I've been getting this for the last day on Android

Happytaytos · 12/05/2026 21:48

Android chrome here

Deleting the cache works for a while, then I get the 400 error again.

MrsClatterbuck · 12/05/2026 22:07

Getting 400 bad request when trying to open AIBU or any other. On a tablet Honour but works OK on my Samsung phone.

Happytaytos · Yesterday 06:59

Weird.i just got the error message (sorry don't know if 400 or 404) .
Used the method in my screenshot above and it worked.

This worked for me too, despite having cleared my cache previously

ShowOfHands · Yesterday 07:52

This has just started happening for me. Clearing the cache works for about 5 minutes.

On Android using Chrome.

Sherunswithwolves · Yesterday 08:53

It's been happening to me since yesterday / perhaps Monday night on Android and Chrome. I can browse in Incognito mode but that's it.

IDontHateRainbows · Yesterday 09:04

Mumsnet sure are doing a great job of dissuading people to use the site, it's so annoying having to constantly go in and out of incognito mode and if I stay in incognito mode I have to re log in to all my other sites. @BeckyAMumsnet is anything actually being done about this or are you just going to rinse-repeat on the clear cache advice?

purpleme12 · Yesterday 09:06

It is All a very odd response

RedToothBrush · Yesterday 12:30

On Android. Was fine yesterday on my laptop and phone. Now having the errors of doom again. Deleted cache once. No joy. Deleted a second time and now working.

This is not a me problem. It's a lack of testing problem.

RedToothBrush · Yesterday 12:32

And that last for me to post once and then I got error messages again.

It basically unusable on my phone. And yes I'm on chrome.

RedToothBrush · Yesterday 12:53

And again. One post and 400ed.

This is not how other sites with lots of advertisers work. Because they actually work.

This is unsustainable. Sort it out.

Its ridiculous isnt it. i got 404 bad request last Tuesday and only got back in after clearing caches etc. this afternoon! Means ive had to re log in on other sites and fb dont make it easy to do because despite accepting the password it wants users to pick out pics of zebra crossings and cars plus you get the capcha crap I cant keep doing it because eventually my other sites will think im a hacker and block me. Its not acceptable. Ive done it once Im not prepared to do it again

JenniferBooth · Yesterday 17:41

Actually happened to me twice on old laptop and then new one. Its the old laptop thats still showing 404 bad request just to be clear. Cant be bothered to sort this out on old laptop as well.

Happytaytos · Yesterday 17:43

On chrome phone, click 3 dots, then click the i in a circle, then click cookies and sita data and delete. It only deletes MN data not everywhere else.

BeckyAMumsnet · Yesterday 17:57

Thanks all. We know clearing cache/cookies has helped some people temporarily, but it’s clearly not fixing the issue for everyone, and for some of you the error is coming back very quickly.

We’re sorry, we know this is hugely frustrating. We’ve been investigating further today and now think the issue is connected to cookies/browser data building up in a way that can push requests over a limit, which then triggers the 400 errors. We’ve managed to mitigate this for some users, but we haven’t fully solved the root cause yet.

Because this is happening browser-side, it’s very difficult for us to see exactly what’s going on from our end. It would be incredibly helpful if one or two people who are currently experiencing the issue would be willing to jump on a short screen share call with someone from our dev team, so we can see what’s happening in real time and inspect the browser behaviour safely.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone who can do this on a desktop or laptop, as we’ll need to look at what’s happening with cookies in the browser, which is much harder to do on mobile. We wouldn’t need anything complicated from you, and we wouldn’t ask you to share anything sensitive.

We’re mainly trying to understand what page/action triggers the error, and what happens to the cookies/browser data when the error appears.

If you’d be willing to help, please post here or message MNHQ. Thanks again for bearing with us - we know this isn’t good enough and we’re actively working on it.

I'm now MNing on an incognito window on my laptop, which has sorted things out after several frustrating days of not being able to get beyond the Active Threads page.

RNApolymerase · Yesterday 19:56

It's getting worse this evening on phone, can only look at a couple of pages before get error, clear data, rinse and repeat.

lazyarse123 · Yesterday 23:58

So glad i found this thread. I thought i was doing something wrong.
I couldn't get on using my tablet but it worked on my phone.
My dd looked and did something with the history and fingers crossed it's been fine since.
