Well goodness people you must not be completely clearing your caches.
Try harder.

And then, in my case, I lose passwords, browsing history etc.

It isn’t good enough that MN have not solved this and that us, the user have the error to correct.

limetrees32 · 06/05/2026 16:03

Yes, and we're not correcting it properly .

Absolutely @limetrees32

Honestly it's quite ridiculous now reading the mumsnet replies about this.
Because they've not just said these things once but multiple times.
Oh guess what? Their solution is STILL not working!

CurbsideProphet · 06/05/2026 17:31

I can only open Mumsnet by using Incognito, which I didn't know existed before yesterday. I've never had this before.

purpleme12 · 06/05/2026 17:43

I do have a recollection of it happening quite a while back now

I'm pretty sure it was the same thing!

IDontHateRainbows · 06/05/2026 17:48

Had to use in incognito mode which is a pain but seems to sort it as a temporary fix.

MassiveOvaryaction · 06/05/2026 18:55

KellyMumsnet · 06/05/2026 09:52

Morning, everyone. Sorry to hear this is still a problem. We're pretty sure this is a browser cache issue, given that several people are reporting that it's working in incognito mode. It's possible that some people's caches aren't being fully cleared somehow.

If you're still getting the error message it's worth closing all your open tabs, before clearing your cache again (not just cookies) and then completely relaunching the browser.

How many times do you suggest we do this for it to be effective? Have tried at least twice daily since it first happened on Sunday Confused

MassiveOvaryaction · 06/05/2026 18:56

limetrees32 · 06/05/2026 16:03

Yes, and we're not correcting it properly .

Yeah. Patronising much?

MassiveOvaryaction · 06/05/2026 18:57

limetrees32 · 06/05/2026 08:45

Mumsnet is practically the only social media I use .
Look at friends Facebook posts sometimes and use a local neighborhood forum
Mumsnet seems to me to have a lot of technical glitches but is this usual on this type of site?
I don't understand why it happens.

It's only a problem with Mumsnet. And has been previously.

patioh · 06/05/2026 19:52

Same here - I'm using incognito for the first time, not having problems with any other sites. I've cleared my cache, closed everything, restarted my phone.

And I get the error message even if I try open a new thread for the first time, so surely I can't be viewing a cached version?!

AwkwardBounce · 06/05/2026 20:34

limetrees32 · 06/05/2026 16:03

Yes, and we're not correcting it properly .

Maybe MN could use the £2.6 million profits from advertising to sort out the site.

Deregistering is a thought. I’m worried about the lack of priority and focus on fixing this,? Does it make a security breach more likely? Then what happens!

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 06/05/2026 21:56

Sigh. I can use MN with no problem on my laptop (where I'm typing this!) Been getting Bad Gateway and 404 errors for a few days now on my phone, every single time. I used to use MN via browser on an Android phone. Funny it's happened to other MN users recently, AND it doesn't happen with ANY other site, MN. Come on MN, please don't blame the user, just fix it!

Potooooooooes · 06/05/2026 22:02

Raising my hand to say my laptop is affected now. Have tried clearing the cache, closing the browser, throwing salt over my left shoulder, recharging my crystal by moonlight, nope nada.

Luckily for me you poor things, so sorry the mobile site still works on my phone.

Please sort it ahhht, HQ [Peggy Mitchell pointy finger]

Pancakeflipper · 06/05/2026 22:35

Hurrah- I have found my people. Thought it was my phone..
Been deleting cookies, turning on and off etc... so gone incognito which feels shifty.

Hoping this sorted SOON

ElectoralControversy · 06/05/2026 23:04

I was getting the 400 bad request and could only get on through incognito, chrome browser, android phone

I cleared "cookies and site data" but not cache (because I didn't think of checking on here!) and that has fixed it... for now

Enko · 07/05/2026 09:08

I cant get my android to log in on incognito it keeps saying I am logging in from a unfamilar device ConfusedConfused

I dislike the app so much and this is really making me use mumsnet less as I cant get on with the app. It feels like a conspiracy to force us onto the app.

I am on day 4 of this happening

IDontHateRainbows · 07/05/2026 10:18

Yes, poor show Mumsnet this is still happening and advice to clear browing history is having no effect.

BeckyAMumsnet · 07/05/2026 10:29

Thanks so much to everyone who’s been testing this and letting us know what you’re seeing - it’s really helpful, and we know how annoying these sorts of stop-start issues are.

For some users, clearing the browser cache has fixed the problem, but we can see that isn’t the case for everyone. One thing that’s helping us narrow this down is that Mumsnet does seem to work properly in an incognito/private browsing window. That’s useful because incognito mode doesn’t use the same stored cache as your normal browser session, which points to this potentially being caused by something locally stored in the browser rather than a wider site issue.

If you’ve already fully cleared your cache and you’re still seeing the problem, we’d really like to dig into it with you directly. If you’d be happy to jump on a quick call/screenshare with the team so we can see exactly what’s happening, please either report this post or email us directly at [email protected].

And if you need instructions for clearing your cache (you can do this just for Mumsnet rather than wiping everything), please take a look here:

Thanks again for bearing with us while we work through it.

Update on recent 404 errors and how to clear your cache | Mumsnet

Hello everyone. We’ve now identified what caused the 404 errors some users were seeing late last week and over the weekend. There was a very brief...

BeckyAMumsnet · 07/05/2026 12:34

Hello @IDontHateRainbows can we ask you to clear the cache and not just cookies and history, please? The link in my previous post has instructions. If it's still happening after that, let us know.

@Enko Incognito/private browsing can sometimes trigger this because the browser doesn’t keep the same saved device information or cookies.
The easiest thing to do for now is try logging in in a normal browser tab rather than incognito/private mode. If you’re already doing that and still seeing the message, it may help to (yes we are saying this a lot - sorry 😬) clear your cache and try again), and switch between wifi and phone data.

dementedpixie · 07/05/2026 12:39

@BeckyAMumsnet how do you do it on Samsung Internet?

VividDeer · 07/05/2026 12:41

Mine suddenly started too. Worked in incognito but had to keep logging back in.
Worked on Microsoft edge

Have now cleared cache for just the last 7 days and working... for now

This has to be a mumsnet problem surely

BeckyAMumsnet · 07/05/2026 12:46

Hello, @dementedpixie If you’re using Samsung Internet, you can clear the cache by doing this:

  • Open Samsung Internet
  • Tap the three lines/menu button
  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Browsing data
  • Tap Delete browsing data
  • Select Cached images and files (you don’t necessarily need to select passwords/autofill etc)
  • Tap Delete data

You can also clear data for just Mumsnet:

  • Go to Settings
  • Sites and downloads
  • Manage website data
  • Search for Mumsnet
  • Delete the stored data for the site

Then close and reopen the browser and try again. Let us know how you get on. Thankyou.

purpleme12 · 07/05/2026 13:37

Also on day 4 too.....

dementedpixie · 07/05/2026 13:43

I had tried clearing just mumsnet but that didnt work. Had to clear all the data for samsung Internet and that seems to have worked. Thanks @BeckyAMumsnet

Tnx Bexky but I went to incognito because the usual browsers doesnt work.. following advice in here and have cleared caches nothing works I cant get in in browser or in incognito so am forced to use the app. I am not an MN app fan
