Sigh.

Still having this problem - Chrome/laptop

this time the 404 Bad Gateway message said that the MN site was using abnormally large cookies that couldn't be processed

Cleared my cache, closed all my tabs, closed Chrome, restarted phone... Still happening. I've attached screenshots - am I doing something wrong?

Updating Chrome and turning the phone on and off again along with day 5 (6?) of clearing cookies and cache has made bog all difference.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/05/2026 17:16

I'm the same...404 message, had it for two days now.

I'm on android, not in the app, and can only get here after a kindly MNetter told me to go incognito.

Everything else on my phone is working perfectly well.

Wipeywipey · 08/05/2026 17:56

Same as others, can't access on chromebook despite clearing cache. It has been great at stopping my distractions though and is added to META not believing my FB and Insta were hacked, so no social media at all if MN keeps this up!

Cleared the cache as instructed on the other thread but still getting 400 bad request in my laptop (Microsoft edge)

It might work on chrome if the problem was with edge

GardenersDelight · 08/05/2026 19:15

I only solved it by uninstalling and then downloading again. Only problem seems to be mobile app rather than tablet one so can't skip to next post by OP in each thre0a9d

And me.... but it is curing my scrolling on Mumsnet time wasting habit.cos' I cant be arsed logging in this incognito way.

ManufacturedConcerns · 08/05/2026 19:51

Im getting the code 400 on chrome on android. I've cleared the cache, it will then work for 1 page before going back to the error.

I've manged to get here by using an incognito tab

FuzzyPuffling · 08/05/2026 19:53

We're all incognito now. Never mind MN, more MI5.

Having downloaded Chrome, yes that works. Thanks.

HappyTalkingAndLaughing · 08/05/2026 22:19

Also getting the 404 message on my Android mobile. Have cleared out search history etc many times over the last few days

WallaceinAnderland · 09/05/2026 01:32

I had 404 message on chrome tonight for about an hour. Resolved now.

ChristmasStars · 09/05/2026 08:03

So glad I found this thread. I've had it for days and I've followed all the steps. Now I can only access MN on chrome incognito but you always have to sign in again.

It's only MN.

Younginside · 09/05/2026 08:24

Mine is working again for me, but only after clearing out all history, cache and cookies from Samsung browser. I have lost all my stats for various games that I play which may cure my addictions so perhaps that's not so bad. But it points to MN having unreasonably large elements (at one point the 400 message confirmed something too large to load).

IDontHateRainbows · 09/05/2026 12:45

Its a pain accessing on incognito as I have to keep coming out of incognito to access other sites I'm logged in on. Then back to incognito for mn. Any update @BeckyAMumsnet @KellyMumsnet on whether this is being sorted. Don't want to clear my history and have to log into everything again and nor should we have to.

WallaceinAnderland · 09/05/2026 14:25

I didn't need to clear anything.

BeckyAMumsnet · 09/05/2026 15:37

Hello @IDontHateRainbows we do appreciate the hassle involved. Unfortunately this appears to be a browser-side issue rather than something we can fix from our end. You should be able to clear the cache just for Mumsnet, though, which means data for your other sites should remain unaffected.

There are instructions on how to do it by device here: www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/5522378-update-on-recent-404-errors-and-how-to-clear-your-cache?

I don't believe it is browser side as many of us have followed the instructions and still not got it to work.

When I initially googled it said that if none of these steps work then it must be the website that has an issue.

Theunamedcat · 09/05/2026 16:10

its unusable and completely inaccessible in my phone now ive taken the steps and error after error
