Brit School KS4 2024

Hi all,

I thought I'd start a thread for KS4 applications for Brit School as my daughter has her workshop and interview this week and I know we will both be anxiously waiting to here afterwards!

She's applying for Film and Media production strand as is really passionate about working within the film industry..

We have no idea what to expect at the workshop and interview at all!

Hi - my daughter is also on the reserve list for MT. Two of her school friends have been offered places for MT and Music.
She is upset, but onwards! Will think about prospects for sixth form. Thanks for this thread, has been v helpful.

Thanks so much for responding. My DS’ interview was a bit chaotic as they were having IT issues - he had also asked to play a song at the end - they said they probably wouldn’t have time…he ended up playing partially whilst they were trying to sort the IT out - he felt they weren’t listening really or maybe they were, and weren’t impressed!! Whatever, it’s a bit of a heart break for him after a lot of hoping and hard work but there was never going to be a space for everyone. I hope he will continue but he’s going to have to get over it first like lots of the other kids that didn’t get the decision they wanted. Good luck to everyone 😘

🎶hi everyone - if anyone knows any KS4 MUSIC 🎶 people starting this Sept that want to join a parents WhatsApp group then DM me and I can send the link or add them...I just find it useful to keep on top of important dates but understand WhatsApp groups aren't for everyone 😅

No. We didn’t get anything and I did call them last week and she said not to worry! She said if they hadn’t received the forms they would have chased and checked whether the placed was still wanted. Hope that makes sense! So basically if you have not heard anything she reassured me it was ok :-)

I phoned too..we had an issue with his portfolio not being received so I just wanted to be safe. All good in the hood!!

DS did a paid gig at the weekend. Smashed it.
Has booked a music summer course.

oh no that’s very frustrating … I think the reality is maybe this may not happen until much later perhaps? is it worth a call to check?

@AliWhiting Not sure about anyone else but we still haven’t heard anything, but I did read on another chat that applicants on the reserve lists can receive confirmation of a space right up until the day schools starts in August 😬 so it could be a long wait. When would you need to let your new employers know whether your going to take the job?

Hi everyone, hope you’re all having a nice weekend. Just wanted to send a quick message & let you know that I received an email late yesterday afternoon confirming that my DS has been offered a place at the Brits this September 🥳 I only saw the email this morning by chance, 😬 & it wasn’t sent to my DS just to me & my husband.
IDD have advertised that they have a few spaces left for KS4 & Post 16, so they have extended the application date until the 20th May 2024. This might be the reason why he has been offered a place, but either way we’re thrilled as this is all he’s ever wanted✨
Fingers crossed for@AliWhiting & all the others still waiting on the reserves list, I hope you hear something soon.🤞🏽💞

I just wondered if anyone had any idea or if anyone had received a place having been on reserve this year. It seems on previous years that more information was given?

A friend is on reserves for music and was told only 5 of them are on the reserves list. And I think they swap like for like if someone declined eg girl/out of catchment

My DS is out of area and reserve list for music.

When I contacted the school asking for more information about how many people were on the reserve list etc. they said they could not give any info on that. So I'm interested to hear that some people have been told numbers.....

We're continuing with life based on an assumption he won't be going in Sep.

I've booked him onto the Guildhall Jazz and Rock summer school....anyone else's youngling going to that??
