New Android app!

Seasons greetings one and all

We're happy to announce our new Talk App for Android is now ready to go and available for download from the Google Play store, just in time for Christmas too. Xmas Grin

As this is our first crack at the Android version, we will be adding more features and updates as we go along. At this stage we'd really appreciate your feedback (good and bad...) about using the app and if it's working for you. Let us know how you get on.

Many thanks to all of our testers. Please delete the test app and download this one instead.

Thanks everyone for your feedback so far - we're working to resolve some of the issues and will be releasing an update of the app with bug fixes in 2 weeks' time.

Some features - for example, bookmarking and hiding threads - aren't available in the app yet, but we will be adding new features as we go.

In the meantime, here are the answers to some of your 'how to' questions:

To flip a thread, look for the circle button with plus sign at the bottom right of the screen. Click it and select option to flip thread.

To refresh a thread, drag down on a thread feed

To start new thread, go to the top left menu and select option to start a new thread. Add a title, click on topic and wait for topic list to appear. Choose your topic. Write your post then post it by clicking the button on the top right.

Hi everyone

Just to update you, we'll be releasing an update of the app this week which will include bug fixes to the 'Threads I'm on' feature and the ampersand cutting off thread posts.

As soon as this update has been released, we'll post back on this thread to let you know.

Ah, so sorry poisonedbypen - that's not quite the right username. But actually, the best way to get our attention or ask questions is here on the thread - that way other MNers can benefit from the answer (and individual staff members are less likely to be squished by the weight of their own inboxes ;-) Thanks again.

Good afternoon Android users!

Thank again for your patience - we have been working on the issues and bugs which you've raised with us and we've now released an update with the below fixes:

  • Time out error fixed
  • Forgot password link enabled
  • Double posting fixed
  • Ampersand cuts fixed
  • Thread dates fixed
  • Thread roulette fixed
  • Start of sentences capitalised
  • Scroll indicator in threads

Here's a bit of info on updating the app on your phone:
If your phone's settings are switched to automatically update downloads, the update should download automatically. If not, please open the Google Playstore app, hit menu (top left icon), and select 'My apps & games. This will give you a list of the apps that have updates available. The Mumsnet Talk app should be in the list - just click on it to update.

Hiya,

We have released an update for Android with the following bug fixes:

  • Double posting error
  • Not being able to post paragraphs or line breaks
  • You can now start a thread in the topics page

The update should be available in the next 2-24 hours

Hi all

We are releasing another update for the Android Talk app.
We are introducing the new Search feature to Android which allows you to search our threads on Talk.
The release also includes some bug fixes.
We would love to hear your feedback and if you like the app, don't forget to rate us on Google playstore Grin.

Currently there is not an option to attach photos on the app but we are working on implementing this and more features very soon.

We're really sorry to hear the app isn't endearing itself to some of you right now. We've passed all your feedback on to our tech team and they are looking into this for you.

Redpriestandmozart - try clearing your cache to fix that one, just
go to settings>applications>talk>clear cache. That should sort it
