I’m well up for that @titsintiers. In a Father Ted sort of way

Seriously though, why are we testing and isolating all these kids when the vulnerable are vaccinated? It makes no bloody sense.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 17:51

Watch me get lairy… or at least quite cross

titsintiers · 23/06/2021 18:15

I'm already cross and lairy

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 18:48

The daily mail website has the headline:

Massive testing drive in Scotland to blame for UK hitting another four month infection high Confused

It's not like we infected people. We just found them! And less than a quarter were 'ours'.

Nice!

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 18:56

No. It’s not necessary to test all these people! It’s just ludicrous

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 18:57

It does not matter how many people test positive.

Pootle40 · 23/06/2021 19:14

@ElephantOfRisk

Do the same graph but per 100k and it's even more obvious *@Pootle40*
Good to know thanks 👍🏻

@Helensburghmiddleagedmum

Has anyone heard of people testing positive after 2 doses of az vaccine. Guy at my husband's work is really ill with covid in his 50s had 2 doses, coughing til he vomits, weak and exhausted, can barely get out of bed to go to the toilet, I wondered how common this is, have heard of a few people who have got covid despite being vaccinated
DD's school friends mum has been double jagged - she's a care worker so got vaccinated ages ago. She caught covid about three weeks ago now, but had no symptoms at all, felt fine throughout apparently
ClosedAuraOpenMind · 23/06/2021 19:22

and definitely feeling the anxiety re school finishing up as we're going up north for a few days
We were due to go away three weeks ago for a long weekend, but DD had to isolate after her school pals family got covid ....sigh

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 19:24

Not really! We know there's a lag between cases and hospitalisations then deaths (although obviously a weakened link) so if we don't know where cases are occurring how can we plan accordingly?!

I know you don't like the fact that testing is still going on, but that doesn't mean it serves no purpose.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 19:33

It’s not just me @SoMuchForSummerLove. Lots of very sensible people agree. Doctors amongst them.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 19:34

Just because you don’t agree, doesn’t mean it’s not pointless 🤷🏻‍♀️

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 19:42

And lots of other people don't! Just like everything else in this shitshow there's a debate.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 19:42

Yeah. But I’m right

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 19:43

*that was a joke

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 19:43

GrinGrinGrin

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 19:44

😃

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 19:48

You've got to laugh! Although I don't know why, this year has been fucking brilliant regardless 😂

Coquohvan · 23/06/2021 19:50

Vaccines are making a vast improvement on cases not turning into hospitalisations then ICU. There is little breakthrough, whilst sad some do get ill and sadly pass, the vast majority of cases aren’t serious due to age of people being infected, hospital stays lessoned and new therapeutics helping before ICU is required.
Big difference from Jan/Feb this year with high cases high hospital/ICU admission to now with high cases very few hospital/ICU in comparison.

We’ve been encouraged by our local health authority- via an email- to go along to a drop in testing centre, even without symptoms. Why would we do this? I sure won’t be.

Who’s to say we don’t all walk round with a virus which we write off as hayfever symptoms, every year? Summer colds as such. No symptoms? Simple, you don’t have hayfever/a summer cold. Why would you go for a test?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 20:35

We've all been asked to test each day at work this week as we've had four people test positive. I have no issue with it, I want to know if I have it so I don't pass it on.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 20:36

They will test me over my cold dead Covid ridden body 😂

rookiemere · 23/06/2021 20:37

We got a letter from the Office of national statistics offering to pay each member of the household to get tested monthly- £50 in vouchers for the first month and £25 thereafter. It was tempting, although crucially they didn't say what the vouchers were for - M&S and I probably would have gone for it.

But ultimately we price our personal freedom more highly than £25 a month.
