Following on from discussion on another thread - could we have a Scottish section, please?

The local information is good, but it is too local to apply to the whole of Scotland, if you see what I mean.

Aww I like the name Mawsnet. Sad

friendofsadgirl · 26/03/2015 07:16

Glebe Street in Dundee? Wink

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 26/03/2015 07:19

Scottish dads could have Bawsnet.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 26/03/2015 07:19

No voters could stick to Nawsnet

treaclesoda · 26/03/2015 07:33

I think it's a great idea. I've seen so many Scottish and (N Ireland) posters get a sniffy 'don't you mean Y1?' when they say their child is in P1 for example. No, they don't. They mean P1. It's what it's called, and it's not the same as Y1.

didyouwritethe · 26/03/2015 07:45

I fully support a Mawsnet.

As long as you get out into that heather and find Scottishmummy.

frankie80 · 26/03/2015 07:59

How about Mamsnet rather than Mawsnet?

Or the more boring MNScotland?

YouFargingIceHole · 26/03/2015 08:11

I wouldn't post in a local board because I prefer to remain anonymous. A Scottish board would make it easier to keep that distance whilst being more relevant to many of the topics I'm interested in.

Pretty please MNHQ?

youmakemydreams · 26/03/2015 08:22

I would use a scottish board for the reasons all stated above. I was on a thread recently with people posting links relating to education and despite it being pointed out that they didn't apply in Scotland it was largely ignored.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 26/03/2015 09:09

Bawbagsnet! That's the one! Agreed? Yes?

Fail! Blush

OOAOML · 26/03/2015 09:55

Why is bawbagsnet a brilliant name? Not everyone in Scotland uses words like that. Just like we're not all 'maws'

StayingSamVimesGirl · 26/03/2015 10:10

I know not everyone uses bawbag or maw - but we all know these words, and when I saw the Mawsnet name on the other thread, it was the sort of sideways humour that makes me smile - hence my using it here.

I love the wry humour of Scotland, and Mawsnet sort-of represents that for me - that's all.

OP posts:
OOAOML · 26/03/2015 10:18

Maw doesn't bother me (although I don't like the word and don't use it) but bawbag is a word I've often seen used as an insult. I also think it isn't very inclusive - there are lots of regional accents/dialects and not everyone in Scotland uses them.

Witchofthenorth · 26/03/2015 10:18

Of course it's not a brilliant name, it's not to everyone's liking.... I think it's a brill name....

I also like mawsnet, but I hate it when my DC call me maw....they get the death stare until they call me mum...

I like them both because they are both Scottish Smile

Id be just as happy with mumsnet Scotland or mumsnet alba or mumsnet for those wummin across the border.

Appin · 26/03/2015 10:28

I would love a Scottish section.

iHAVEtogetoutofhere · 26/03/2015 10:30

It would certainly be useful to have a separate Scottish section for Education, SN, Law and possibly nhs too.

Folk from down South can get frustrated when they try to help but have NO CLUE how different these things can be...
