Hi, my format has changed where before it was an old style where I could just see the last few threads but now when I click on what I'm on, it's showing me everything.

When I came on mumsnet today, it forced me to login again and then the format has changed. How can I go back to the original? I'm on an android phone.

Ps cat pic is cute and I can see pic large when click on it

The Watching page is being ordered by date of last post on the thread, not by date of MY last post on the thread. Which means zombie threads that someone else posted on are jumping back to the top of my watch list because I posted on them ages ago.

FuckingHateRats · 21/04/2022 08:58

Anyone else getting this massive black box stopping them from posting? It's taken me four attempts to reply to a thread.

Also had to log in again this morning, despite ticking the box.

Not had that yet!

I think that the Threads I'm on may now be similar.

I barely recognise it-maybe it's someone else's page!😁

AdaColeman · 21/04/2022 10:25

That massive black box appeared several times yesterday, each time I was attempting to write a longer post. I wondered if it was triggered by length of time on one page.
Clicking to the side of it, cleared it, and I was then able to complete the post.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 21/04/2022 10:41

Is there anyway to stop the OP recurring at the top of every page on long threads? I don’t need to refresh my memory very 2 minutes!

Furries · 21/04/2022 10:58

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/04/2022 08:55

@Furries looks like you have old version of desktop. How did you get that

That was a screenshot I took a few weeks ago (to remind myself of a film title to find). I wanted to show that it was easier to view posts when each one had the blue header bar.

Iwasfeelingepic · 21/04/2022 11:14

I've had to log in again, even though I have ticked the keep me logged in box, I never log out or shut down the tab on my phone, and though I have 4 Mumsnet tabs opened I still have to log in. Also the bookmark isn't working, its really infuriating having to scroll down to where I've last read.. @Mumsnut

Iwasfeelingepic · 21/04/2022 11:16

Sorry to whoever mumsnut is. I some how managed to @ and then it wouldn't let me delete it .
Anyone else done that?

Ah Damn @Furries

i thought you had found the magical answer to desktop

prh47bridge · 21/04/2022 17:27

The problems with PMs appear to have been fixed. I hope the other bugs will be fixed quickly.

I'm surprised we still don't have bullets on bullet points. That should be a simple stylesheet fix.

Of course, fixing the things that aren't working will be quicker than fixing the things that have gone missing. Have Mumsnet said whether the ability to view all posts in a thread will be restored? And will Advanced Search return?

I remember when MNHQ refused to implement quoting because they said that stacked quotes would render threads unreadable.

I agree with others that the colour band was much more user friendly than the bolded username to demarcate posts.

Lougle · 21/04/2022 17:38

@prh47bridge I went to Settings>More settings>Talk settings, then selected 'On threads show messages per thread' 'All'.

Another issue: if a poster quotes another poster, then in 'Threads I'm on' their name appears with the timestamp and '...' so no preview of what they've said (or quoted).

Thanks. Not as convenient as being able to click a link to switch between the paged view and the full thread, but better than nothing.

prh47bridge · 21/04/2022 18:12

I note that they talk about filtering threads by user as a premium feature. I hope that doesn't mean we have to pay for advanced search.

Lougle · 21/04/2022 18:39

I won't pay for features like that. I use Chrome (Android mainly) so just go to the three dot menu, tap 'find in page' and type in the username. Then I can click down through all the user's posts.

I can see all posts on a thread on one page

i changed it in settings

Arianya · 21/04/2022 20:33

I see the AIBU options are now stacked instead of appearing side by side. Has it occurred to you that this is really bad design because the options are now unequally weighted?

I generally use Advanced Search to find my own previous posts, sometimes from years ago, usually when I'm looking for a post that contains information relevant to a current thread and I don't want to repeat the research. So I'm usually looking for my posts on any thread that contain specific words. Find in page won't help with that.

Yes, Lougle pointed out it is available in settings. Better than nothing but not, in my view, as user friendly as allowing the user to look at a normal page with 25 posts and switch to seeing the full thread with a single click. Putting it in settings means I have to make a semi-permanent choice rather than switching between modes at will.

I'm a big fan of advanced search. When I needed to report on behaviours DD1 showed at different ages for her ASD assessment, I was able to look back at 12 years of posts in the SN section where I had written about her - it made it so easy to give specific examples.

I am sick of being signed out, despite ticking the stay signed in box.

AnastasiaRomanov · 21/04/2022 23:20

Me too.
