@FuzzyPuffling If it works in Incognito mode, then it absolutely should be resolved by clearing your cache / website data, too.

I can see that you've posted previously saying that you've tried clearing it. What browser are you using?

Chrome on android.

I can't seem to find a way of clearing just MN cache/ cookies...its all or nothing. I am disinclined to clear everything and then have to spend hours reinstating log ins for everything else...when everything else is working fine.

Me too. It's not really an acceptable solution.

MattTech · 11/05/2026 12:52

@FuzzyPuffling @IDontHateRainbows I don't have an Android device to test this at the moment, but it should definitely be possible to clear the cache and data for a single site on Android.

I've just had a quick look and this might work:

https://techpp.com/2022/02/16/clear-cache-for-specific-site-cookies-chrome-guide#How_to_Clear_Cache_and_Cookies_for_a_Specific_Site_on_Chrome_for_Android

You should be able to clear just for Mumsnet there which shouldn't affect any other sites.

Picpac876 · 11/05/2026 12:57

Can you not just deploy a new version of the website that therefore forces the browser to reload the website instead of using the cached version? Surely that would be a simpler solution for all?

MattTech · 11/05/2026 13:02

@Picpac876 Unfortunately that isn't possible because this is a browser problem, not a site problem (even though it was caused by a mistake at our end).

If we could do that we absolutely would!

This link wants to put cookies from over 1000 vendors on my phone. No thanks!

Now, that is interesting. I didn't have the issue on my phone until I responded to your post. I hadn't posted on my phone for a few weeks. And then bam, error 400.

Lunde · 11/05/2026 15:35

I had an interesting experience yesterday - I got the 404 Bad Gateway of doom and couldn't be bothered to go through it all again for the 5th time.....

I was seriously considering leaving MN

When I came back to it after dinner - the problem had resolved itself. Without me doing a thing!

Not sure if MN really know what is going on

FuzzyPuffling · 11/05/2026 15:53

Mine is fine on Samsung Internet, although still stuffed on Chrome....at the moment.

I discovered the original issue three days after my friend reported it. I wonder why it didn't happen to us all at the same time?

You say that but how many times to we need to do it? I have tried regularly since Sunday and it's still not working 😞

MassiveOvaryaction · 11/05/2026 15:55

I mean Sunday last week btw.

Potooooooooes · 11/05/2026 17:52

I have finally been successful in clearing my cache and once more be able to access via the laptop as per usual at last but had to go through the faff of having to sign back in to everything else. Annoying.

purpleme12 · 11/05/2026 21:52

Ok so the 404 message started on Sunday 4th. (So it only worked on my laptop then). I did actually manage to get it off and access Mumsnet last Thursday. All ok since then....

Till today where it the message happened again!
Not only that though, it happened on my laptop today for the first time!
I've fixed it as per what it says on here but surely the explanation given earlier for this fault doesn't make sense now....
Why is this happening still??

Happytaytos · 11/05/2026 23:10

I keep being asked to verify via cloud flare too.

decorationday · 11/05/2026 23:14

There are only so many times I'm going to clear my cache just to be able to view one or two pages before the error returns.

decorationday · 11/05/2026 23:20

"If you're still getting the error message it's worth closing all your open tabs, before clearing your cache again (not just cookies) and then completely relaunching the browser."

With respect, I'm not doing that. That's ridiculous and a waste of my time.

WhatDoRacoonsSay · 11/05/2026 23:22

I gave up trying days ago and just go incognito now.
Absolutely nothing worked.

purpleme12 · 11/05/2026 23:46

Well if it keeps happening I'll be giving up

I don't understand how they're explanation can be true if it's happened again today and happened on the laptop now too

VividDeer · 12/05/2026 06:17

I'm on the verge of giving up too
It worked for a few days and now same problem

Seeline · 12/05/2026 07:14

@BeckyAMumsnet @MattTech
The 400 error only started for me a couple of days ago, so how is that caused by something MN did a week ago, and then fixed?

I have since cleared my browsing history, cache, files, images and cookies numerous times. I can then access the active list but as soon as I click on a thread I get the 400 error again and that's it. This is an Android phone in Chrome. How do your tech team not have an Android device to test on?! Half the population uses one!!

Honestly, this is a joke! No otherwise site has these constant issues. Your advertising revenue must have tanked over the last week.

MotherofPufflings · 12/05/2026 07:23

Only started happening to me yesterday, specially when I clicked on the search tab at the bottom of the page. I've cleared the cache and it hasn't worked.

Nos4r2 · 12/05/2026 07:35

Had this happen again twice this morning. It's got to be a Mumsnet fault.
Keep having to delete my browsing history to restore. Fed up with Mumsnet and thier useless excuses.

I've done that and I am STILL having problems. Saying it's an us problem not a site problem is frankly ridiculous! You'll lose thousands of users because you can't be bothered to sort it out!
