Ive cleared my cache again. Deleted browsing data etc etc. Still not working.

TutTutTutSigh · 09/05/2026 20:49

First time I've been able to log in for 4 days, sort it out please! Clearly not a user issue when mumsnet is the only common denominator.

ManufacturedConcerns · 09/05/2026 21:02

Finally got it to work by clearing everything for the last 7 days. So once again I've been signed out of all my websites. It's not good enough. And if there's a way to only clear the cache etc for Mumsnet then I can't find it.

ForestHare · 09/05/2026 22:29

I have the same on my android phone when using Ecosia for the last week or so. I can access the site using Chrome but I dont like to use it and so am using mumsnet much less frequently - it was daily until this issue, now I check every 2/3 days. Please @KellyMumsnet @BeckyAMumsnet can something more be done. I have cleared cache numerous times, restarted phone etc. Using a browser not the app

Livelovelaughfuckoff · 10/05/2026 09:03

I can’t use mumsnet on anything now other than private browser and even then it’s hit and miss and slow to load most of the time. Not a new problem either been this way for months. Shame was always a great resource. The website is a complete pile of shite now.

It’s laughable that MNHQ’s only offering of a solution is one that causes inconvenience to its users. I’m not clearing my cache and going through the faff of having to sign back in to everything else I use. These problems have been going on so long it’s clear there is no intention to solve it really.

Ludmilaandthelonely · 10/05/2026 09:11

Glad I found this thread. Must admit this is reducing my MN use because I really don't like the app.

Lunde · 10/05/2026 20:17

Problem still not resolved

ThisHangryTiger · 10/05/2026 20:19

Apologies if it's been solved in a PP, but if not, clear the cookies in your browsing history.

ThaneOfGlamis · 10/05/2026 20:20

Urgh, this happened to me yesterday. I did clear the history, but as it then logged me out of everything, I spent ages logging back in and changing passwords that I couldn't remember. So annoying.

BendingSpoons · 10/05/2026 20:23

I still can't use MN on Chrome on my Android phone. It's been about a week now. I have cleared my cache etc etc. I can use another browser or incognito mode (although that's a bit slow) but it's a pain.

I think we have all done that several times.

Potooooooooes · 10/05/2026 21:35

Nope hasn't helped.

I have access on my phone to the mobile site but laptop remains resolutely error 400 computer sez no.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/05/2026 07:17

I think I'm most saddened by the MN attitude.." We've dumped something on your device that stops it working, but hey, it's all down to you to sort it out, at possible great inconvenience to yourself."

That's not good customer service in my world.

Nos4r2 · 11/05/2026 07:28

I had it yesterday cleared it this morning by clearing 24hr history. I dont know how I did it though.

Enko · 11/05/2026 07:30

I had it working for 24 hours. Now back to 400 error. Can't see what else I can do now..

Absolutely!

And no urgency to address it.

Maybe their £2.6 million profit last year should be used to employ some skilled IT people or to drop some of the adverts that appear to be causing this.

Hi all,

Firstly, sorry that some of you are still experiencing this. I know it's really frustrating and we want to resolve this.

I just wanted to explain a bit more about what happened, and why the suggested fix has been clearing your browser cache.

Last Thursday, while we were making some planned changes to our server setup, we made a mistake in a configuration change. We spotted it very quickly and reverted it within about 45 seconds, but during that short period some pages on the site were incorrectly redirected and showed a 404 error page.

Unfortunately, for some users, browsers then cached that error locally. Because the issue is being stored in the browser rather than on Mumsnet itself, there isn't anything we can clear remotely from our side, which is why we've been suggesting clearing browser cache.

We know that advice can feel annoying, but for most people affected it has resolved the issue. The fact that Mumsnet works in an Incognito / Private window is also a good sign that this is the same browser caching problem, as those windows don't use your existing cache.

That said, we want to make absolutely sure we're not missing anything. If you get another 404 error, it would be really helpful if you could copy the full web address / URL from your browser and post it here or email it to us. That'll help us check whether there might be anything else going on.

Thanks for bearing with us while we get to the bottom of it.

Matt

MattTech · 11/05/2026 10:12

@FuzzyPuffling Thanks for confirming. This is still a browser error (anything beginning with a 4 is a client-side / browser problem).

Could you confirm if it works in an Incognito / Private browser window please? And also, if you log in in that Incognito window does everything work as expected?

Thanks

limetrees32 · 11/05/2026 10:13

@MattTech thank you for your post.
And for explaining the origin of the issue was at MN end.
When you say last Thursday do you mean 7 May ?
Because I , and others ,404 messages predated this .
Mine to c.4 May.

MattTech · 11/05/2026 10:20

@limetrees32 The mistake that we made was on 23rd May, so any 404s pre-dating that would be something different.

Do you have any examples of the URLs your going to when you're seeing the 404 messages?

Livelovelaughfuckoff · 11/05/2026 10:20

I keep getting 419 page expired message when trying to login in a private browser window. It does eventually let me login after several attempts. Can’t use MN at all in normal safari or explorer

Yes it works in incognito mode.
