Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

Perhaps my wording was not the queen's English ambiguous, but I said "...are busy with lots more, including..." so the TIO changes are not there yet. We are working on those.

If you go onto customise (stupid little arrow thingy at top of page that needs changing) you can choose either 100, 500 or 1000 posts. I think.

I think we can expect delays with some things because it all went so wrong.

I tried 500 posts yesterday but it was painfully slow. Would ideally like 1000, or just 'read all posts' option.

Phone is now charging, to be checked later and I so hope we will all be able to mobile mnet in harmony !

I bet when shamtech was doing their computing degree they never envisioned this scenario!

Shamtech, the circle with the arrow in? For the love of the old site WHY?!

I would appreciate the resinstating of the option to 'show all posts' on an individual thread. I don't want to select 1000 posts per page in customisation as the overall default, but when reading certain threads or in certain situations (eg on a train with intermittent reception) the Show All Posts (on this thread) feature was invaluable.

I didn't even know there was a mobile site ...

I am bereft at the loss of the old site :( I was beyond addicted to MN. But there has been an unexpected benefit. Last night I went offline and picked up this thing called a Book (I remember these devices from way back in the mists of time....) It was so easy to navigate. The "pages" didn't give me a headache. I could flip back and forth between different places with ease. I even employed a small ad-on device which allowed me to "Book-mark" anywhere I liked in the text - and it never stopped working no matter how many times I used it!

Thank you, MN New Mobile Site Debacle, for reacquainting me with the pleasures of this simple "Book" device. I think I will be using it much more often in preference to MN

Given what ChairmanWow has said, I do think an option to change background colour is needed, if you can't break up the pages in another way.

Would also have liked the option to keep the old site the way it was.

OK. So you are working on things. What time would be best to check new site with all changes implemented ?

Or is that very wishful thinking on my part that it will be today ?

I just use the app. Is that the same thing? It looks just the same.

And why the jeffing friff did you release the site when it still had so much wrong with it? This goes beyond 'glitches', more half-finished.

Just wanted to add my voice to those asking begging can we please have the option to use the old site?

Why are mn wasting so much time on fixes etc when the obvious answer is to just pull the plug completely?
And I still need to tap twice to reply - how, exactly,is that an improvement?
And the social media buttons are still - need to get rid of them

Can you still click in usernames to see their profile? And if so how can you check that they have one? They used to be darker or bolder blue iirc

Still can't see how to unwatch threads. It used to be on the I'm watching page where it listed the last few posts for each thread with bump and remove options.

This did need better testing before release. The fact that so many bugs were found so quickly (and I mean proper bugs, not I don't like comments) is pretty damning.

I wonder if writing a short manual for users would also have helped. Firstly to cut down on the "how do I questions" and secondly just the process of writing documentation can find bugs in my experience.

Ladies, maybe we should start a new thread where we can grieve for what was a lovely mobile site and share our fond memories . It looks like they won't give us the option to have it back .

I still can't hide threads even though the option is there...

I'm being ever so thick but I cannot work out how to bookmark. Can someone please talk me through it?
