Format change

Hi, my format has changed where before it was an old style where I could just see the last few threads but now when I click on what I'm on, it's showing me everything.

When I came on mumsnet today, it forced me to login again and then the format has changed. How can I go back to the original? I'm on an android phone.

I quite like it. I do not like that I have to keep logging in all the time though!

When you login, tick the box that says "Keep me logged in". That will solve that particular issue.

Not in my case. I’m getting really fed up of been given the option of logging in or registering every tine I want to have 10 mins on MN. I’ve ticked the box every time.

Having figured out how to do paragraphs on PMs (Shift+Enter for anyone interested), I had to enter my message twice - the first time an error message appeared when I hit Enter and the message was gone when I got rid of the error. Then, when I'd sent it, the box for entering my message remained large, obscuring the message I'd sent and making it impossible to scroll up and down the message history.

This is bad, but not as bad as the fact I can only respond to the person who most recently sent me a message. At this time of year, I often get several PMs a day from different posters. Only being able to respond to the most recent is a major issue.

Bluntly, the new PM system is close to unusable. It should never have been released in this state. It needs to be fixed.

Interesting. I ticked that box the second time I logged in today and I haven't had to login again since. Fingers crossed I'll still be logged in tomorrow.

The fact this works for me but not for others is more evidence that the new platform is seriously broken. It should never have been put live in this state.

I've just swopped to the app on my iPad, was used to the app on the phone so at least it's more familiar.

It’s horrible and I have to accept cookies every time I click into something new.

My biggest bugbear is still the fact that, when I click on a thread in my notifications, it takes me straight back to the first page - not to the po8nt e where I’d last read up to earlier in the day. This is a HUGE problem for me (and, I imagine, many others). I might “waste” time on MN, but I don’t want to spend the majority of it trying to find the page where I’d last read a post. If this isn’t fixed, I will definitely be steering away from MN.

the “quote a post within a quoted post within a quoted post” display looks like a dog’s dinner and is flipping useless.

I HATE the display/look of it/whatever the techie term is when reading a thread. It’s jarring and doesn’t flow easily. I hate the font, the gaps, the spacing. im so put-off by the layout that I haven’t done too much exploring of threads - am sure I’d have more to moan about if I used the site further today! Maybe MN want to get rid of longer-term users? 🤣

Also don’t like that, when looking at a list of threads, you can’t see who the latest post was from.

Think I’m going to take a break and check back early next week to see if there’s any improvement.

Why am I having to log in every single time?

Not keen either but I do like the emojis. The nested thing is crazy.

The unique visual identity is completely lost, just another forum now. The original was weirdly brilliant in its simplicity.

I think MN is trying to get rid of us dinosaurs.

Having a coloured bar for each post header made it much easier visually to make the distinction between separate posts - just having things in bold doesn’t work as well visually.

And, having just posted the above, I can now see what people mean by photos being so small (even when you click on them).

Well, that’s rubbish! Why is the image so tiny when I click on it? Not impressed 😡

When I click on threads I've posted on, it used to take me to the last page I'd read. Now it takes me to page 1 and then I'm meant to read through to find my place. I don't think this is an improvement honestly.

if you click on the little pointy arrow to the right it will take you to the corresponding post on the thread. It's not very obvious I'll grant you!
