How to discuss BBC 100 women list?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 07/12/2021 07:53

Hello

I've seen two threads attempting to discuss this list deleted today. Could you possibly give guidance about how the feminist issue of men taking the place of women in a list of women can be discussed on the feminism board without the thread being deleted?

OP posts:
BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 07/12/2021 17:22

Yup

We’re onto thread 4 now

No response from MNHQ to my request for clarification on how I can be clear that my objection to the inclusion of men on a list of women is because of their sex, not their trans status

I suspect they have written me off a Not A Nice Lady, therefore they are under no obligation to interact with me

OP posts:

You ain't the only one!!

@HoardingSamphireSaurus

You ain't the only one!!
For people so utterly obsessed with civility, it’s frankly bizarre

I guess what’s sauce for the goose isn’t sauce for the gander?

(Are we allowed to acknowledge that there are Lady Geese and Gentlemen Geese do you think?)

OP posts:
AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 07/12/2021 17:35

Ooooh. That's cutting it fine, @BernardBlackMissesLangCleg. You don't know how the geese identify.

Saucery · 07/12/2021 17:40

Wonder why we say “Have a gander?” and not “have a goose” ?
Are the males more likely to aggressively poke their beaks in where they aren’t welcome?

Redshoeblueshoe · 07/12/2021 17:49

And the thread about the murdered Canadian women has gone
FFS

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/12/2021 17:54

Why has that gone?

FindTheTruth · 07/12/2021 17:58

Is there any point staying on Mumsnet?

Today I saw a vulnerable mother ask for support and she is coming back to a nightmare thread after a transactivist derailed her support thread.

How can MNHQ alllow goady posts on ‘breast binding’, ‘hormones’ and puberty blockers, none of which were mentioned by the OP?

It’s as clear a derail as I’ve seen. The mother says' she's finding it hard to go on. MN call the cruel posts 'advice and support' and the psueudo science, debunked by the DfE and the High Court, 'opinions'.

10th rule of misogyny: The worst thing about male violence is that it makes men look bad. Hmm
Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/12/2021 17:59

Quite.

Oh dear!

Franca123 · 07/12/2021 18:04

Yeah. I think mumsnet as a place to discuss these matters is over. They've showered themselves in shit today. Disgraceful. No idea how they sleep at night.

Redshoeblueshoe · 07/12/2021 18:05

Absolutely 2319

LegoPandemic · 07/12/2021 18:05

Can I ask for a link to this list? I guess the important thing is that they are all biologically women ie XX chromosomes. What they choose to wear etc is less relevant as what our sex (not gender) achieve.

IntemperateSpirits · 07/12/2021 18:08

So a discussion about 14 Canadian women shot and killed for being born female, and a key speaker at their memorial who likes posting pictures of guns on social media and who gave a mememe speech rather than talk about Male Violence towards Women and Girls, gets deleted.

And a discussion about a list of 97 women, 50 of whom are Afghan and cannot possibly identify out of their oppression, is deleted repeatedly.

I am furious. Why can't we talk about it?

Agree 100% @IntemperateSpirits

Franca123 · 07/12/2021 18:18

Yet a thread encouraging a teenage girl to bind her breasts stays. A thread which also encourages getting puberty blockers from a suspended GP still stands. Does mumsnet hate women?

Franca123 · 07/12/2021 18:18

I hope a journalist is watching this.

FindTheTruth · 07/12/2021 18:27

This was the response I got from MN. They essentially leave a vulnerable mother who 'does not want to go on' asking for support for her lesbian daughter, faced instead ‘breast binding’, ‘hormones’ and puberty blockers, none of which were mentioned by the OP / mother.

This was the response from MN offering to move the vulnerable mother to the LGBT forum:

Hi FindTheTruth, and thanks for the report.
We've taken a look and can see that the post has been strongly challenged on the thread.
It doesn't break Talk guidelines so we'll let it stand for now.
We note that the OP is glad of the support received so far but it does seem to be a battleground of opposing views for providing support - we can move the thread to LGBT children if she'd prefer.
Best,
MNHQ

Does Mumsnet hate teenage lesbians and women now?

FindTheTruth · 07/12/2021 18:30

a battleground of opposing views

The plopper was posting links to a suspended GP, damaged teenage bodies and more. you couldn't make it up.

FindTheTruth · 07/12/2021 18:34

I want to join Ovarit, does anyone have a code they can ping me?

SpringCrocus · 07/12/2021 18:38

@BernardBlackMissesLangCleg

Yup

The fourth thread which, unlike the other three, has NO reference to what we are actually talking about. 🙄Which is just ridiculous!
Saucery · 07/12/2021 18:43

So the next time a parent posts about their worries for a dc who has an ED it’s fine for me to waltz on their thread and link pro-Ana sites and wang on about how all teenagers are too fat nowadays anyway so yes, their dc probably does need to lose weight?

I’d be deleted faster than you could say fuck the rights of women and girls

Franca123 · 07/12/2021 18:58

Is it OK to encourage self harm on mumsnet? Cus that's what chest binding is. I feel like I live in a different country. I'm so confused. Its not OK to state facts about trans women but its OK to encourage teenage girls to self harm. Wtaf.
