Yes, we do.

WCGS was in the top 30 state secondary schools in the country for results this year. ( top 10 in London). It is a rugby school and does amazingly in cricket. It was listed as one of the top 25 schools for cricket in 2024. They also do really well at table tennis. They have lots of other opportunities for the arts ( drama production, music competition, photography and art competition. Just to name a few. )There is a great selection of subjects on offer. They really try to support our children to be well rounded and the pastoral care is amazing. It has a really family feel about it. My son is thriving there.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Edited

Thankyou so much. That is really helpful and reassuring.
We hope it will be a good fit for our DS.

Does anyone have experience with SGS. We didn't attend the open evening and have based our choice solely on the UK ranking. Wilson was our first choice but now we have offer for SGCS and have accepted it.

Is there anyone from wandsworth getting into WCGS ? We are planning to relocate but around Jan 2026. Is the daily commute doable ?

You can walk to hackbridge station from there, also Wallington but that's a little further. So you have the two different train lines into Victoria. So assuming you not far from station at the other end not too bad probably. Hackbridge route is the quicker line.

It's very easy. 12 mins from Balham with the 07:54 getting into Hackbridge at 8:06 (7:42 from Wandsworth Common connects with that train) or a slightly longer journey by direct train to Wallington.

Hi
Thankyou so much. How long is the walk from Hackbridge to the school ? Is it better / shorter/ easier / safer/ than the walk from Wallington station ?

The walk from Hackbridge is a nicer route than the one from Wallington, and shorter. Basically you go through the side of Beddington Park (or you can take the outside route on the road), straight from the station to the school, which is a pretty walk or scoot. Maybe 10 minutes?

I understand lots of the boys walk en masse to and from school via the park, so it's not risky. What I did think, though, was that if he had after-school activities in winter in the dark and would be alone, then I'd have him return via Wallington as he'd be walking through a residential area not a park, even if the train took a little longer to get home.

Ticket-wise, if you get the annual season ticket to Sutton then it's valid on either route and costs the same as one to Hackbridge or Wallington.

I should add my DC isn't actually at WCGS but we very seriously considered it for him (and very much liked the school), so we did trial runs of all the routes to check out how easy they were.

My DS has received an offer from Wallington County Grammar School. This is his first-choice school! We are beyond happy! I hope everyone else received their favorite offers too🤞🏼❤️

Hi
I was thinking let's start another thread for the children starting in Wallington in September. Will be helpful to share ideas and apprehensions.
