Today is going to be tough. Welcome baba Where's the coffee?

Bad night here, she was up standing in her cot at 1am now, used to be doing that at 4, so why 1 now??? Practicing skills?? What am I supposed to do with that though because she gets wide awake! It took an hour and a half to settle her back in with me

Same here holly and fluff. She didn't sleep until 4 til 7. She's shattered now (as am I) and won't nap. What's wrong with her?????

Baba yep thread full of no sleep I haven't sleep trained but I know a few on here have successfully.

I'm not sleep training in terms of CC, CIO or any other method like that but I am attempting gentle methods when I can be bothered

fluff it's tough when they are like that as it's just a case of riding it out until they master/get bored of that particular skill. Maybe encourage her over and over in the day to do it so she's had lots of practise?

Yes holly first time... although he now has a temp of 40 so think he's caught his brothers virus so think it will be shortlived.

Going to be a bad night here.

The 7pm thing didn't happen as ds fell asleep on the bottle wtf he doesn't ever do that! So he went to sleep at 6 after a day of no naps. He has been up 3 times since

oh god, so he's learnt a new trick. Can get himself from lying to sitting without anything to pull up on so has spent the last hour sitting then standing up, bouncing and babbling in his cot. Obviously this is great ...but on the other hand...no sign of looking sleepy yet and have a funny feeling all the wake ups tonight are gonna be a chance to practise the new trick. Thank goodness daddy has taken over for a while whilst I drink wine.....it's gonna be a looooong night.

Zombie - my ds is just short of 10 months...how old's yours?

Yes good luck everyone! We are at the inlaws due to DH being away for a week. Both boys (and me!) are ill so I'm not holding out much hope plus I'll have to deal with both of them in the night for the next week. I know we had a good night with one of them last night but now it's obvious that was because he was starting to get poorly.

Tierdy ds had that phase!!! Good luck! How is dh with the settling? I will join you in the wine drinking I think. Ds is 14 months next week and still not showing any sign of improvement I'm going to see a sleep consultant on 16th but not holding out much hope they will do anything.

Star can you call on the in laws for help? hope it's not too bad for you.

I think the sleep consultant will be the turning point for you zombie. Intriguing to hear what they suggest. Totally random but have you taken your DS to an osteopath? Could it be that he's in pain at all from misaligned joints or something. ..?

They are really good in the day but not sure helping in the night is their thing . I'm totally run down and just keep dreaming of spa days, nights in a hotel alone....

Tried getting DD to sleep since 7pm - its just not happening everytime i put her down she wakes. I dont know why she has suddenly started this. She never use to do this when first put down. Baffling! She is wide awake babbling away with us downstairs.

I literally want to scream right now.

Star I have considered the osteopath, I hear these things can be caused by traumatic births and ds birth was quite traumatic, he got stuck. I looked into it but I am really struggling for money at the mo and it would suck if it didn't work and the night in the hotel sounds amazing!

Holly, how do you do it, do you hold her to sleep or put her down awake?

Luckily my dh is great with settling my LO, and he got him almost straight to sleep! Already had one wake up since then though...

Zombie - really hope the sleep consultant helps...osteopath definitely seems worth a try too.

Star - can the in-laws at least let you have a kip in the morning? It's really horrible being ill with littles. Hope you feel better soon.

Zombie i normally hold her to sleep, i do need to start putting her down awake though. When i tried settling her in her cot earlier when i put her down i have to put a hand over her legs, whilst rubbing/tapping tummy & chest & ssshing she tosses her head, rubs her hands over her face, dummy flings out, starts to pull her hair. The list goes on. She is so restless its unreal! Hope the sleep consultant is the turning point for you.

Tired i would love to know when we're going to turn a corner. Its just so knackering isnt it.

Oh how amazing would it be too have a spa day & a night away in a hotel.

Holly no idea if it's true or not but I heard if you hold them (I still hold ds to sleep) it has to be for a minimum of 20 mins until they are in a deep sleep:

Could actually cry now, went to bed, just started drifting off and ds woke up and will not settle unless I hold him. Am so tied I feel sick.

And don't mean to sound like a dick but my 'd' h had a fucking lie in until 11.30 today... 11.30!!! What is that?!?!? Then he had the cheek to tell me earlier he needed a nap.!

Another sh1t night, got her to sleep about 10 only for her to wake an hour later, got her in with us where she was constantly fidgeting then up for the day at 5:15! I'm so frigging tired!!!

zombie i read that too - i sometimes hold DD for a good 45 minutes & the eyes are still flickering. I really think she dislikes sleep. I dont get how she doesnt need more sleep.
Oh my god isnt that awful when your just drifting off that is one of the worse things - i hope you managed to get ds off pretty quickly in the end & you got some sleep.

Morning all! starts taking coffee orders

Hugs Holly; Zombie and Think. Yeah even after 30 mins of so called deep sleep, my DD still will wake sometimes, soooo annoying!

Holly what a rough night. I'm guessing there's some kind of leap or teething going on? Who the fck knows eh? My DD has started to fight sleep the first part of the night. It's so hard.

Zombie I am so hoping a sleep consultant can help.

Ok ish past two nights here. Oh yeah we're still co sleeping but she did manage till midnight Ok it was 2340 but I'm rounding off in her cot. Quite a few subsequent wakings I think but after a feed she went back to sleep. Shame I woke at 5 and could not sleep again! But can't complain.

Oh man. I'd LOVE a spa break. My favourite spa break is Stobo Castle (I'm in Scotland). When things are really bad I shut down and drift off to my happy place there...swim in the infinity pool, followed by a massage...nice food...then to sleep in a gorgeousluxury comfortable bed ALL ON MY OWN.

Absolutely awful night here too. Multiple wake ups and not settling. Almost in tears I asked my h to take over, he did for about 30 mins, he waited until I drifted off to wake me up to say he needed to get ready for bed

She didn't settle properly til I brought her in bed with me at 2.45.

Can I join? I haven't had a decent nights sleep (or even more than 2 consecutive hours) in over 12 months. Do I qualify?
I'm allergic to caffeine too so you can all drink my share of the coffee.
