New thread, couldn't think of a title 🙈

It's irrelevant as to whether venues are sticking to it or not. ASsfar as Scotgov are concerned, they think it's okay not to allow any guests to dance and to sit at their tables as much as possible etc etc.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:33

@forfucksakenett not really gotcha - I can no longer wear a mask due to breathlessness issues. I have no problem with people doing so I have a problem with it being stated in law.

Your personal circumstances are sad but not really relevant. It's not about you. It was made law because people wouldn't follow the advice otherwise. Especially not with the Lawrence Fox and JHB types spouting about freedom and what not. I'm sure you know the type. Masks only work if the vast majority wear them. I'm sure you know this. Chris Whitty and Tim Spector both have spoke eloquently and clearly on the matter throughout.

The wedding comment was because you stated that cases were coming down with people going to pubs and attending weddings. I was pointed out that actually what a wedding is currently (if the venue is sticking with the guidelines) is very different to what most people would think of at a wedding.

Whether there is dancing or not there have still been weddings of between 50 and 200 folk in recent weeks eating a meal and socialising together unmasked in often poorly ventilated spaces. I still think that counts as socialising whether there is dancing or not.

That wedding guidance is the sort of thing we’re going to look back on one day as utterly, utterly bonkers.

Definitely.
Scottishskifun · 29/07/2021 19:37

@forfucksakenett I suggest that you check out the wedding guidelines unless eating or drinking then no masks are still worn in the reception.
It's also bonkers that private property outdoor weddings are limited to 15 people of which the registrar can cancel the whole thing if people breach.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 19:38

It's all utterly bonkers and makes no sense. Was on a train yesterday with my Dsis and both our DSs, sat together at a table wearing masks, then went for lunch together with no masks.

Everything falling everywhere and yet businesses are suffering because of the pingdemic where perfectly healthy people are having to isolate.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:38

I'm aware of the guidelines. Have you been to a wedding ? If you aren't dancing then you are eating or drinking.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:39

Or I am anyway. Wouldn't like to generalise too much.

😂 Yes I've been to many weddings can't say I eat or drink for the entire 8-10 hours though!
WouldBeGood · 29/07/2021 19:40

Everyone will look back and think this whole thing has been bonkers.

And Devi will be banished to the gulags.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:41

@Scottishskifun but presumably you are sitting with a drink in front of you. Nobody I now is masking up between sips.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 19:41

So you constantly shove food or drink into your mouth at a wedding?

Even if i'm not dancing, i'm usually chatting to people, circulating, chatting to more people etc. A wedding is a social affair where you tend to catch up with people you've not seen. Not sit a table with your mask on when you manage to restrain your appetite for a few minutes.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 19:43

So basically what you are saying is that it's fine to not adhere to the rules? No wonder you don't find them a problem then.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:45

No I adhere to the rules. If I'm sitting having a drink I'm not wearing a mask.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:47

And on the rare occasions I've been out that's what everyone else has been doing too. Didn't realise you were putting on your mask between forkfuls. No wonder you're all so grumpy 🤣

GoldenOmber · 29/07/2021 19:48

It’s a pity there won’t be any more daily briefings before next week as I’d really like one of the journos to ask some questions about the wedding rules.

Can we have a ceilidh
Can we have a ceilidh if the band promises to be really quiet
Can we do Dashing White Sergeant if we only do the threes bit with people in our immediate household and sanitise hands every time we join up with another one
Can we do Strip the Willow if we all do it at walking pace with masks on
Can I tell my dad that we don’t cross hands in Auld Lang Syne until the end because it’s a covid risk, he keeps doing it wrong and it’s really annoying.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 19:54

Well no, if I'm sitting having a meal then I don't wear my mask but I don't drink constantly so if on the train, even if I have a bottle of water then i take a sip and put the mask back on. Supposed to be protecting the vulnerable, but it's a bit off to start moaning at folk railing against the restrictions when you are putting your own spin on them and then saying they are fine.

Scottishskifun · 29/07/2021 19:54

No I don't mask up between sips but neither do I order drink after drink (via table service if the venue is following the rules) so would sit there for a while without a drink yes.

The fact remains this isn't normal, wedding guidelines cause so much stress on couples many having their day rearranged multiple times and people in their photos and wedding albums wearing masks.

Flio side we have a English wedding as well in a few weeks and we will be allowed to socialise, dance (OK I won't but DS loves to boggey at 2) and for it to be NORMAL

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 19:59

I'm pretty sure that Scottish weddings in a few weeks will be a similar experience.

A sip of water on a train is different to sitting having a cocktail at a bar.

Who knows that's depends on NS doesn't it as we are all in the dark still and no idea if outdoor numbers are changing from 15 for private property ceremonies. Also still likely to require masks inside at the ceremony as it's law here..... 🙄

Guidance for after the 9th for indoor licenced wedding venues indicates no social distancing but for private property outdoor ceremonies still refers to 15 and she has changed her mind on what was said previously (we should have been at no outdoor limits on numbers in mid July by now).

To me guests wearing a mask at a wedding is not normal.

ElephantOfRisk · 29/07/2021 20:09

But the guidelines are different for bars and restaurants are they not?

And just to add, still no alcohol on trains I was reminded of regularly by the tannoy? That's not coming back again ever is it? I don't actually drink much, but on a long trip on holiday, it's nice to have a glass of wine or something. I don't feel the need on a random trip into the city though.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 20:12

@ElephantOfRisk yes and I was talking about being out. Weddings, bars etc.

Nobody in these places are masking up between sips unlike people on buses and trains and workplaces who are.

forfucksakenett · 29/07/2021 20:14

@Scottishskifun you seem absolutely unwilling to accept that at some point these restrictions in Scotland will end. Including the law about masks.

What on earth will you moan about then?

Amen. Just had to comment on another post about people testing over every single twinge. Hyper awareness of not feeling well. Probably your imagination after a while.......there is mass hysteria on MN ....still.
