Is the end nigh?

Well, people who don't want masks to remain are completely not stopping anyone from wearing one if they want, I really don't care what other people do and if being able to swear at people is your only reason to continue - that sounds fine to me Smile

Lidlfix · 03/08/2021 20:38

I know Groovee, my constant FFSs will be visible as will my sneery lip curl at another stupid SLT "initiative". I'm fucked, I've been wearing a mask most of the time at school since whenever Stirling got put in shackles and certainly constantly since April. My filters have wasted away.

ResilienceWanker · 03/08/2021 20:42

@ElephantOfRisk

It's all control, don't get rid of everything and then it's easier just to ramp everything back up again when there is a bit of a resurgence in the Autumn.

Does anyone seriously still think that this makes any sense or is any way useful or stopping anything?

That's the thing. I just don't understand the logic behind keeping the restrictions she is. Had England seen a big rise in cases after the 19th July I could kind of understand it - or had our tier zero slowed down the fall in case numbers or something. But that's not what is happening in real life! Cases seem to be falling across the uk for whatever reason (presumably vaccines/ antibodies) and masks, nightclubs, pre booking your cocktail, going swimming dressed in a onesie, one way systems, perspex screens, having the window open, not being able to see a dentist and everything seem to be having F-All impact. So why not just stop mandating all this theatre, let people be cautious if they want, but allow things to get back to normal in the summer, before respiratory viruses start going a bit haywire again in the autumn/ winter...
WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 20:42

I shout shit the fuck up at the constant Covid drivel on the tannoy in Sainsbury’s

But today I braved Covid mental Morrison’s with, gasp, no mask!

THERE IS NO LOGIC - sorry for the shouting, but trying to apply logic and sense doesn't work and that's why us folk that like stuff to make sense are so frustrated.

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 20:45

Yes, @ElephantOfRisk. If the state curtails someone’s liberty they should do so with laws that make sense and are backed up by convincing evidence.

I saw someone in the chippy with a mask with a clear perspexy bit at the mouth bit. Probably to help with lip reading but I did think that everyone would be able to see her swear Grin

Is Nicola just trying to save us money on lipstick? If I was going shopping, i would normally make a little effort but if I have to wear a mask, I've just not bothered at all.

They should indeed but it seems not in the Scottish branch of Gilead when they can just do what the fuck they want and get away with it.
Lidlfix · 03/08/2021 21:02

I still wear/wore lippy for my trip across the car park, never know who I might see GrinMy masks look like The Turin Shroud (sorry for sacrilege) so no 3day handbag lurkers for me .

ElephantOfRisk · 03/08/2021 21:07

I just don't look at anyone @Lidlfix, as long as i am reasonably clean with nothing hanging out anywhere then I just go out. I have no standards anymore. Pissing myself about your turin shroud though Grin.

Got back to my car at the weekend and lugging the bags into the boot when i realised I still had the fucker on.

WouldBeGood · 03/08/2021 21:10

I use the lipstick marks to see which way round it should be 🤷🏻‍♀️

I remember that from the time the conversation jumped rapidly from masks to knickers Wouldbe Grin.

Groovee · 03/08/2021 21:55

I really didn't think things through for my dad's funeral. Make up, cloth mask and tears. But they are cosy in winter when you work outside 😂

Look at those vaccination figures for East Dunbartonshire. Surely to goodness we can have a bit more freedom than wee Nikki wants to give us.

WouldBeGood · 04/08/2021 09:10

Swinney been on radio saying they’re thinking about the nightclub masks (!) and I think saying no standing up drinking, or at the bar. So that’ll be a lot of pubs done for.

OP posts:
riverrunning · 04/08/2021 09:39

honestly, you wish they'd take a day off from coming up with these nonsenses. No standing at the bar! Have a day off John!

I'm surprised a pub owner hasn't gone vigilante and dumped a pile of manure outside a govt office yet.

Sorry, woken up crabby and tired :)

NotSoLongGoodbye · 04/08/2021 10:55

Endured shopping for school shoes yesterday. Horrific experience. Everyone shopping in store sat behind perspex screens wearing masks and shouting at the staff because no one could hear a damn thing because of the screens / masks / shouting. Completely counterproductive.

NotSoLongGoodbye · 04/08/2021 10:56

Am enjoying the tizz the SG has got itself into over nightclubs. Surely someone has pointed out at some point that nightclubs need to be open without restrictions or not at all. One of the venues were mitigations were never going to work.

Lockdownbear · 04/08/2021 10:56

Why doesn't Queen Nic wear a big muzzle when on her podium letting her belly rumble ?

In fact if she's so keen she should have in permanently fitted.

They can't force it if they are removing the legislation thankfully! From what DH was saying many aspects are coming out of law and into guidance which gives businesses the choice if they read it properly but unenforceable obviously final hasn't been produced yet!
WouldBeGood · 04/08/2021 12:10

But are they removing legislation? I thought Swinnry was saying the opposite: that masks would legally be required, but maybe not in practice?

Also, businesses may be curtailed by their insurance and licensing concerns, if they operate outwith SG guidance.

Not mask legislation but that's included in a separate part to the businesses legal covid obligations of table service/social distancing etc. It's for police to enforce people to wear masks not businesses.

Unfortunately like any announcements just have to wait and see what they do change will keep you guys updated as DH will soon know (as he has to do business enforcement!)

Callisto1 · 04/08/2021 12:56

Haven't had a good rail in a while, but it's always good to come here to get a short summary of the newest restrictions!

The school guidance will probably result is more self isolation and testing. Joyfully the school has merged our classes into super massive ones giving us better odds in the Covid lottery Grin. Onwards and upwards!

mibbelucieachwell · 04/08/2021 14:01

There's going to be a huge demand for PCR tests. How on earth long will it take to get the results back once the back to school colds start.

JL was asked on radio Scotland this morning about the issue of recent covid cases possibly returning positive PCR tests causing difficulties for travellers (and others). Big Jas had no sympathy. Confirmed that there were no exemptions and asked the woman to consider whether she should really be going to Greece in September.

I wish they'd allow good quality questions, 'Mr Leitch, it's now known that reinfection with SARS Cov 2 within 6 months is rare. Other European countries allow exemptions from testing for confirmed infections within 6 months. Why aren't the UK govs doing this?'

It's as if their researchers are told to weed out people who seem to be informed.

And the number of times he says how he understands and he would also like to be going on holiday blah blah. Mate, nobody cares. He seems to think he's a much loved sleb. Grin
