Rules around banning?

TheUnworthy · 13/11/2016 21:54

Feeling a little nervous after the recent thread that went 'poof' and reports of people being banned and not knowing why/not having any deleted posts beforehand.

Is there a three strike rule? No strikes?

OP posts:
YonicProbe · 14/11/2016 22:54

Not purely because of your sex, Bob.

YonicProbe · 14/11/2016 22:56

Else any male poster would be found goady, Bob.

YonicProbe · 14/11/2016 22:56

Which is far from the case, Bob.

crashdoll · 14/11/2016 23:03

I haven't seen many of your posts TeacherBob but I doubt it's because you're male. I didn't even know you were male. There's quite a few posters who I'm not sure about because their names do not particularly reflect either sex.

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 23:06

Not sure if I've seen you on the same section that you're referring to as I don't think that gender is particularly an issue over there, so we might be talking at cross purposes.

Erm, I wouldn't say I get a lot of bashing. I would say I get a bashing from a certain few people and they tend to pull me up on my posts nm what the thread is about.
I only really hang in the education bit and it was a bit rough at first, people didn't appear to like new posters, but that has settled down now. Is that the section you were talking about?
I was talking about accidentally posting in the feminism section and telling them they were wrong. It didn't go too well :/

myyoyo · 14/11/2016 23:08

Ah yes I was talking about education.

TeacherBob · 14/11/2016 23:11

Ahh cool. TBH with education there will always be people I rub up the wrong way because I am extremely passionate and have very high standards and expectations. I also have strong beliefs that aren't always conventional :p

Devilishpyjamas · 14/11/2016 23:19

Tell us more teacherbob (am intetested in strong non conventional beliefs!)

bialystockandbloom · 14/11/2016 23:23

I know it's been kicking off a bit here for a while re Mnhq, trams stuff, disablism etc but I haven't really read much and am at a complete loss as to what's been happening here.

But wannabe fanjo and jason all gone?? Wtaf? Shock Sad All fabulous for different reasons - hope they all come back.

MN must just be a reflection of the utter fucking madness of the world this year.

bialystockandbloom · 14/11/2016 23:25

*trans not trams

bialystockandbloom · 14/11/2016 23:27

And I don't know wannabe too well but the other two in particular seem to me to have a real need for the support from mners, more than many others. Hope there's support for them in RL. I see above that pp know wannabe but is anyone in touch with fanjo or Jason in RL?

Butteredpars1ps · 14/11/2016 23:58

There is a thread currently that does this site no credit whatsoever, and yet there have been very few deletions. This is despite some very obvious troll hunting and a number of nasty posts to a vulnerable sounding OP.

Even if the OP is a troll, and it is a situation where I would prefer to give the benefit of the doubt, the scenario happens to too many women each day. How can a parenting site condone (and in the absence of deletions you are condoning) attacking an OP in this way?

YonicProbe · 15/11/2016 00:24

Have you reported, buttered?

JustAnotherSadOldNumber · 16/11/2016 02:35

It's very odd, surely if mnhq think someone is repeatedly being a cunty bollocks they would email a warning or something?

It's very hit and miss, sometimes they send a, "We've had lots of reports" email, sometimes they don't. Depends who's on duty at the time.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/11/2016 12:33

I'm really struggling to understand now what is acceptable. Because early today I reported someone who actually said they deliberately troll sites using a really unpleasant underhand technique. They are still there, no deletion, no nothing.

It seems that people can be deliberately goady - say really nasty things about collective groups, yet get away with it. Others can be good people who sometimes call out what they see and they are the ones that get banned. If mn responded quickly to reports, instead of it feeling as though they are just dropping into a black hole, maybe fewer of those who are snapping because nothing gets done would be banned.

I've been despairing at some of the political posts over the past few months.

PurpleDaisies · 16/11/2016 12:39

Did they say they were trolling this site? Just saying they behave badly elsewhere isn't grounds for deletion. I haven't seen the post you're talking about so I'm not sure if it was deletion worthy. Sometimes it takes a while for MNHQ to delete posts-maybe they're having a busy morning.

MsGameandWatch · 16/11/2016 13:17

Spot on.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/11/2016 13:24

no they didn't purple, but their behaviour suggests otherwise and the manner of trolling was particularly unpleasant. However, it isn't about one particular poster, more an illustration that I am struggling to understand where lines are being drawn at present.

Ghostofasmile · 16/11/2016 13:34

There isn't any lines drawn, HQ make it up as they go along, it's as simple as that. Which is way a poster who has been here years and snaps once at a goady fucker who has been here 6 months and gets banned with no email or anything (in wannabes case).

It's an absolute joke.

Ghostofasmile · 16/11/2016 13:36

All the while they are surprised long term posters are snapping at them. I don't condone it, but it's understandable.

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 16/11/2016 14:30

Yy.

TrippyMcTrapFace · 16/11/2016 16:15

"I am struggling to understand where lines are being drawn at present."

YY.
I've been struggling with this for quite a while now, but lately more than ever.

bumbleymummy · 16/11/2016 16:24

Yes, it doesn't seem to be as simple as 'just following talk guidelines'. Some people get posts deleted all the time for breaking guidelines but don't get suspended/banned while others can get suspended without breaking guidelines and/or having only ever had a few posts deleted.

WorraLiberty · 16/11/2016 18:12

Can I make a suggestion? (haven't RTFT so someone might have already said this).

Why don't HQ send any warnings via inbox on here?

Surely I'm not the only one who never checks the email address they signed up with?

If I had a warning, I honestly wouldn't know about it but if the little symbol appeared to say I've got a PM, I'd read it straight away.
