Over 50's

Hi Ladies

Could we have an "over 50's" category?

I am seriously becoming more and more shocked and upset with AIBU/Chat. The amount of "scoffing" and nastiness on mumsnet is very unpleasant.

I don't swear at people (well, maybe sometimes when driving) but I do swear about people, especially politicians, trolls and general wank badgers.

And I am certain that I swear more since joining Mumsnet.

Marshy · 15/02/2015 17:47

Err can I just check.....what are we doing for food?

If it's takeaway, chicken in black bean sauce for me or a balti obvs

RandallFloyd · 15/02/2015 17:48

I'm only 35 but I look rough as a dog's arse so I reckon I could slip in unnoticed. You won't be IDing people will you?

I don't think that counts as swears, MrsDV. That's just adjectives innit.

"Most people mellow with age" Grin

Wish my ratbag of a mother had got that memo.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 15/02/2015 19:17

Peace and frizzing love already, no?!?

Honeydragon · 15/02/2015 19:21

i have been threatening to do a Slocombe for YEARS. One day, when I can afford a set it will happen...

magimedi · 15/02/2015 19:55

I use this shampoo twice weekly - keeps my white hair gleaming:

www.amazon.co.uk/LOreal-Professionnel-Silver-Shampoo-250ml/dp/B0031TSC34

It comes out of the bottle in the most purple of hues.

I love having white hair - I get seats given to me on trains, respect in foreign countries and no worries about roots.

I don't swear.

I have just become inordinately fond of the word Bollocks.

It fits so many situations.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/02/2015 20:41

Please Miss can I join?

I've got a garage full of booze left over from my silver wedding and a big bag of pistachio nuts. I'll bring my knitting and be really quiet and not very sweary.

Magi I really want beautiful white hair, but if DM and my big sisters are anything to go by then I will go iron grey Sad

I would love to embrace silver hair but so far I only have wire-like grey hairs. Yes, individual fucking hairs (see, Bad Word for emphasis )

Absolutely No Smoking - neither in the Nice Cupboard, nor the Old Hag Shed although a Smoker's Den would be ok (as long I would never have to go into it ) Grin

I still have several bottled of Lidl's Mulled Wine left over from Christmas ca. 2010. I am generously prepared to donate this for The Greater Good.

HD, a Mrs Slocombe hue of hair would suit your personality you.

MaryZ, vair nice, I approve. I know you have been waiting for my approval with baited breath. Not

RandallFloyd · 15/02/2015 21:56

I'd love gamine, pixie-cut hair but sadly I am rotund of face with undefined features.
I'd look more like Jimmy Krankie than Jamie Lee.
I can't imagine age is going to improve the situation.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/02/2015 15:51

My hair is still long and golden. Coupled with my short stature I must give people approaching from behind that 1666 surprise pretty often!

Randall - 'as rough as a dog's arse' ? Shock How very dare you? Are you insinuating that all us >50 people have let ourselves go? (also insulted on behalf of my dog who has a very neat and freshly bathed little bot today)

FruChristerOla · 16/02/2015 17:57

This is the shampoo and conditioner touch-of-silver.co.uk/products/twice-a-week-brightening-shampoo/ that I like, magi. It seems to work well - both with my natural gray and highlighted blonde hair!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 16/02/2015 20:17

I adore Jamie Lee Curtis. ADORE I tell you.

Magi's hair is really nice and she is the female equivalent of a silver fox - what would that be - a silver vixen?!?!??

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2015 23:14

Nothing of the sort, Errol.
More that I could probably pass for 50+ more easily than one would like.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/02/2015 19:05

Ah - you mean that you combine an air of aquired wisdom with the confidence of at last embracing your own style?

magimedi · 17/02/2015 19:55

Magi's hair is really nice and she is the female equivalent of a silver fox - what would that be - a silver vixen?!?!??

No one, ever, ever, ever, in my nearly 60 years on this planet has ever said anything as nice to me.

When we get to meet up Hearts (and I can't come to the March meet - bloody children to vist to help with about to be PFGC) -

The gins are all on me!

You have made my day!

And I am now thinking about a name change, to incorporate silver vixen!

RandallFloyd · 17/02/2015 19:56

Totes Wink

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 17/02/2015 22:19

Magi (((((hugs))))) just happy to spread the love Smile

I really MUST get onto organising or at least thinking about that meet up. There's also the Brighton one this weekend I was thinking of crashing but I don't think I can...
