Why would he be wearing his 'sexy' underwear to work?

I've NC for this as it's embarrassing.
So my partner works nights in a manual labour job and always has done. Tonight before he left he bent down to give our DD a kiss goodnight and I noticed he was wearing certain underwear.
He only ever wears that underwear when sex is on the cards. He bought it entirely for my benefit or so I thought. It doesn't do much for me to be honest as I'm not particularly into extravagant pants but there we go.
They're not 'everyday' boxers and definitely not the sort of thing you'd want on display to your colleagues which would definitely be the case as there's alot of bending and lifting in his job. Think moving boxes etc.
It took me by surprise so I asked him why he was wearing his "sexy" underwear to work. He said "I'm not" to which I replied that I'd just seen them.
He was tripping over himself to explain how its because they're comfortable and airy. He sweats alot at work and gets hot. He then went on to say that he had put a towel in his bag aswell to use to wipe his head and face when he gets too hot.
Based on my OP alone would you find it suspicious?
Excuses5000 · 04/08/2022 22:17
He's also just text me asking if I need him to pick up baby milk or nappies from work which he never does. He knows I'm suspicious and is sounding me out I think.
rookiemere · 04/08/2022 22:17
Yes
AnxietyForever · 04/08/2022 22:18
Yep, sounds suspicious
SunshineLoving · 04/08/2022 22:18
Definitely suspicious. Suspicious that he's lying about it.
Maybe he is planning on cheating on you or trying to.
It could be innocent though. Maybe he wanted to wear them to feel sexy, as a confidence boost and was embarrassed when you realised.
You don't know whether it's innocent or not but the lying is worrying. Definitely look out for any other strange behaviour.
endlesslystandingonlego · 04/08/2022 22:18
Unless it's laundry day and he has no other available pants.... yes.
DrinkFeckArseBrick · 04/08/2022 22:18
The wearing those underwear on its own, no. Sometimes I wear nice underwear when I'm getting dressed up, it just makes me feel more put together.
But the lying about it, then over-explaining is definitely very suspicious
wheresmymojo · 04/08/2022 22:18
Sorry but yes. This would definitely be make me a bit suspicious and I'm not a paranoid person
Amipreg1 · 04/08/2022 22:19
It sounds like he's up to no good unfortunately.
Have you noticed anything else suspicious?
yonce · 04/08/2022 22:19
Jesus, I just want to know what's classed as "sexy boxers" 🤔 are they crotch-less? Red lace? Do they have suspenders attached?!
Also, yes he's being a bit off with the denial of wearing them, then the explaining of a random spare towel. Tbh I'd just be a bit suspicious and keep an eye out for a while.
Aquamarine1029 · 04/08/2022 22:21
Suspicious as fuck and he's panicking that you caught him out.
I doubt he went to work tonight.
butterflyflutterby123 · 04/08/2022 22:21
Suspicious. More the fact he's stumbling to lie, cover up and preemptively placate than the fa t he's wearing it. Have a conversation
decayingmatter · 04/08/2022 22:21
If all his others were in the wash, fine. But they aren't, and his stuttering and work phone call have solidified it.
Itstimetoquit · 04/08/2022 22:21
Yes definitely suspicious
ExplodingCarrots · 04/08/2022 22:21
Have you posted about him and his pants before ? I remember a poster saying her partner had 'sexy' pants and they were these mesh / lace style boxers . This OP was quite put off them though .
In this situation I'd be suspicious too. His reaction was enough.
butterflyflutterby123 · 04/08/2022 22:22
@yonce I also am curious 🤣 y fronts with: I ❤️ u?
Johnnysgirl · 04/08/2022 22:23
Yuck at him having sex pants in the first place...
Divebar2021 · 04/08/2022 22:25
Presumably he doesn’t have a work number you can call on to check he’s there?
Excuses5000 · 04/08/2022 22:25
I agree with the above that the over explaining and stumbling to come up with am elaborate story makes him look guilty of something.
Then the text shortly after he left. It stinks of testing the waters to see if I bought his version of events.
He has plenty of clean underwear so its definitely not a case of wearing them as thats all he had clean.
Mentioning a towel in his bag.. I'm now wondering if he panicked and thought I would want to look in his bag.
BigFatLiar · 04/08/2022 22:27
Sexy underwear! That's odd in itself
Excuses5000 · 04/08/2022 22:28
He has just text me again saying "what's wrong"
Bare in mind I didn't reply to his first text.
Fucking rumbled.
thefishgame · 04/08/2022 22:29
Please tell us what the sexy underwear is. I didn't know this was a thing for men??
Yes, definitely suspicious.
Excuses5000 · 04/08/2022 22:30
He works a night shift in a warehouse / at the back of a supermarket.
I'm pretty sure the only number available online sends you to an automated switchboard and not this store in particular so I can't call and check if he's there or not.
vodkaredbullgirl · 04/08/2022 22:32
Can men's underwear ever look sexy 😕
Mamette · 04/08/2022 22:32
He’s definitely protesting too much and the towel thing would make me suspicious too.
But as pps said, we need to know what these pants look like.

I think it's another term for clean.
