SP's thread was trolling?

I'm obviously incredibly relieved. But massively disturbed. How did that happen? Is SP ok?

It's one thing to make up a story about your own imaginary child dying, but to impersonate a regular and post that their child has died crosses the line. It is evil.

AlpacaLypse · 24/02/2014 18:53

I've never been so upset by a troll thread as I was by this one. Like a lot of people I 'bought' it unquestioningly. Yes it wasn't very SP-ish, but then one wouldn't expect SP to be her usual jokey self under such circumstances.

The only nice thing about it was how quickly it filled with messages of condolence to SP, iyswim. Shows what a nice bunch we are Smile.

I do hope SP hasn't been too upset herself by this.

And I don't know what can be done about this person who seems to have a monomania for trolling about bereavement, but I hope somehow their obvious MH issues can be flagged to whatever relevant authority there is.

Lottiedoubtie · 24/02/2014 18:54

Fair enough Rowan, I hope when you've had chance for a staff meeting you consider the police as an option though it is such a disgusting thing to do.

NotNoah · 24/02/2014 18:54

I really can't believe someone would have a heart black enough to do this. I was so shocked when I read the OP. I don't know SP but I enjoy her posts and hearing about the 'tude so I was upset. Then the thread was deleted in front of me.

Relieved all is ok but am sickened. A sobering thought for all of us, there are some sick people at the other end of an Internet connection. Hope the police do get involved.

LineRunner · 24/02/2014 18:55

As KoalaFace said upthread, some posters left very personal messages for 'SP' about their own bereavement experiences. I'd like to see MNHQ play hardball with this particular troll - involving the Police seems a proportionate response to me.

JakeBullet · 24/02/2014 18:56

How fucked up do you have to be in order to post a troll thread like that.

I am overjoyed that SP's little boy is still with us but fuming that anyone could troll in such a disgusting way.Angry

Joules68 · 24/02/2014 18:56

Didn't so have to lay low/ name change due to some trouble with RL?

Just wondering why this troll specifically chose her and I'm hoping it's nobody she knows. It's quite sinister how one person gets chosen

I'm glad I missed this, how awful. WTF is wrong with people?
I'm hope SP is ok.

Mamafratelli · 24/02/2014 18:58

Missed the thread but what an awful thing to do. Angry

Northernlurker · 24/02/2014 18:58

Bereavement has been trolled a lot. It's awful.

SerotoninCanEatTomorrow · 24/02/2014 18:58

I wish I 'knew' SP in real life. I so want to give her a hug she must be devastated to have this happen to her name.

I was utterly bereft when I read that thread as I felt so much of a kindred spirit in her xx

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 24/02/2014 18:59

RowanMumsnet it must be right to inform the police. This site and its users can't help this person but the police will be able to.

I want to thank you and the reporter/s again for exposing and deleting this so quickly. I would have had a very disturbed night otherwise, as would many others here Flowers

Lots of love SP and an ocean of relief.

usualsuspect33 · 24/02/2014 19:00

I don't think MNHQ should just sweep this under the carpet.

It needs dealing with.

PoorOldCat · 24/02/2014 19:00

There have been several along similar lines in bereavement - the ones I have seen seem to involve babies (sometimes twins) dying.

Very simple, plainly written OP of just a few lines.

The OP doesn't tend to come back. (on the thread I mean)

I wonder if it is that one - they have been prevalent the last month or two.

I missed the thread but what a disgusting thing to do Confused I hope sp is ok, this "troll" needs dealing with.

PoorOldCat · 24/02/2014 19:02

I still have the thread open in another tab. It only contained one post from the OP - th other 250-odd were people saying how dreadfully sorry they were.

In case that helps. Glad you are Ok x

IamInvisible · 24/02/2014 19:03

Glad you are ok.xxx

LineRunner · 24/02/2014 19:05

desertmum · 24/02/2014 19:07

It struck me as odd when I read it - so glad my instinct was right - and that all is well with you ES.D - what a horrible and sad thing to do. Give the tude a hug

ballsballsballs · 24/02/2014 19:08
