The great emoji debate

Afternoon everyone,

So: emojis. We've had a few questions about these over the last few days. Some of you love them and some of you loathe them. The truth of the matter is that they came into being as a side-effect of a technical fix that we did; we didn't set out to introduce them (and in fact, didn't expect you to discover them quite as quickly as you did Grin). On the question of whether they stay or whether they go, it's really up to you lot. We can get rid of them again; equally, if you like having them, we're happy for them to stay. Over to you ...

btw doesn't this eff things up a bit for the whole Cadburys thing?

AuntieStella · 07/12/2015 16:39

Does this one piss off Cadbury's 🍫 ?

AuntieStella · 07/12/2015 16:40

Wow - quite a x-post!

QueenYnci · 07/12/2015 16:40

I don't like them, can't explain exactly why but they just look out of place.

Stasie · 07/12/2015 16:41
Xmas Grin

They are too big and don't match those on my keypad. I still like to have the option of using them.

SoupDragon · 07/12/2015 16:45

As they don't display correctly on all devices, I think they should go.

Take them away please!

They ruin the MN Smiley set.

And the formatting makes some pages a bit messy - a lot of times you get squares, or cross squares.

00100001 · 07/12/2015 16:48

I like MN because you don't get all the stupid smileys, tickers, signatures, avatars etc. you get on other forums.

Pumpkinmoon · 07/12/2015 16:52

I don't like them. They look messy and detract from the text.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/12/2015 16:54

I like them.

Stasie · 07/12/2015 16:55

I wouldn't mind a thumbs up emoticon though. They have one on the pprune and I always want to use it here, but there isn't one.

SteamPunkGoth · 07/12/2015 16:57

Oh. I like them. Didn't know we could use em on here. 🍷🍰🌵

PurpleTreeFrog · 07/12/2015 16:58

Why are they showing up massive...?

SteamPunkGoth · 07/12/2015 16:58

🌵🐲🍂🏹🎽 I like them!

Hate them. Too big, too garish. The few MN ones are ok, but the emojis look like we're on a teenagers site.

Can't get worked up about them really.

They're just part of social networking interactions, so MN was going to have to embrace them sooner or later.

Stasie · 07/12/2015 17:01

Gloria, wouldn't you appreciate an emoji for that? Xmas Grin

They're normal sized for me.
