I'm obviously incredibly relieved. But massively disturbed. How did that happen? Is SP ok?

I'm reminded of my favourite line from Game of Thrones:

I am really shocked and disgusted that someone would troll in that way. Glad it wasn't true though.

I think that, maybe, MNHQ needs to make their 'username' options, or filters, more sophisticated. I don't know how, because I'm not techy.

Wasn't there another thread last week when a troll used a similar NN to a long standing MNer, but changed a 1 to an 01? The original MNer was having to fight her corner saying that it wasn't her.

I saw that post and thought there was something that seemed odd about it, no idea who sp is but hope she's okay after being 'impersonated'

Yes, it was absolutely a troll we're afraid (although of course we're also very glad that it wasn't 'true')

It wasn't a name anyone would have recognised, tbh; certainly not a 'big name' poster. Just someone who keeps re-regging to post threads about being bereaved. This is the fifth or sixth time we've banned them. We do all we can to stop returning trolls like this and we're sorry that some of them slip through.

I've been a direct victim of nasty, vicious trolls but not this bad.

Poor SP, I thought the OP didn't sound like her style of writing but then thought it might be because of shock or grief.

Yes, it's a horrible development and we're not aware of them doing this before.

Rowan, there was a bit of speculation on that thread as to who the PBP is. Can you just confirm the speculators were wrong please?

I felt physically sick when I read that message. I feel like a weight has just been lifted.

I am horrified someone would do that though. And its devastating, some people left very personal messages mentioning their own bereavements and offering support. I can only hope it hasn't knocked them too much.
