Over 50's

Hi Ladies

Could we have an "over 50's" category?

I am seriously becoming more and more shocked and upset with AIBU/Chat. The amount of "scoffing" and nastiness on mumsnet is very unpleasant.

OP posts:

Try Gransnet? It's a lot more civilised.

BOFster · 14/02/2015 15:16

Here.

SoupDragon · 14/02/2015 15:20

I not sure what having an Over 50s topic would do that simply hiding the more unpleasant topics wouldn't. It also implies that only those of a certain age are "civilised" which isn't always the case :)

Pagwatch · 14/02/2015 15:21

I'm over 50 and also nasty and unpleasant. Where do I go ?

BIWI · 14/02/2015 15:22

What on earth is being over 50 to do with anything?! Do you think that people mysteriously morph from 'nasty' to 'nice' when they hit 50?! Grin

No way should anything on here be segregated because of people's age.

BOFster · 14/02/2015 15:23

I agree about age being no indicator of attitude; I've linked to Gransnet because it's similar to MN but less rude. Apparently.

PrettyFeet · 14/02/2015 15:27

Give it a rest you lot. Just don't post

OP posts:
BOFster · 14/02/2015 15:28

Well, there's always that option.

It's not compulsory to post on mumsnet if you aren't enjoying it.

PrettyFeet · 14/02/2015 15:30

Am i directing the question at you bof.

Funny how all the posters so far are the biggest offenders.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 14/02/2015 15:32

Not sure about Over50s but can we have a MumsnetNice category?

PrettyFeet · 14/02/2015 15:34

Call it anything but a place where the nasty ones are banned.

OP posts:
Marshy · 14/02/2015 15:36

Isn't it enough to deal with being over 50 without having to be nice as well? Grin

BOFster · 14/02/2015 15:37

Would you like to point out where I've been rude to you? Confused

Marshy · 14/02/2015 15:37

Err.....doesn't that already happen pretty ?

Sparklingbrook · 14/02/2015 15:38

I think pick threads to post on wisely, hide topics that attract the unpleasant types, hide the threads that are clearly cobblers and try not to care too much.

PrettyFeet · 14/02/2015 15:40

Yes sparkling, that's probably what I will have to do.

So sick of the passive aggressive posting.

Excuse me?? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 14/02/2015 15:44

Is it ageist to insinuate Over 50s are nicer than under 50s though? Grin That's youngist surely?

Honeydragon · 14/02/2015 15:45

I thinks she's saying your horrible and nasty Soupy. Obviously not me, I got here after Grin

Bunbaker · 14/02/2015 15:47

I am well over 50, but wouldn't want an over 50 topic. I think topics are more relevant aimed at your stage in life or interests rather than age.

I had DD late in life, but would have more in common with a parent 20 years younger than me if they had a DD the same age as my DD, than someone who goes on Saga holidays.

Marshy · 14/02/2015 15:49

I'm fairly certain it is ageist sparkling . You're confusing oldist and youngist those aren't real words

Honey that's pure luck Grin

BIWI · 14/02/2015 15:50

Can you point out how I'm an offender, please?

LadyLupin · 14/02/2015 15:51

You could try here

www.buzz50.com

Chat for over 50s.

TheSolitaryWanderer · 14/02/2015 15:51

For someone who dislikes AIBU, you don't seem to have posted much anywhere else on the site. Try a different topic area.
I'm over 50 and dislike being pigeon-holed and the expectation that I must stay civil and not argumentative as a consequence.
