Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

Asus tablet 10", Android (not sure which version), chrome.

The font size keeps changing. Some posts appear in a large font, others in an itty bitty tiny one. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it. Indeed, a single poster can have examples of both.

Another aesthetic request - sorry ( I know will go to the very bottom of the list).

Could you make it so that the white space either side of the banner ad is transparent? This would give the illusion of more screen space, and looks less weird.

And having looked at that screenshot, could we have it so that clicking the image loads the full size version as opposed to a slightly larger version?

Bug report: Nokia Lumia Windows Phone, 9 months old running windows 8.1.

The glitch is that I get the circle of doom when trying to create a new thread. No such issues when adding a post to an existing thread. Am going to the horrible top arrow and selecting create new thread.

I've just been on the mobile site for a few minutes and it's eaten ten percent of battery in no time at all . What is doing it?

I notice the ads are also picking up content from my other searches in Safari on my mobile - something very very very specific just came up as an ad after I had searched for it a couple of days ago, and there is no way that's a coincidence because it's so unusual. I really really REALLY hate ad content that does that, MN - it's creepy and intrusive! Is it that that's taking up all that battery usage?

The previous site didn't employ creepy live targeted search ads. It was so clean and fast to use and so non-glitchy. Whereas this site - I have no idea how you're going to get it glitch-free: it seems stuffed full of tons of useless bits of stuff that are just waiting to go wrong. Now I have the floating blue bar on some threads but not others, for example. Agh!

Just ventured back onto the mobile site after having escaped to desktop

It's still shit. A third of the page still obscured by ads and bar at the bottom.

Still don't understand why it was changed.

Yep

Far, far too much of the page obscured by ads at the top and HUGE blue bar at the bottom.

And not only that - they both keep on moving up and down all over the page when you scroll!!!!

Bearing in mind how much scrolling is involved here because the viewable window is so small, that moving about everywhere makes it almost impossible to read anything at all!!!

How on earth did this get through testing?????

Adding top/bottom of page shortcut buttons please keep the feedback coming, but you can navigate to the top of the page via the ellipses/three dots menu at the bottom right of each post

Evening again. Above is an updated list of bugs, glitches, general annoyances. Do feel free to send us more detail on any of these - we are passing it all on to The Great Fixers Of Everything. Please note the list here is pretty general, so if your specific 'pictures', for example, concern doesn't appear, please don't think we've missed it off. We've got a more exhaustive list at HQ with all the detail on - to save repeating the entire thread here, this list would just say, for example: 'picture issues'.

Just to add... On windows phone 8.1, Nokia Lumia, In the inbuilt browser

I have no issues with battery depletion or slow loading of pages. It's no slower than it was before for me.

I can't post properly on the app now, it locks up my browser which is a nightmare.

I'm on Chrome for mobile.

And to add my thoughts on items already flagged:

glare from white screen not as bad as it was when first launched, but still needs work. I do most of my mn reading during the endless nighttime feeds, and it is hard on the eyes in a dark room.
Please move the social media buttons. They are perilously close to the previous/next buttons and my accuracy can be severely compromised by a wriggling baby.
Please put the repeat of the op's original post back at the start of each page. It was really useful to be able to check details before replying.

But I don't mind the blue bar at the bottom. Maybe because I have a large screen compared to most mobile devices.

I do have a few questions to HQ. Did you ever imagined this would turn out this way?
Was it done just before a bank holiday weekend on purpose?
On a scale of 1-10 how crazy has the office been?
Will you be able to enjoy your weekend?

I have the starts of threads in TIO now but my site is taking ages to load now and I have lost pages just have continuous thread with no way of getting to the end except pressing 'add post'. Not sure if I will still get double posts.
