Three times today I have been forced to confirm my cookies settings even when trying to load the next page in a thread can you please sort this as it's getting really annoying

I’m on safari on an iPad. But surely you have various devices in house you can test this on to replicate it?

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 28/10/2020 08:34

It doesn’t matter what device or whether you’re on chrome, edge, android, safari, it’s happening on all of it. And yes to the PP who said there used to be a button to say reject all, why is this now something that needs to be suggested to ‘tech’ now? 🧐

ChillerKillerCroissant · 28/10/2020 13:39

I've just changed all the sliders again and come on to sign out - if we can't use the site without accepting the vendors 'legitimate interest' to use our data it would be easier just to say so on the privacy popup.

I read three pages yesterday before it bounced me out again. Not fun.

Saucery · 28/10/2020 13:43

I haven’t any problems with the pop up since I went to the Privacy option and unchecked everything there.
I haven’t double checked to see if it has reset itself yet.

Saucery · 28/10/2020 13:48

Aaannnnndddd.....yes it has reset all the Legitimate Interest toggles Angry
This is fraudulent data mining, surely?
I reset, haven’t logged out, not even namechanged, but it resets itself?

AdoptAdaptImprove · 28/10/2020 14:36

I’ve changed my preferences three times today, pressed ‘submit’. When I go back later, all of them have reverted to the settings as if I’ve accepted all.

This is not acceptable.

Saucery · 28/10/2020 14:38

Right, in less than an hour they’ve all reset themselves. No logging out etc.
Agree, totally unacceptable.

AnneOfQueenSables · 28/10/2020 15:00

I didn't even bother coming back on here yesterday to say it was still happening because tbh I'm not going to spend twenty minutes resetting privacy options so I can read a non-answer from MN.

This isn't acceptable. As PPs have said, posters are not logging out but their privacy permissions are resetting. If you click off the options for data permissions then click through to do the same in vendor permissions, then click back to data permissions - all the options have reset. It's impossible to refuse them and keep them clicked off.

If this is the best your IT team can do then you need external advisers. Currently, I doubt this is ICO or ASA compliant.

Yep, all of this.

Now I want it to ask again to change my settings it isn't coming up HmmAngry.

Saucery · 28/10/2020 16:07

@SunshineCake

Go to Privacy Settings at the bottom of the page, you get the same pop up when you click on that. However, it is a total waste of time, because it reverts to the original ‘Legitimate Interests’ toggles being switched on even after you have changed them.
SunshineCake · 28/10/2020 16:07

Also, for months I haven't had the ability to vote on AIBU threads. Why not?

SunshineCake · 28/10/2020 16:08

Thank you @Saucery. I will have a look..

BabbleBee · 28/10/2020 16:17

I turned all the settings to off / no yesterday. I haven’t logged out. Came back today but no pop up so I’ve checked my privacy settings as suggested and guess what.... my preference hadn’t been saved. So I’ve turned everything off again, submitted and gone straight back to it and everything is back to on.

@MNHQ this simply isn’t good enough. Has my data now been shared with your long list of vendors despite my efforts to turn off?

Saucery · 28/10/2020 16:21

I suppose we should be grateful that the pop up is so crappy it has alerted us to the fast practices of the site regarding unauthorised data mining!

AuntieStella · 28/10/2020 16:25

I cannot find the promised toggle anywhere on the 'settings' page.

Can anyone (or @MNHQ ) say exactly where it should be?

Cabinfever10 · 28/10/2020 17:02

Hi @mnhq like others on this thread and the 1 in AIBU my preference is not being stored and keeps resetting to allow settings that i have repeatedly turned off back on. After almost 3 days can someone please fix this ASAP

OP posts:
AuntieStella · 28/10/2020 17:06

Ok - I found the privacy settings, and went in to check.

And found that all the tabs I'd switched off had switched themselves back on again.

@MNHQ thus is simply not good enough. I want my choices to be properly saved.

48 clicks it takes to make the choices.

I navigate back to the thread, and what happens? The fucking pop up pops up, again, with all those 48 tabs turned back on again

I am very cross about this

FeedTheVoodooLilyMumsnet · 28/10/2020 17:48

Hi all

Please bear with us - we're just waiting for some information to pass over. We understand this is really frustrating, and we'll be back with more of an update as soon as we hear back from our tech team.

AuntieStella · 28/10/2020 17:53

Are you able to confirm whether cookies have been places despite my express wishes (on this thread) and best efforts with the pop up?

And can you please tell us when there is going to be an update.

This sort of breach requires urgent action, and the suspension of all vendor cookies (possibly all non-essential cookies) until you can be sure that user's preferences are being respected

Frdd · 29/10/2020 07:45

Is there an update?

tiredbuthappytoday · 29/10/2020 07:46

I advise everyone to scroll the bottom & check their privacy settings as I just have. Despite meticulously unticking everything TWICE, some of them (new ones?) were unticked & presumably merrily mining my data! Please explain this Mumsnet as this is not on.

tiredbuthappytoday · 29/10/2020 07:47

Oh and stop talking about referring issues to 'tech', just take responsibility for the issue.

AuntieStella · 29/10/2020 07:49

When will the promised update appear?

And how long is it now that you have been permitting the mining our data, irrespective of user's preferences and consent, because you have not provided an effective opt out?

Frdd · 29/10/2020 08:03

I ended up just accepting all but I’m not sure I’m happy with that.

It surely isn’t proportionate to make people take ages clicking opt out every few minutes to loads of vendors?
