Mumsnet TV show starring Mumsnetters ready to view. Please tell us what you think...

You may remember at the end of 2009 we asked for volunteers to be filmed having the Mumsnet hair cut and take part in a Mumsnet TV makeover etc. Well the final cut of the first Mumsnet e-TV magazine show is now up and ready to view (and before we go any further there's definitely a starring role/Mumsnet book/our undying gratitude for anyone who can think up a snappier title for the show. Anything other than Mumsnet Magazine TV show would be an improvement).

Made for Mumsnetters and starring - who else - Mumsnetters, the current plan is that this will be a regular show bringing you all the MN staples - AIBU, beauty tips, MN makeovers, sleb interviews, some political stuff - the works.

This episode is a trial run to see what works (and what doesn't). We already have an idea of what doesn't work (mostly any time MNHQ get involved/appear ) but we think you'll agree that the Mumsnetters are great - absolutely star material.

You can find the show in the MNTV slot on the right hand side of the page on Chat, AIBU, Site Stuff, webchats, Telly addicts, competitions and active conversations. Please take a minute (or seven) to have a look and then tell us what you think of it. All suggestions and feedback welcome (but do be gentle with us...). Oh and don't forget a name for the show.

Thanks and enjoy,

MNHQ

ummm.
Who is John?

Yummy cherries/grapes, I gather...

Must watch it with SOUND. It will all be clear.

RonNumber · 18/01/2010 16:22

coudnt it be done not in a house?

snort at my word norks being used

hattyyellow · 18/01/2010 16:23

Had a quick look and lost interest very quickly. Tops selected for the models were very dark and just blended into the background - it was hard to see with the camera work what was supposed to make those selected items special.

Yes I know that little summaries popped up on the side of the screen to show why they were chosen - but that looked to me a bit like an amateur powerpoint presentation. Sorry!

JeremyVile · 18/01/2010 16:25

I love that the AIBU-er was disguised, like a Crimewatch clip! (She's quite angry, isn't she?)

You were all fab - and Mars, you are absolutely beatiful.

Wish I ahd Michelles hair

RonNumber · 18/01/2010 16:25

The fashion section has potential but shouldn't you say where all the clothes were from (and i liked the purple wrap dress - where was it from please?) but don't shoot it on the stairs - bad bad angle. Would prefer it in a more airy studio-type room.

JeremyVile · 18/01/2010 16:31

Which one were you royalty? were you Michelle?

Oh dear.

It's all a little silly and a little amateurish too.

Plus why mention ' norks', fgs you did it with Will Young, I would say most of us don't call them Norks.

hattyyellow · 18/01/2010 16:33

Completely agree re showcasing models on the stairs - such an unflattering angle!

Beauty section not sure about either. The sound quality was poor and it was a bit like our sixth form video shoots ie a bit unprofessional.

Sorry not being great at being gentle!

JeremyVile · 18/01/2010 16:35

Ah! I see, you were quiet unexpectedly

hattyyellow · 18/01/2010 16:35

Sorry, didn't realise the participants were on here! I feel mean now.

Your house is lovely, I just thought the sound quality could have been improved upon in the filming.

CurtainTwitcher · 18/01/2010 16:35

Mumsnet Madhouse
Mumsnet Nets Mums
Mumsnet Nork tastic show

BitOfFun · 18/01/2010 16:36

I thought it was quite entertaining, perhaps some bits were a little stilted- and I'm afraid the phrase "you mumsnetters" from the guy John made me cringe a bit. I would have liked a more straightforward competion between MNers and the "stylist"- ie, ask the women to choose who did the best job. I also thought that filming it in a house looked cheap, and thet the fashion shots on the staircase were hideous unflattering with that camera angle.

When Mamazon yelled "OMG" while trying the heated eyelash curlers, I thought for a second that she might have singed her eyelids off, but that is her being hammy- not your fault

The main thing I didn't like was the writing- it did look leke a powerpoint presentation, and I think you need to work on the graphics a bit. The amateur effect was compounded by the quite cheesy repeating background music too.

HOWEVER, it's a good idea, and with a bit more work could be really popular. I enjoyed it.

hocuspontas · 18/01/2010 16:38

I just enjoyed putting faces to MN names.
(saddo)

RonNumber · 18/01/2010 16:39

iw ant gerrymumsnets teeth

Ronaldinhio · 18/01/2010 16:39

It was too dark
thought the fashion bloke was dodge imo
why not get Amandoh on to do some styling if it was all her suggestions?
he seemed like that tumble guy to me

liked the will young stuff

thought generally the camera angles were crappola

RonNumber · 18/01/2010 16:39

yes do we ened an outsider in camp shirt?

what about that dad who rekcons he hems his wifes clothes

RonNumber · 18/01/2010 16:41

i wonder if the whole thing needs to be less formulaic
ie camp guy outside house "Ooh i wonder what we will do"
chat on sofa

oohs and aahs over clotehs

great reveal

why not jsut two giggly women trying on clothes hysterically in changing rooom

< recognises own life emoticon>

JeremyVile · 18/01/2010 16:43

FFS Ron. Are you carrie bradshaw?

FredAboutAFred · 18/01/2010 16:43

that the SECONDtime someone has said that today to me

sorry am no Fred and cant hear you

silverfridge · 18/01/2010 16:43

The house was the wrong setting for the fashion item, it did look really cramped also the lighting was not very good.

Loved the AIBU, however would be good to get more than one persons view.

Agree with other comments re the powerpoint slides.
