Wow, I think that number of cases is a Scottish record, higher than the January peak. Lots of football mixing I assume? I read something this morning indicating lots of young men are testing positive after football related house parties etc. And yet hospitalisations and deaths remain low (I think they may have dropped slightly), which is very encouraging.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 14:08

One less in hospital than yesterday, let's take it Grin

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 14:22

There was record testing.

Stop the testing!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 14:31

It's too soon for that @WouldBeGood

Four people in my work this week have caught it (so far) two of them over 40 and two under. They're all feeling pretty ill, and I don't think any of them are double vaccinated.

It would be negligent to not protect people who aren't double vaccinated yet.

Icannever · 23/06/2021 14:32

Not liking these numbers 😕. Half my sons class is isolating this week, due to close contact at sports club at the weekend. They were in school on Monday though so if anyone tests positive in the next couple of days he’ll be in self isolation as well. Please let us make it to the holidays. It’s seems worse having got this close 😬

Icannever · 23/06/2021 14:33

I know numbers in hospitals are all good and everything, it’s just there’s so much more chance of being in close contact and having to isolate now. My sons classmates that were in contact now all have their holiday plans ruined ☹️

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 14:35

I actually can't believe we've made it through the whole education year without having to self-isolate, but I'll be fairly surprised if we make it to the weekend now really.

rookiemere · 23/06/2021 14:41

Wasn't there some lag from yesterday and the weekend that meant numbers would be higher ? Still not great though and I can understand nervousness around more relaxation until that works through and we know there's no significant increased hospitalisations or deaths.

Fingers crossed our Lake District trip is on. No notification from the school and we're keeping him off today and tomorrow just to be on the safe side. I'm sure I'll be happy when we get there but feels very precarious at the minute.

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 14:41

Wishing you all luck in avoiding the call of doom.

Pootle40 · 23/06/2021 14:59

Last day of school tomorrow! In other news lots of over 40s in Fife been called for 2nd jabs. Mine 9 weeks after first. The more we get into the 25-44 age group the cases will fall and even if they don't it won't matter!

pawsbaws · 23/06/2021 15:14

Something else concerning which I can see in the vaccination data, yet doesn't seem to be reported in the media yet, is that first dose take-up in the 30-39 age group appears to have ground to a halt at around 76%. In Glasgow that's even lower at 67% and looking like it might reach 68% in a week or too. God only knows what this will mean, I guess we'll have to wait for these unvaccinated 1 in 4 to reach herd immunity, but of course we'll be held in more restrictions on their behalf too whilst we wait...

Scottishskifun · 23/06/2021 15:25

See personally I would wait the 3-5 days from exposure and test if negative still go as tbh if its a good enough strategy for bloody footballers and is acceptable then why isn't it for the rest of the population?!

The vast majority of cases come up within that time period!

If DS nursery gets a close contact isolation call again then other than his nursery bubble being shut there is no fecking way I'm staying in the house for 10 days when he had covid 3 months ago so still has a very high antibody protection!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 23/06/2021 15:25

That's good re Fife @Pootle40

DH will be 8 weeks post-first vac on Saturday and I keep checking to see if he has a second appointment generated online, but nothing yet!

Pootle40 · 23/06/2021 15:27

I am taking huge comfort in this chart (on the right) every day. Vaccines are the answer.

ElephantOfRisk · 23/06/2021 15:35

Do the same graph but per 100k and it's even more obvious @Pootle40

mibbelucieachwell · 23/06/2021 15:38

I really feel for all the posters with dc having to isolate. I think I would continue with my plans after a few days too.

My latest rail is trivial compared to missing holidays/seeing loved ones etc. I've invited my youngest music pupils for a mini end of term get together in my garden tomorrow. 50% chance of rain. No cover in my garden and I'm not prepared to have them inside in case one of them tests positive and I become a close contact. I'd really like to end the term with something fun for them, especially as they did so well with online lessons and and the faff of socially distanced lessons for so bloody long. They've been wee stars. Totally kept me going seeing their cheery faces on my iPad during lockdown. Almost all uncomplainingly.

I hope the older people appreciate it. I used to make vague mmmm noises when people complained about others breaking the rules but now I tell em.

latissimusdorsi · 23/06/2021 15:45

I predict a big fall in case numbers when schools finish!

@mibbelucieachwell do you know anyone you could borrow pop up gazebo from?

Scottishskifun · 23/06/2021 17:13

I predict a big fall in cases when the euros finish......

WouldBeGood · 23/06/2021 17:14

I predict a big fall when people stop bloody testing!!

titsintiers · 23/06/2021 17:48

I predict a riot
