The new Mumsnet

So here it is, what you've all been waiting for (or dreading)... The new look Mumsnet; still no tickers, but lots of fabulous new content and a splendid new look (right?).

Don't forget that to get the best of the new look talk you need to click the Customize link at the top of Talk and change colour scheme to "Mumsnet New".

We're well aware of various minor glitches that we will fix over the next day or two. There are a few duff links around and a few pages that still need updating. But all the big stuff works so dive in and feel free to comment on the problems you find.

Right that's it I'm off to bed for a couple of hours, knock yourselves out.

OP posts:
PenelopePitstops · 30/01/2009 07:56

Don't like the teeny weenny writing with the topics on active convos, next to the title. This is on firefox though so could be a problem there.

MrCSWS · 30/01/2009 07:56

Is anyone having a problem with "Threads I'm watching". it is just not working for me. I have re-added the threads, but they just don't show up.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2009 07:56

It's all gone horribly wrong with "classic" too.

Acres of white space and all the posts crammed up together

Saltire · 30/01/2009 07:57

OOh and the first letters of a new line keep disappearing when I type a message out.
Phsychos right, its an laternate universe. Rose Tyler and the toehr Dr will appear any minute to tell us MN has been taken over by Aliens

BTW I have adaware installed and I get absolutely no ads whatsoever

onebatmother · 30/01/2009 07:57

Hey! Who's been messing with the 'Snet?

psychomum5 · 30/01/2009 07:57

I will say it again.....YOU HAVE SHIFTED US ALL TO AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE haven;t you.

one where the moon is full, and shouldn;t be.

you have done baaaaaaaaaaaaaad things!!!

LIZS · 30/01/2009 07:58

sorry think I have it in classic and when I look at , say , Threads I'm On the layout and font colour doesn't make for easy reading as the heading and posters names are very similar apart from the indent. Can thread title appear in bold or a different size ?

psychomum5 · 30/01/2009 07:58
Furball · 30/01/2009 07:59

soupdragon - Thats what happened with me, but I swithed to 'new mumsnet' and it's all nice and spaced out but a little pale. I'm assuming I'll get used to it

boredveryverybored · 30/01/2009 07:59

Ooohhh mine has spontaneously sorted out! Ads have jumped over to where they shoudl be and all the acres of white have dissapeared.
Excellent. don't mind it now.

(I have a sneaking suspicion that tech made it truly awful for a while, so that when we all got it as it's meant to be we'd be so grateful we wouldn't moan about the new stuff )

MrCSWS · 30/01/2009 08:00

And clicking on "I Started", has a title of "Threads I'm On"

VampiresWalkin · 30/01/2009 08:01

ok I am being brave and trying out "mumsnet new".

I was good. I changed to muted I'll have you know and wasn't still stuck on MN classic, but still...

Titles! They are like a book cover - you need them to JUDGE. You read "My stepmother is...." and you have no idea what your opinion is before you open the thread

SoupDragon · 30/01/2009 08:03

I get the acres of space with "new" too and also the sh*te "active conversations" layout.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2009 08:04

All the white space is round the edges with none between posts at all. It's like reading a splurge of txt speak with no paragraphs.

norksinmywaistband · 30/01/2009 08:05

OMG I cannot cope with this it is all too closely spaced and just making my eyes go funny
Arrgghh.
Is there any way to get MN back the way it was PLEASE

piratecat · 30/01/2009 08:06

the active conversations layout means that you have to scroll down and down and down past each and every new thread on each topic.

this is not good tech, I haven't got time, or power of eye. The active convo's thread titles need to be underlined or seperated somehow form the thread post texts iyswim.

when you got a min of course!!!!!

mm22bys · 30/01/2009 08:07

If there's one thing you "fix", please can it be the length of thread titles?

It looks to me like about half is taken up the (shortened) thread title, and the next half is taken up by the date, time, and poster of the last post, then "Add Watch". In some cases this is going over one line.

If it can already go over one line, then please can you extend the thread title so we, as others have said, can judge whether it's relevant or not?

Oh I found AIBU, and SN (trying to give it a fair go!)

Thanks MNHQ,

AnarchyAunt · 30/01/2009 08:08

Why don't links I've followed come up in purple anymore? I have tried seting colours back to MN Classic and refreshing but they are staying blue and I don't know what I've looked at and what I haven't [flap]

LIZS · 30/01/2009 08:08

me too sd. The actual threads look ok(ie normal!) , but the summary pages are confusing to look at .

lol ds has just exclaimed "you've changed the format !!" "No they have" replied I. "But you can't see which ones you've been on .... " - too much over the shoulder reading perhaps

harleyd · 30/01/2009 08:09

what the hell is this..aarrggghhh!

JustineMumsnet · 30/01/2009 08:10

There are a few glitches with the classic options at the moment - apologies - we'll sort them in the next little while - in the meantime if you opt for New Mumsnet then things are spaced as they should be.

psychomum5 · 30/01/2009 08:10

why are my threads not changing colour after I have clicked on them???

why is it all teeny to read??

and WHY are the topics at the side near invisible??

Tommy · 30/01/2009 08:10

don't like it What's going on?

harleyd · 30/01/2009 08:11

it wont change back!!!!

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 30/01/2009 08:11

It's too small, it hurts my eyes. [back to bed]
