Yes- here you are.

Sutton 281
Wallington 177
Wilson’s 480

Obviously all very different - I don’t understand how the marks work and what they mean? Can anyone provide me with more info please?

what is Strange is my son passed maths with flying colours for Wilson’s but failed for Sutton and WCGS. And failed English for Wilson’s but passed again with flying colours for Sutton and WCGS. I’m so confused

Wilson 558, but not qualified, interesting 😁

HappySnow · 17/10/2024 21:23

177 is correct for Wallington. Hope you have received the emails by now, mine all came between 17:15 and 18:25.

I don't understand why the qualifying scores are so low, even for Wilson 670 boys have qualified...I guess a previous poster was right, if you qualify for Wilson you have a higher chance to get a place in general

Araminta1003 · 17/10/2024 21:59

Surely it depends on how far away you live? We qualified for Wilson’s including music aptitude and there are 180 places? We also qualified for the other 2 but there are 110 places and for Sutton, far less for kids who are not in the local catchment. So it is about chances and how many kids sat the test that are further away and how they rank it. And a lot of the top performers at Wilsons may have also sat other superselective tests, for example. Queen Elizabeth Barnet or even Essex or Kent or Bexley. So we just do not know.

HappySnow · 17/10/2024 22:15

We still haven't received the emails. My son also participated in the music and sports aptitude tests.

Araminta1003 · 17/10/2024 22:25

Wilsons calculates 1:2:2 hence the much higher overall score required. It’s on their website. Candidates also have to pass both English and Maths stage 2. So, in theory, a higher score than overall “pass” could fail if either Maths or English is not passed.

Araminta1003 · 17/10/2024 22:32

“The four standardised scores will be weighted in the ratio 2:2:3:3, an age allowance will be added, and the total rounded to the nearest four marks to give the final score”. That is Sutton grammar, they all explain it in their FAQ on their websites. Hence the difference in overall pass marks. They weight elements of stage 1 and 2 differently. They have differing amounts of places and oversubscription criteria, as well.

For those who are still waiting for WCGS and Wilsons. Check your junk mail mine ended up there

WCGS cane through at 17.29 and Wilsons 18.30 (that's the time for me)

I am still not clear about Wallington's score calculation.
Can anyone who has not passed for Wallington share the breakdown of marks ? Have they mentioned how many students have qualified?
Thanks

We sent an email to WCGS and WSG regarding the SET results, as we only received them from SGS. I checked the junk folder too, but found nothing.

Interestingly, we didn’t receive any email prior to the music and sports aptitude tests, so we had to reach out to the admissions team a day before to find out what time we needed to be there.

Now, I’m wondering if there are others who are still waiting to hear back. It’s super stressful.

HappySnow · 18/10/2024 12:41

We have received all the emails now! 🎉 Unfortunately, he didn't pass Wilson's English by just a couple of points. However, he did perform very well in maths, sports, and music. We are hoping to be offered a place at Wallington! Now, let's keep our fingers crossed for March! Good luck, everyone! x

what is his overall mark?

Twinmum7788 · 18/10/2024 14:59

Congrats to all the boys who have passed. My litte one passed and we have just filled in the CAF form.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how many children (boys) sat the SET 1 exam? I know 1230 sat the second stage though Wallington grammar school letter says a different number..very bizarre.

Such a relief that it's all done and dusted. Wishing everyone a restful half term. The children all deserve it! x

If a child passes the exam, then marks are not provided.
For Wilson his total score was 478

How to find out the score? I am not able to see it in the email. It only mentions pass mark.

Hi
My friend is in the same position. Her son only passed for Wallington. That's why I have been trying to gauge some info about WCGS. But I did not get any reply. If there is anyone who has not passed WCGS then may be they have been told the number of candidates passed or some criteria used for scoring.
Sorry not of much help.

Good morning Wise People!!

Need some suggestion. We are out of catchment for Wallington Girls and Nonsuch. Our DD has qualified for Stage 2. How are people outside catchment deciding without any indication of score?

Good afternoon! I would love to know how many boys qualified for WCGS. This has been our first-choice school from the beginning, and our son can literally walk there. However, we have no idea how many boys are ahead of him for admission.

OnlyTheBravest · 20/10/2024 15:37

@HappySnow The Sutton Grammars have never provided more than an 'you passed email' and it is difficult to tell how close you are to admission, especially this year as the VAT rise could impact the number of children seeking grammar places.

You best bet is to place the schools you want in the highest position on the admissions form and include a back up school that you are happy with and you know that you are eligible for. That way if you do not secure a place at the grammar school on national offers day then you will still secure a place at a school that you deem suitable for your DC.
