Three times today I have been forced to confirm my cookies settings even when trying to load the next page in a thread can you please sort this as it's getting really annoying

Spent ages refusing consent to all the vendors yet again to come on and see if anyone else was having this issue. If there isn't a decline all button - which includes the 'legitimate interest' of advertisers to use our data - I doubt I'll be going through the list yet again.

What element of this system is not retaining the user choices?

cologne4711 · 27/10/2020 14:04

Hi MN I am getting fed up with this. I suspect that I keep getting the cookies permissions because I am giving the "wrong" answer - ie I don't want them.

Once I've said no, I mean no. It isn't reasonable to keep trying to get me to change my mind.

cologne4711 · 27/10/2020 14:05

That said, I am not sure users can decline "legitimate interest" - it's a different lawful basis to consent.

SwedishEdith · 27/10/2020 14:07

@ManiacalMumsnet

Hi all, and apologies for the upset.

Along with many other sites, and to follow recommendations from the IAB, we've implemented a consent platform on Mumsnet. This gives you even more choice over the data that can be collected and used - which is why you are now seeing a new pop-up with a lot of privacy options.

We're still tweaking the settings - because each time we work with a new advertiser we need to make a change to make sure everything is up to date. We've made what we hope is the final change to today and things should settle down as it beds in. You can read more about the Consent Management Platform here.
Apologies once again and thanks for bearing with us.

Sorry, if this is the final change, it's clearly not working. I want a 'reject all' option and for that to be remembered. Other sites manage this so it's not an unreasonable request.

Other platforms allow you to to object to legitimate purposes but most of the legitimate websites and companies choose a platform that let you click a total of three or four buttons, one for each area and toggle all to off with a single button.

P.s it’s still happening!

JuliaJohnston · 27/10/2020 14:12

Twice within 15 minutes! Hmm
And this is the after the final change, eh? Not sure I could be arsed anymore.

Datun · 27/10/2020 14:17

Same here. Mobile site, chrome, iPhone X.

Feels like it will keep asking until it gets the right answer.

And yes, a reject all, would be useful.

Salcara · 27/10/2020 14:32

I’m using my iPad, version 14.1 - same problem on both Safari and Chrome

Your site developer needs to work on a better solution than forcing every user to redo their permissions every time you add or remove an advertising platform, or you’ll be subject to a stream of complaints to the IAB as this isn’t user friendly

I'm still getting this annoying pop-up, AND I'm getting it repeatedly, even if I click the "I agree" button!

AuntieStella · 27/10/2020 14:58

It's just done it to me again. Three times in a row.

Also, it should be made clearer that there are options you may wish to turn on or off in the 'see vendors' bit at the bottom.

If someone thinks they may have given permissions they did not want to, how can they go back in to check/amend?

Saucery · 27/10/2020 15:06

I’m fed up of this. Impossible to submit preferences and it will only vanish if you say I’m OK With This.

LaMarschallin · 27/10/2020 15:11

Me too.
Chrome on android mobile site, although does that actually matter?
The questions about what device/browser/server always seem to be asked if there's a problem, like it'll suddenly become obvious that eg the combination of "safari with ipad on brown, hold the mayo" or some such is causing all the problems.

Whereas you already know you've "implemented a consent site" and are "tweaking the settings" so presumably that's why there's a problem.
At least a screenshot hasn't been requested. Yet.

(This will probably just go to show how little I know about IT though)

MitziK · 27/10/2020 15:19

And it's happened again now.

Despite refusing consent for everything, I then had to go through and individually decline 48 separate items, including Google Advertising and companies that said they measured the success of advertising (so therefore would monitor purchases made outside clicking on links), which, as I had already declined marketing cookies, does not count as a fucking legitimate interest.

Introduce a decline all button like other sites do (and make sure that decline all means decline all), or you're just making it clear that your intention is to extricate as much personal data from people discussing domestic violence, sexual assault, mental illness, politics and some shopping to flog to whatever company fancies targeting Women for their client's political opinions, their fears of male violence, their previous traumas - and, very occasionally, whether they like Hush clothes or not.

Odile13 · 27/10/2020 15:24

I get the message multiple times a day despite clicking “I Accept” every time. It’s very annoying and makes it so hard to browse the site. Sometimes it gets frozen so I have to shut the whole thing down. I also have to log in multiple times a day despite clicking “remember me”. I’m using Safari on my iPhone.

iVampire · 27/10/2020 15:25

I missed that you need to turn off permissions in the vendor list

How can I go back in to amend my preferences?

Ghouliet · 27/10/2020 15:31

Same here, three time’s today I’ve had to trawl through that list to reject the legitimate concerns. You need to include an “object all” button like other sites are doing. I’m using safari on iPhone.

rslsys · 27/10/2020 15:31

Just happened again on Edge on Windows 10. I'm spending longer setting my preferences than I am reading the site. Global 'all off' option button, please, like they have on reasonable sites :-)

SunshineCake · 27/10/2020 15:33

Chrome iPad. Three times.

SunshineCake · 27/10/2020 15:35

I clicked agree when I didn't want to. I know that's on me but it leaves a bad taste. I just wanted it to go away.

soniamumsnet · 27/10/2020 15:59

Hi, thanks for all these reports. We'll pass on the feedback re. a single button. Flowers

tiredbuthappytoday · 27/10/2020 16:05

Agree with everyone above. Why no reject all option and if I have to untick everything one more time I'm done! Need a reason to stop wasting time on here tbh Grin

Cleanerdilemma · 27/10/2020 16:09

This is really frustrating. I don’t mind you checking on a regular basis but maybe once a month not every day or so? You are clearly making it hard for people to reject options which is very frustrating.
