Hi all,

As you know we have launched the new mobile site, we know it's a big change and we are still very keen to get it right with your help. This is very much a version that will evolve with your help as part of the testing process.

There have been a few glitches that have/are being ironed out and the HUGE thread has nearly maxed out, so we thought it best to start a shiny new one.

We know change is tricky but, as with most things MN, we are all ears and happy to look at any feedback you have on ways we can improve the new site.

Thanks all Thanks

Not sure if there is a new thread somewhere; but posting on this one still via Threads I am on.

On laptop, because I cannot look at the mobile site without feeling ill. It triggered a migraine, and I am still feeling sick, which is a pain in the butt as I need to work; and I am a single parent so I need to also look after DC, rather than lie down in a dark room. I note that you say that the glare will be looked at early next week, and therefore I am going to check back next weekend. I'm on a Nokia Lumia windows phone, if it helps, and no idea which browser, the phone was bought in early 2014.

I know you are working very hard to get these issues resolved, and it must be an uphill struggle, and I am one of many hundreds of thousands of users, so don't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but yes, I am upset by this.

Woo hoo just thought I'd try out the mobile site again and im delighted to see that on TIO now you can see the last few posts. Thanks for listening to that complaint MNHQ.

Back on the mobile site. I don't even know where the fuck I am in this thread.

I'm Watching has a lot of the problems that were on TIO.

You can't see the last few posts. The bump reset remove options have gone, etc

As a lurker (usually) I use this a lot ad I'm not actually on many threads and I don't mark my place.
I also like it because you can easily see if something had happened on a thread and decide whether to click and look.

MultipleMama · 23/08/2014 12:20

theone - I've always been able to click on the title on the old mobile verison to access a thread on my TIO and it would take me to the last post. It's only on this version I have to double click a post to see the thread and it takes me to a specific post. So it's not just cinnamon. Although I'm not too fussed on bookmarks! Grin

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 23/08/2014 11:57

cinnamoncookie, bookmarks are not working currently because of having to click on a post to get into a thread instead of the title - you get taken to that post (it's always worked like that)

Those should both be the same fix I think. It's on the list Smile

Forgot to mention in my post at 00.10 Sat 23rd Aug (upthread) that I don't have the ... on each post in the android browser.

This morning, can't click on thread titles in TIO (although clicking on an individual post seems to work). Also, bookmarks don't work in that where I've bookmarked a thread, it doesn't go straight to that post when I go into the thread. Combined with having everything set at 1000 posts, this is quite annoying.

Hate to be like a squawking parrot repeating this but I am still having trouble of threads where it loads the entire thread instead of pages and yes, it takes me to the very bottom after ages of loading it's not the point and it's not what my settings are set to. It's become a real annoyance and I'm having to stay off the mobile site until it's done due this one main issue .

nickelbabe the flying screen happens to me, except it fucks off to the top when I'm in the middle of typing a post, then it goes all crazy, doesn't load for ages or I end up clicking on the pesky ad at the top trying to scroll back down.

It is beginning to cheese me off something chronic, on the plus side, glitches aside, I am getting used to the new look and appreciate that tech are working through things, I just hope the advert at the top becomes a floaty one like the one at the bottom which happily fucks off out of view when scrolling I don't mind the floaty ads, I am happy with that,

Hi there,

Justing letting you know that we've set up a nice, shiny new thread here so please hop over there once this one is full.

Don't worry, we'll still be looking into the gripes you've raised on this thread and adding anything we can't solve to our rolling list of bugs, glitches and dislikes.

Thanks again for bearing with us Thanks

Report
nickelbabe · 23/08/2014 09:59

ooh, a new one.!
when I've posted, the screen goes back up the thread about 6 or 7 posts up (at least 3 screens' worth) rather than to my own post.

I can't tell the difference between my posts and the op's posts because they're bith very similar in shade and colour (mine is nickel as it should be, but the op's is blue but it's olive on the dedktop. I deliberately chose colours that contrasted) they're too pale I think.
but darker blue wouldn't help because that's mnhq.

also, I'm having the problem of having to tap the post button a couple of times (sometimes 3) before it registers it to post.

and tio - when I click the last post, it's still taking me to a random post yesterday lunchtime and I then have to go all the way down the the bottom to scroll back up.
it's about 2/3 down the posts I think.

via the MN home page which BTW doesn't look good at all -tiny text and no layout to speak of.

This I completely agree with. The main MN site has always been utterly shit on a mobile, now it is very jarring eg when you report a post and get sent to main site - its like visiting a completely different brand.

itsall - you're right! Blush
Although if I move my thumb up it goes. But if I move my thumb down it reappears.
It's possible that might be adding to my headaches as with scrolling in a small space I seem to be doing more back tracking (when I go too far) and then the top 'jiggles' as the address bar disappears/ reappears. Confused

Anyhow I still don't like it and would rather not MN on the mobile site at all now as I'm getting headaches really easily!

Also, following the link from TIO attempts and fails to load entire thread on one page. I cannot use TIO for long threads at all because of this. I had to quit the browser and delete history to get back here -via the MN home page which BTW doesn't look good at all -tiny text and no layout to speak of.

  • I tried to update before but the thread again loaded as the full thread, not as individual pages (I have it set to 25 posts per page in my settings). Page eventually became unresponsive & I had to close the page. I am now posting this from the desktop site as mobile site just isn't working reliably.
  • I like the ... especially now they are bigger.
  • I like the emoticons menu.
  • Some of the photos are now popping out & are much bigger, thankyou! However it's a bit erratic, other photos are still really tiny.

Is there going to be another thread?

When I'm on other websites the address bar at the top disappears as I scroll up the page. It doesn't do that on the new mobile site.

It disappears for me as long as I am not clicked into the posting box.

I've given up and have switched to the desktop version on my phone. It's a pain but at least I can do everything and the whole screen is used.

Can MN tell how many users they've got and have lost from the mobile version? It's no good if we all switch over to desktop, particularly as you don't see the adverts on the desktop version...

I haven't read both of these threads fully, but wanted to say that I really like the new format (after the initial shock wore off). Very 'clean'. I also like how you are working through the snagging so quickly.

Can I add my own request - on this thread the colour to highlight MN posts is nice and strong so it is v clear. On other threads the highlight for OP is a very subtle pale colour. Beautiful, but not v helpful Smile

Oh and I don't understand why my posts (or OPs) on mobile aren't being coloured any more as they are on desktop.
