Seasons greetings one and all

We're happy to announce our new Talk App for Android is now ready to go and available for download from the Google Play store, just in time for Christmas too. Xmas Grin

As this is our first crack at the Android version, we will be adding more features and updates as we go along. At this stage we'd really appreciate your feedback (good and bad...) about using the app and if it's working for you. Let us know how you get on.

Many thanks to all of our testers. Please delete the test app and download this one instead.

I still can't log into the Android app. I've changed my password and know that I'm entering the right one. It's so frustrating. Any idea what us going wrong?

It's incredibly slow. Slower than the mobile site.
To load TIO and this thread. I got a blank screen for ages.

That was me (testingusername)

It's incredibly slow. Slower than the mobile site.
It failed to change the username, even though I typed it.
It gave an error message saying it failed to post (the third?).
Then I couldn't reload the thread or TIO even.

If I click on a subject on TIO I regularly can only open the one I have read most recently. I have to go back to Active and then into TIO. But by far the worst thing is remembering not to use an ampersand otherwise it cuts off the post. please please fix that. also the capitals after a full stop.

I thought I'd give the new android app a try, but it seems to delete over half my posts. And it is very slow.

Hi everyone

Just to update you, we'll be releasing an update of the app this week which will include bug fixes to the 'Threads I'm on' feature and the ampersand cutting off thread posts.

As soon as this update has been released, we'll post back on this thread to let you know.

Ah, so sorry poisonedbypen - that's not quite the right username. But actually, the best way to get our attention or ask questions is here on the thread - that way other MNers can benefit from the answer (and individual staff members are less likely to be squished by the weight of their own inboxes ;-) Thanks again.

A search function would be really useful.

It can be quite slow to load.

Good afternoon Android users!

Thank again for your patience - we have been working on the issues and bugs which you've raised with us and we've now released an update with the below fixes:

  • Time out error fixed
  • Forgot password link enabled
  • Double posting fixed
  • Ampersand cuts fixed
  • Thread dates fixed
  • Thread roulette fixed
  • Start of sentences capitalised
  • Scroll indicator in threads

Here's a bit of info on updating the app on your phone:
If your phone's settings are switched to automatically update downloads, the update should download automatically. If not, please open the Google Playstore app, hit menu (top left icon), and select 'My apps & games. This will give you a list of the apps that have updates available. The Mumsnet Talk app should be in the list - just click on it to update.

Please bring back being able to see your whole post at once. I can't create line breaks or see my post in paragraphs. Leading to alot of typos. Confused

Same here. I can't create paragraphs in the android app. The return button seems to disappear altogether.

Don't know if this has already been said but it would be nice to be ablr to refresh an individual thread by pulling down from the top. Also want to be able to add photos and see my whole post/create paragraphs. TVM
