I'm trying (perhaps a little obsessively at this point) to develop a theory that explains the presence of intense misogyny in the trans movement. On the face of it it seems illogical to wish to be identified as part of a group that you dislike so much. So here goes ...

I believe that when a trans person says they are female, what they are identifying with is not the sense or reality of womanhood that a biological woman experiences but what the trans person declares their sense of womanhood to be. This will always be a different reality because fundamentally and intrinsically they are not a woman. Is their dislike of biological women based upon an awareness of this, jealousy that that there is an "otherness" about being a woman that they can never truly achieve? So instead, they want to force the social and biological definitions of womanhood to be changed so that they are now complete women?

In effect, if we get to the point where any person with a penis can decide that they are woman then effectively every human is or can be a woman by default. Womanhood therefore becomes redundant, it is eradicated and subsumed into a variant of maleness. Which means there can't be discrimination against women anymore... A bit like declaring that everyone is white no matter what colour they are so there's no more racism...

I don't know, I think my theory makes the trans movement sound like an evil anti-woman conspiracy which is silly and not all (most hopefully) trans activists dislike woman of course. I do think there are elements of my theory present though on a more individual level. It still blows my mind that a person who dislikes women and lebsians wants to identify as a woman. He hates us but he wants to be us... or destroy us?

I registered on MN just today and find this thread!

Something's always puzzled me. A friend of mine worked in the Gender Identity Clinic at a London hospital many years ago. It was usually men who wanted to be surgically altered to be seen as women and they were referred to as transexual. What she & I found confusing is that some of these men were already living with other men (as gays presumably) and continued to do so after one of them had been hormonally and physically altered to look like a woman, i.e. removal of genitalia and the fashioning of a vulva & vagina from the remains of the penis.

The live-in boyfriend was now banging a ‘woman’, but if he was gay how does all this square? I cannot unravel this at all.

Yes this is amazing and not just women. There have been some brilliant dads and fathers - men - standing up to this utter rubbish too.
