Following on from discussion on another thread - could we have a Scottish section, please?

The local information is good, but it is too local to apply to the whole of Scotland, if you see what I mean.

I'm also v happy with MumsnetAlba assuming of course that MNHQ actually a agree with all of this-

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2015 13:20

Alba is shorter? MumsnetScotland is a lot more typing....

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2015 13:21

Also, what's wrong with Alba

SirChenjin · 26/03/2015 13:47

No-one calls Scotland 'Alba' outside of a tiny Gaelic speaking population, that's why. We wouldn't actually have to type MumsnetScotland - it would be the title of a thread that we would post under.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 26/03/2015 13:52

I think a wee Scottish section would be braw.
Jocknet? (joke)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2015 13:52

Unless we were signposting people towards it?

I guess you're right though, it never occurred to me that people would not know what Alba meant/ would find it divisive.

SirChenjin · 26/03/2015 13:55

There are other threads with just as many letters in them though - it's not that long a name to type out and it would probably be shortened to MNScotland or something, like S&B often it.

OOAOML · 26/03/2015 14:00

I didn't know what Alba meant until about a year ago, had never heard it.

StayingSamVimesGirl · 26/03/2015 14:28

I have lived in Scotland for over 6 years now, and I have not yet had a deep fried mars bar. Blush I'll get packed, shall I? Sad

OP posts:
OOAOML · 26/03/2015 14:44

I don't think many people actually eat deep fried mars bars do they? I was born here and have lived here for over 40 years, and I can only think of one person I know that has eaten one.

tabulahrasa · 26/03/2015 14:48

I don't know anyone that's had one either.

But, I did once queue behind a teenager in a chippy who ordered a Cadbury's caramel supper...so some people are indeed eating deep fried chocolate Confused

SirChenjin · 26/03/2015 14:55

I know of someone who's had a deep fried Mars Bar - but she's from Coatbridge

Grin
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2015 14:56

I've never had a deep fried Mars bar either Sad. I did used to be rather fond of deep fried pizza, chips, and irn bru. Never pizza crunch though, I do have some standards!

SirChenjin · 26/03/2015 14:58

What is this pizza crunch of which you speak??!

A deep fried Mars Bar actually sounds quite delicious - in a dirty sort of way

EeyoresTail · 26/03/2015 15:00

I hope you don't mind an Englander voicing an opinion but I think it's a good idea to have a Scottish section Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/03/2015 15:05

Deep fried pizza is a pure unsullied pizza simply cooked in the fryer.
The abomination that is pizza crunch is battered before frying Shock

SirChenjin · 26/03/2015 15:08

That sounds lovely...what am I missing?! Confused

tabulahrasa · 26/03/2015 15:09

"Deep fried pizza is a pure unsullied pizza"

I like deep fried pizza, but, that is not a sentence I've ever imagined seeing, lol.

I can kind of wrap my head round fried chocolate, I don't fancy it, but gooey greasy chocolatey stuff, ok...but as a supper?... Hmm

ArseForElbow · 26/03/2015 15:10

Oh I've never had a pizza crunch but my local chippy does deep fried Mars Bars, Ive never had one, neither have the DC.

GrouchyKiwi · 26/03/2015 15:24

I've had NZ's equivalent, the deep fried Moro bar, and it was so delicious I've had more than one.

SirChenjin · 26/03/2015 15:28

In which case, you are more than welcome to MNScotland Grouchy!

Bonnefoi · 26/03/2015 15:30

I'm onboard, even if I'm not a "maw". (Edinburgh-ish here).

Apintofbest · 26/03/2015 15:30

I've seen a deep fried bounty on a chippy menu - think that would be lush. First time we stood in queue behind someone who ordered pizza and the chippy guy unwrapped a frozen pizza and threw it in the fat fryer DH and I were like this to each other Shock Shock

GrouchyKiwi · 26/03/2015 15:37

DH promises me that deep fried pizza is amazing but I refuse to believe him, mostly because the last time he had one he was at school.

I've not actually been brave enough to try a deep fried Mars bar over here. Suspect my taste buds have matured somewhat in the years since I was a student and regularly had ice cream for lunch.

tabulahrasa · 26/03/2015 15:39

Deep fried pizzas are amazing...I mean you can almost hear your arteries hardening as you eat it, but it's worth it.
