Following on from discussion on another thread - could we have a Scottish section, please?

The local information is good, but it is too local to apply to the whole of Scotland, if you see what I mean.

yes and not having to explain about no spring half term, no whitsun and the Tattie Hols.

I'm in!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 25/03/2015 18:49

Sounds good to me too.

WastingMyYoungYears · 25/03/2015 18:53

I'd like a Scottish topic too Smile.

Jackieharris · 25/03/2015 19:15

Yes so many of the common chat topics on mn are Scottish/English specific eg private renting law, elections & politics, tv shows, education, higher education, nursery entitlement, NHS, house buying/selling, school holidays, flat living, social work/adoption issues, debt, history, literature, even what drugs they use in childbirth!

frankie80 · 25/03/2015 19:17

I started the other thread because I don't see many scottish MNers around plus as PPs said, the Scottish local boards are DEAD therefore its hard to find local people for meet ups.

Also, if we want to ask questions about scottish education, these threads quickly disappear because of all the english education threads bumping them down.

Mumsnet should do topics for Scotland, Wales and NI to avoid any complaints.

I like mawsnet but it might be easier to just have a topic called MN-Scotland

stargirl1701 · 25/03/2015 19:23

Yes please!

AndThisIsTrue · 25/03/2015 19:25

Yes please, my local board is deserted, would be nice to find some more local folk to chat to!

Witchofthenorth · 25/03/2015 19:31

Oh here....A mawsnet sounds great! I'm another one who is well up for that. Would make such a difference when it comes to legal and educational stuff! Half the time I read through a thread that I find is pertinent to me, but the advice isn't cos it's covers English education/legislation.

Awwww come oan....please MNHQ, gies us all a Scottish board, just for a wee lookie and see how it gings ??

PinPon · 25/03/2015 19:31

Yes please!

theladylovescupcakes · 25/03/2015 19:33

I'm keen too please!

ArseForElbow · 25/03/2015 19:38

Yes please Smile

TheScottishPlay · 25/03/2015 19:40

Yes, not sure about Mawsnet though, maybe Mithersnet for eastcoasters.

cashewnutty · 25/03/2015 19:41

I think its a great idea. The education system and the legal system are so different in Scotland. Please MNHQ gie us mawsnet.

McFox · 25/03/2015 19:51

Yes please Smile

I wouldn't say that all of the local boards are dead, but they do tend to be dominated by private schools chat where I am. That and people who ask for help, get responses, then never come back (pet hate!)

beatofthedrum · 25/03/2015 19:56

I'd really like a section too but not madly keen on mawsnet...

NobbyNobs · 25/03/2015 20:33

Yes please!

frankie80 · 25/03/2015 21:15

scots on this thread are a mixture of yes and no referendum voters.

This request for mawsnet has nothing to do with feelings towards the rest of the UK

I say that as the one who started the other thread and I was a 'no' voter.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 25/03/2015 21:16

I would like a Scottish section but please not Mawsnet.

PacificDogwood · 25/03/2015 21:17

MmeLindor Thanks

Momagain1 · 25/03/2015 22:11

As many Glaswegians as there are on the thread, I still just went and posted a link back to this on the local board, in case anyone lyrking there hadnt seen this.

Maybe others could share it on their local. No matter how low the traffic is, there could be someone rummaging about in the next few days.

LentilAsAnything · 25/03/2015 22:23

MmeLindor, you were a Star on our local board, and in RL when I moved over here. Thank you. But it wasn't busy enough in general, not your fault. I think, as a newby non-Scot, I'd find a general Scottish section quite useful.

MostAmused · 25/03/2015 23:14

Most of the time it's bloody irritating when for example a celebrity 'Tours the UK' with 5 dates in the UK and 1 in Scotland. Or the when BBC news splits into loads of different counties for England but not for Scotland etc.
But in this case there aren't enough users to make the individual mumsnet local sites work.

I would definitely use a Scotland/Mawsnet board!

friendofsadgirl · 25/03/2015 23:29

Gonnae? Gonnae? I'll gie yis a wee sweetie if yis dae!

It would be useful, especially with legal matters and education.

MostAmused · 25/03/2015 23:43

D'oh *that should read: 5 dates in England and 1 in Scotland...

member · 25/03/2015 23:45

Good idea but not Mawsnet, too weegie a term to encompass Scots living more than 10 miles from Glebe Street
