Yes, all applicants scoring above than 205 have been invited for the 2nd stage test which is on 5th Oct

Oh sorry, 5th Oct is for the boys schools. For girls the second stage is this Sat which is 28th Sep. My apologies.

For the ones who have qualified for Second stage, have you received any further comms from either Wallington/NonSuch. The exam is on Saturday and it seems the details for second stage has still not been sent. At least , we haven't received any email other than the initial email which says you have qualified for second stage.

We did too

Yes, we got an email with all the details. I think there might be more than one location. I would call the school urgently and sort it out.

This year the cut off for the girls" schools is 205.

Do you know what the pass mark is usually in total for stage 1 and 2?
Also, do they weight the stage 1 to 2 results - 2:3?

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 27/09/2024 06:49

Not sure if there are any second stage exams in wallington location (it was cheam for girls when I did it) but be aware if you are not from the area that they have just closed one of the main roads for a sinkhole and there are roadworks on one of the diversion routes so traffic will likely be horrendous.

Thanks, tried calling and emailing them but no response. Will keep trying and hope someone will pick up the call.

They should respond hopefully. We did the first stage in Wallington so our second stage is there at 9am. Take your stage 1 pass email when you go.

Hi,

Can someone share the details on how the stage 2 exam was like for girls (once your D writes the exam tomorrow)?

My DS is writing on 5th Oct and any advise would be helpful.

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 27/09/2024 17:42

Are you asking for the details of the exam (cheating?) why would anyone tell you which in theory could drop their dd down a place meaning they don't get in?

New2thisshizzle · 27/09/2024 17:51

I think the poster said son so not sure how that would impact a girls place? And wouldn’t the papers be different but still based around writing a story?

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 27/09/2024 20:09

Oops didn't read it properly - sorry!

May I ask a silly question, how can I know the passing mark of this year? Also is that I can know the mark of my son?

The children who did not pass SET were sent ab email with their score and the cur off score. So the boys cut off score was 212 and for the girls schools it was 205.
Those who passed were not told the score. Similarly, after the 2nd stage test those who will nor pass will get their score and the cut off mark. Those who pass will just be informed that your child has come up to the criteria of so and so school . So the parents will then be able to write the name of that school on CAF. But it will still be a blindfold game as many more students pass pasd as compared to the seats available.
Hope this makes sense.

My dd1 sat this test about 5 years ago I think it was and passed both Stage 1 and Stage 2. We were given her score after Stage 2 in order to have some idea whether she would be offered a place on NOD in March.

Meredusoleil · 29/09/2024 09:11

Just found the email. It was a total standardised score. We were also given the highest and lowest standardised score, so could see where she sat in the cohort who took the exams.

Not sure if the results are still given out like that though?

No, they are not given now.

That’s frustrating as I suppose you can’t guarantee a place?

It was never guaranteed anyway, as you had to make predictions as to where the cut off marks would be based on previous years. Also, it depends where you live, as residents of Sutton Borough have a number of ringfenced places. Also PP I believe. We were OOC (out of catchment) anyway, so would have had to be in the top 85 places.

My son did not pass stage 1 last year (passed for Greenshaw but not the grammar schools), and the outcome email only stated the pass marks for Greenshaw and then for the grammars, but did not say how many children had sat the test.
My daughter passed stage 1 this year and the outcome email said she had qualified to be considered for Greenshaw and then that she would be invited to the second stage of testing. No pass marks or numbers of children sitting.

Seems a bit silly really as clearly people who did not pass will share the pass marks with fellow parents, so there seems no reason not to include them for everyone. It seems like the amount of information they are giving out is getting less!

I heard that this year they will not provide the final standardized scores for the girls after stage 2 and will be similar to how it’s for boys. Is that true?

GT31 · 30/09/2024 09:52

I was told there about 1200 boys sitting stage 2 on Saturday.
