aw, I was hoping for Yes Tier I Can Boogie (While Still Maintaining Baseline Public Health Measures).

latissimusdorsi · 22/06/2021 15:54

Thanks @dancemom

dancemom · 22/06/2021 15:56

Sorry @GoldenOmber I was under pressure with 2 messages remaining.... feel free to make a new thread

No it’s not a criticism! Thank you for the new thread dancemom

ResilienceWanker · 22/06/2021 15:57

Ha! Thanks dancemom! Placemarking, while I go to collect the Child (fully masked, even though outside... I'm not a footballer or anything you know...)

GoldenOmber · 22/06/2021 16:11

I see Patrick Harvie asked about lateral flow testing replacing isolation for close contacts and then went off on one about how it would guarantee nasty new variants everywhere.

Really can’t tell any more if I’m fed up with the Greens because the pandemic has made me grumpy with everything or whether they just are being a bit useless around this. What’s your actual plan then, Patrick? Whole school classes home isolating next year too?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 22/06/2021 16:13

Just marking my place. What a fucking shit show.

tigger1001 · 22/06/2021 16:19

Scunnered just about covers it.

titsintiers · 22/06/2021 16:22

Patrick Harvie is an absolute walloper.

itsjustlowhangingfruit · 22/06/2021 16:22

I work in higher education.

I still have no idea how a return to work will look come September.

Will all students (and staff) be able to return?

Will we all have masks?

Will DD have to wear masks in August in school?

My FTC ends in November. I don't see a point in returning before then to be honest.

Me too, looks like there'll be plenty more of these threads
HadEnoughOfBears · 22/06/2021 16:35

Surely this will be the last thread this time!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 22/06/2021 16:38

Our P7 class isolating due to a positive case.

They'll all be missing their class trip tomorrow.

Fuck sake Sad

titsintiers · 22/06/2021 16:40

That's pants @SoMuchForSummerLove

RaspberryCoulis · 22/06/2021 16:42

I have my second jag tonight. DH has his on Friday.

On the one hand I'm delighted that she's dropped the nonsense about zero covid. Her mate Devi must be gutted. And is now talking in much more reasonable terms about living with it.

On the other, I am not delighted in the slightest that she's still banging on about children wearing masks in schools. All the faux "I know how hard it is" bollocks when all she does is wear her wee tartan mask to walk along the corridor and takes it off as soon as she sits down.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 22/06/2021 16:42

It is. I feel like it's everywhere now, in the school, in my workplace. It's fucking depressing. Things felt much more hopeful about a month ago! Can't understand why we're SO much worse than everywhere else in the UK.

Aw no! What a shame 😢

Because we have lower general immunity to start with due to "successful elimination" last year. Which means that there are more people available to infect
SoMuchForSummerLove · 22/06/2021 16:52

Well now there's something to look forward to then @Scottishskifun Grin

florafoxtrot · 22/06/2021 17:19

Surely better to be higher numbers of infection now when more people are vaccinated and less likelihood of serious illness or death, because is that now what "living with Covid" means? We need to be prepared that we are going to get Covid but just hope that we aren't badly affected? Does still give me quite a lot of the fear but know many disagree.

LOVE the new thread name @dancemom. Scunnered might be one of my top ten words.

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2021 17:20

Thanks @dancemom, nicely summed up, I think!

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2021 17:20

Thanks @ResilienceWanker. They can shove any guidance up their SNP sporrans.

WouldBeGood · 22/06/2021 17:22

Oh no, @SoMuchForSummerLove 🥲

And yes, I was just thinking about us being worse than the rest.

I thank Devi and NS and the zero Covid pish. And a desire to be Jacinda 😂

Scottishskifun · 22/06/2021 17:27

Haha well I've already had it so currently have a high immunity level coupled with a dose of vaccine.

@RaspberryCoulis couldn't agree more that it's good they have backtracked changed stance on elimination/max suppression strategy and actually listening to the wider scientific community not just devi who said it wasn't possible like many on this forum also stated at the time!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 22/06/2021 17:39

Well - the thing is, it's possible now to not aim for mass suppression, whereas it really wasn't while so much of the older population was still unvaccinated. Of course the strategy changes in response to the changing situation. I don't really see it as backtracking, more just evolving in the face of changing data.
