Thanks for the new thread!

We are deep into the school visits like most of you all seem to be too. Really would be nice if they took place after the results instead!

So far the depressing thing is a lot of comps don't seem bothered much about the children - They're just fodder for their results sausage grinder. They're not selling their schools, the attitude is "you live nearby so you're stuck with us, here's how it's gonna be". Thankfully we know lots of children happy at these schools to counter the experience.

Thank you for the new thread!

Wondering whether headteachers know the results of the Kent Test yet... the boys' headmistress was looking all twinkly when we chatted in the playground this morning, laughed at my obvious jitters and said a very bright "fingers crossed!". It could mean anything and I am driving myself bananas and the only thing bringing a modicum of comfort and calm is chocolate.

September is so LONG.

RussianDoll777 · 23/09/2025 13:33

Is anyone waiting on results from the Slough consortium? The email said results would be available the “week of” 20th October which seems so far away!

Pipsquiggle · 23/09/2025 14:29

Thanks for the new thread.

I wish I could keep my mind off the 11+ but I can't. I think about it a lot and I wish I didn't. My DC will probably be borderline

The Slough exams just happened over this weekend so I am guessing the results will be out after mid October. Some kids who missed the exam will be sitting it mostly early in October. I really wish we would have all the results earlier though.

Same here, I just can’t stop thinking about it. It doesn’t help that we are considering independent options but I really don’t want to go that route and definitely won’t be preparing for it. I am just so done!

I am quite confident that no one knows the results yet. Because children giving the test at a later date for the Kent exam haven’t sat it yet. It’s this weekend.

MamaKiwi · 23/09/2025 14:38

I don’t think so, @Donedonn - children out of catchment sat the Kent Test on the weekend of the 13th, no?

I was talking about the kids who missed the exam because of illness and other reasons. Their exam is scheduled for this weekend.

Someone one asking about Trafford results. Last year they came out at lunchtime on Tues 22nd October. We got an initial email telling us we could log on to the portal to see all the scores and then separate emails from each school with the school result. It's pretty much always the week prior to half term but the day does vary.

Purpletoes · 23/09/2025 15:11

Hi. It is an anxious wait.no date for Bexley result yet. Kent been given the 16th or 17th. And my daughter is sitting her last exam this friday whose result will be just before submission deadline.

Magnificentkitteh · 23/09/2025 15:36

Thanks for the new thread. Am feeling similarly impatient. Really thought we might get some round 1 results today because last year it was Tuesday 24th for HB but I guess not now. At least I'm working today so not spending all day on refresh.

Magnificentkitteh · 23/09/2025 15:38

Open morning tomorrow at St Mary Magdalene. Am thinking of this as a fallback as it's probably behind Latymer in my preferences but in reality it's difficult to get in as well if you're not in catchment. 400ish kids for 18 governors' places.

FlatStanley50 · 23/09/2025 16:01

Went to visit open morning for our local catchment (non-grammar) school today (we are in Bucks). We really liked it, perhaps even more than the girls grammar we've visited. So I'm very reassured that she'll be OK whatever the results. This school is v strong in performing arts which is her thing, so she'd be happy there. It's got a broader curriculum than the grammar (more art/ music), though definitely less academic. The only thing that bothers me is that RS GCSE is compulsory but we can live with that.

Magnificentkitteh · 23/09/2025 16:15

Quite a few schools seem to have that, whether religious schools or not. I suppose since a certain amount of RS is compulsory regardless they figure they might as well take the GCSE. It's meant to be one where people tend to do well too.

AquaPeer · 23/09/2025 16:30

funnily enough at a school visit last week I was thinking GCSE RE looked incredibly interesting! (I’m an atheist)

I thought the results might be out today too. But guess anytime this week now!
I am not even thinking about round 2 - she has done no creative writing and has no experience with writing answers to the comprehension questions. Since the schools we applied to were all mcq exams.

SFV · 23/09/2025 17:06

Glad to have found you all again :)

We just got HBS results... it's a "no" for us. Maybe it's a good sign if you haven't received an email yet. Fingers crossed x

Magnificentkitteh · 23/09/2025 17:19

Bloody hell DD is through to round 2 Henrietta Barnett. Thought that was the long shot one. Very bloody proud of her. That's improved my week!

Schoolhelp23 · 23/09/2025 17:20

HB results are out...

Donedonn · 23/09/2025 17:20

Just got the HBS round 1 results. Daughter got through. Well, we don’t even know how to prepare her now for it.

Magnificentkitteh · 23/09/2025 17:21

Sorry to hear it's a no for you SFV. Good luck with the next ones.

Schoolhelp23 · 23/09/2025 17:21

@Magnificentkitteh Well done!

@SFV Same for us!
