I hope it is indeed the end. Yes the restrictions were needed but things need to go back to normal (well as normal as can be). My oh is looking forward to restaurants being self serve againhe likes to get his moneys worth at the buffet Grin

OnceUponAWhine · 02/08/2021 00:09

Thanks for new thread. Will this be our last needed rail thread until Autumn or winter when who hell knows ?

Lockdownbear · 02/08/2021 00:32

Checking in, my rail is why wait to the end of school holidays before relaxing stuff?

shouldistop · 02/08/2021 08:01

Checking in. I think she did the same last year @Lockdownbear

I actually had a fantastic weekend. We had ds1 5th birthday and it was amazing, the sun shone, kids all had a great time, he got brilliant presents and behaved like an absolute angel all weekend. Total parenting win this weekend.

Lockdownbear · 02/08/2021 08:06

Yes she did, waited until the end of school holidays to relax things, then put Glasgow back into restrictions on the 1st of September. With the rest of the West Central belt a couple of weeks later.

Lockdownbear · 02/08/2021 08:08

Sturgeon's own sister has been confused by the registration. Thought you didn't need a mask once sat down on a train, and Facebooked itConfused

Groovee · 02/08/2021 08:13

Parking my bum over here.

Yes, and also thought she was disabled?
Scottishskifun · 02/08/2021 09:51

We are down in Englandshire early so joyously sadly will miss the lecture announcement today as the Olympics has continual coverage.

Hope nobody breaks a TV by lobbing something at it as I now seem to get the urge to do now everytime NS appears for announcements

ElephantOfRisk · 02/08/2021 10:00

Now the sister is claiming she was eating a sandwich, also not allowed on scotrail, whilst on her way to lunch....

Just not as good a liar as her sister.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 02/08/2021 10:02

I know exactly what you mean @Scottishskifun. I've developed a kind of visceral reaction to NS announcements. I get really properly wound up to the point where my blood pressure rises to listen to her use a million words to say fuck all of substance, which annoys me as it's doing my mental health no good at all. Christ, even thinking about her is getting me riled, I really need to ignore it all. Looking at society generally though I think she's losing the room in a lot of places - the mile long queue for the soft play yesterday inside a shopping centre had no distancing and maybe a quarter of people not wearing masks either, and no-one seemed particularly bothered. She may be able to keep businesses closed, but in terms of people's behaviour, a large chunk of people seem to be doing what they like anyway.

Oh this makes me chuckle! 😂
Scottishskifun · 02/08/2021 10:14

Oh my BP just hit breaking point at reading the SNP/NS view that a hard border with England would benefit Scotland......

I didn't think it was possible for them to be any more dillusional oh how wrong was I!

WouldBeGood · 02/08/2021 10:58

Actually, I’m quite pleased if she’s talking a hard border as it clearly means she’s trying to put people off independence 😃

OP posts:
Scottishskifun · 02/08/2021 11:15

It's definitely aimed at the hardliners and not the fence sitters/moderates! You only have to look at the hell that brexit has caused on Northern Ireland trade food and goods to see how nuts it is!

I just don't get how they can think that a hard border is positive when 3x of Scottish trade is done with England compared to the EU, we are reliant on England for a large proportion of food distribution etc etc

ElephantOfRisk · 02/08/2021 11:31

Surely the best thing against independence is to have people look at the folk on the rallies and ask them if these are the people they want to put their eggs in the basket with?

YeDancer · 02/08/2021 11:58

Still railing about the fact I'm not in Greece this week as planned.
And the Scottish weather forecast for the rest of the week is rain so can't even go a nice day trip here (DH is working today).
Even the lake district has a rain forecast and not really wanting to go much further for a day or two.
Ferries have queues and that plus weather kind of rules out millport.
So really stuck for ideas of things to do.

WouldBeGood · 02/08/2021 12:02

It’s really difficult @YeDancer. We just end up going for a spin and having lunch. Not very inspiring!

Come through here

YeDancer · 02/08/2021 12:12

Need to think of where in the east is good for a fussy easily bored 13yo girl

Brechin Castle Centre? Not sure if that's too far for you. St Andrews aquarium is also OK. There are quite a few outdoor companies which offer paddle boarding scattered along up the coast
YeDancer · 02/08/2021 12:32

She's just said she'd like to spend a day shopping in Glasgow with us and bring a friend along too.
Need to find a nice restaurant to eat as a bit sick of McDs and five guys etc.
Might do the east another day.

Groovee · 02/08/2021 12:33

Head over to Anstruther. Prebook the chippy indoors. Elie beach is huge and Carol's is good for ice cream.

latissimusdorsi · 02/08/2021 14:27
