Rules around banning?

TheUnworthy · 13/11/2016 21:54

Feeling a little nervous after the recent thread that went 'poof' and reports of people being banned and not knowing why/not having any deleted posts beforehand.

Is there a three strike rule? No strikes?

Crashdoll, I was referring to the ignorance on that actual thread, it wasn't aimed at you!
I'm a bit exasperated by here atm so I'm not sure if it reads as if I'm aiming it at you or not, but I'm not. I meant the situation as it played out on the thread (I think if you'd have read it my post might be clearer)
Sorry

If a lot of people thought you were trolling or goady Bob, MNHQ must have agreed to ban you.

crashdoll · 14/11/2016 18:49

Oh ok Owl, no worries. One of those lost in translation things, I think. Hope you're ok.

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 18:49

Doesn't mean they were right though

YonicProbe · 14/11/2016 18:53

Mmm.

But it's MNHQ's site; they encourage reports rather than GF or troll hunting and they review reported posts to see if they agree with reports that lines have been crossed. If they do, they act; if they don't, they send a "we see where you are coming from but.. " type message.

I've had both responses following reports.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 14/11/2016 18:57

Well, apart from that they stopped replying to reports any more! My beyond inbox is sad and empty now :(

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 18:57

I had no responses from anything and I made several reports of people calling me a troll (I wasn't, I just had a differing opinion).

Even now I feel I can't talk too much about it without the risk of being banned.

But knowing the details behind it, I still feel it was an unfair ban for the reasons given

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 14/11/2016 18:58

Hang on, I thought bob was talking about deleted messages only. Have you been banned, bob?

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 19:02

Yes and reopened.

But it was a horrid process of being ignored, not being told why, then having to create a new account, writing a post then reporting own post with a 'please contact me over being banned' message.

YonicProbe · 14/11/2016 19:03

Ah, yeah, they stopped responding to every report a month or two ago.

They do usually delete posts saying someone is a,troll, whether or not they agree, as troll hunting isn't allowed. Did those posts about you not get deleted, Bob?

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 14/11/2016 19:04

Oh yes, sorry - I remember you saying upthread now

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 19:06

The whole thread got deleted, it was 1000 posts long and just disappeared. Was a shame really.

But no, before it got deleted from what I recall it was pretty one-sided. That said, they could have, I don't read back so couldn't really say for sure.

myyoyo · 14/11/2016 19:18

Teacher Bob I've seen you getting a bashing on a specific part of the site a couple of times.
TBH I haven't seen eye to eye with some of your posts in that section, but I wouldn't have thought you were being goady.

Could someone from MNHQ please explain what you mean when you sign off an e-mail with go well? Is that your polite way of saying fuck off?

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 22:36

Ty, I really was trying my best to just explain my view.

Sadly the result now is, I just completely avoid that section now. When threads pop up in trending I read them, and then I always check to see what section they are in, before responding.
I feel I have to do this because there are certain sections that I will get crucified in, purely because of my gender.

I really think that is a shame. Because if there is stuff I need to learn, how will I learn if I am being frightened away from even discussing it. And how can people think they can change the world if they won't even discuss it properly without just shutting people down.

Such is life, I guess

myyoyo · 14/11/2016 22:46

Not sure if I've seen you on the same section that you're referring to as I don't think that gender is particularly an issue over there, so we might be talking at cross purposes.
