Over 50's

Hi Ladies

Could we have an "over 50's" category?

I am seriously becoming more and more shocked and upset with AIBU/Chat. The amount of "scoffing" and nastiness on mumsnet is very unpleasant.

OP posts:

Ignore me, I only got to the 10th post and thought that was the end.
My settings have gone all weird.

I'm both confused and arsey.
(I'm under 50 though so it's ok)

QueenTilly · 14/02/2015 17:59

HQ could just make a Gin topic, couldn't they?

There's a Wine topic already, so there's precedent for it.

Clear summat up for me would you

...what does 'rising' 50 mean? does it mean nearly 50, or 50 and up?

Chottie · 14/02/2015 18:05

I'm over 50 and would not be interested in a over 50s area. I prefer the cut and thrust of mainstream MN :)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 14/02/2015 18:09

Gransnet might be more to your taste

SoupDragon · 14/02/2015 18:10

So, the starts a thread wanting somewhere that wasn't unpleasant, is then unpleasant about posters herself and hides the thread without explaining...?

Confused
Dumbledoresgirl · 14/02/2015 18:10

Ha! I've thought the same way as OP before. I was saving up until I reached 50 and could join Saga. Has anyone suggested that yet?

BTW, I'm 50 now, but somehow I still seem to be here. Grin

Marshy · 14/02/2015 18:17

Can someone please check that usual hasn't overheated under her slanket or tripped over her big slipper.

Marshy · 14/02/2015 18:19

Saga = saggy in my head. Doesn't matter how good the deals are, i'm not going there Grin

Dumbledoresgirl · 14/02/2015 18:22

Rising 50 = past your 49th birthday but not yet reached the big 5 oh.

basketofshells · 14/02/2015 18:23

I honestly don't know how old anybody is unless they actively say it, and by the time I see them on another thread I've forgotten again Blush. But I've never noticed niceness or nastiness confined to any particular age group. Surely it's more about life stages, anyway? Some 50 year olds might be grandparents and others might have kids at primary school.

Don't worry mrs , with language like that you won't be let in

Quiero · 14/02/2015 18:38

PrettyFeet you were swimming against the tide on a thread. You couldn't accept that no one agreed with you so you spat your dummy out.

So you're not asking for a topic for people of a certain age. You're asking for a topic where everyone will agree with you Confused

You were the one throwing the insults round from what I read.

AnyFucker · 14/02/2015 18:39

Is this actually a TAAT then ?

SirVixofVixHall · 14/02/2015 18:44

Well I'm 51 but not quite ready for gransnet, my youngest child is only 7, and my eldest 10, so I'm rather far off being a Granny.

Marshy · 14/02/2015 18:46

I'm thinking it probably is AF. Didn't really like to ask the op as she seemed very grumpy

Mrs you're not learning, are you?

FruChristerOla · 14/02/2015 18:49

"Is this actually a TAAT then ?"

; so the OP is actually posting in Site Stuff to ask for a naice topic all to herself? Confused

MrsDV, when I met you briefly last Autumn, I didn't get the impression that you look nearly ready to be shuffled off to the OP's 'nice, over 50s topic' unlike me Grin

Actually, they're quite a feisty lot on Granset too - the OP might get quite a shock if she posts over there!!

BIWI · 14/02/2015 18:50

Well, the vast majority of the OP's posts are in AIBU - one in site stuff (this one), one in relationships and one in chat. And he/she has apparently only been here for a week.

S/he's also had posts deleted for breaking talk guidelines, so I'm not sure he/she is all sweetness and light!

PacificDogwood · 14/02/2015 18:50

Was it Groucho Marx who said he would not want to join a club that would have him? Grin

The man had insight as opposed to the OP

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 14/02/2015 18:52

Yes I like Gransnet. Just thought it may have more people of the age group OP is looking for. What would I know though a mere whippersnapper of 42 Grin

Koalafications · 14/02/2015 18:53

It'll be over 20 years before I'm allowed into nice Mumsnet Sad

Ones that mean I can be a twat until then?
