Hired a Private Detective

teddypicker · 26/02/2022 16:38

I just spent about 45 minutes composing a thread about my recent experience and it disappeared when I tried to post it Shock. Thought I'd ask if anyone would be interested in reading an EXTREMELY long post about my adventures before I wrote it all out again? (I do need advice as I'm all over the place about it).
BUT it was very long to avoid the dreaded drip feed.

So, thoughts?

Sounds like a really silly detective novel.

Lyonic · 26/02/2022 22:33

Just slide an apple airtag down his rear carseat.

What are you guys all over 50? XD

User8721643839 · 26/02/2022 22:36

@teddypicker

Ok, thanks both - I'll write it out again. Bear with me, might take a while Smile
WrIte it in Word first then copy and paste it into Mumsnet before you get timed out
MRS54321 · 26/02/2022 22:40

Maybe he’s living with his parents or in an embarrassing flat share ?
But either way- he sounds flakey AF and I couldn’t be dealing with that.
Do agree that PI should’ve been able to tell you something more substantial
And I don’t blame you for not wanting to waste anymore time and doing this- I’ll bet loads of woman would have loved to have known wtf they were signing up for ,before they wasted more time.

ivykaty44 · 26/02/2022 22:47

you've come to a conclusion that they haven't used facebook after 2019

thats how it can appear if you aren't friends with that person on facebook - not that they aren't still using it

its a fineable offence not to be on the electoral register but there are two lists, one searchable digitally and another you have to physically go to the council offices and search - but....its done by address not name

seems as if your pd has taken your money but not done a fat lot

ThreeRingCircus · 26/02/2022 22:48

I hope you find answers OP but the problem is you've blocked him now so may well never know!

Hoplesscynic · 26/02/2022 22:48

@debwong

Google 'Private Detectives', they can do most things online because they know where to look.

So you didn't even get to explain your femme fatale drama in his darkened office while he smoked in silhouette at the window?

Discwriter · 26/02/2022 23:00

It sounds like you didn't hire a very good PD OP! It sounds like I could have found this intel for you on a Saturday night after a few g&ts!

Cherryblossoms85 · 26/02/2022 23:05

I feel really sad for you somehow. There's so much hope tied up in new relationships after shitty ones. Must be awful to be let down again. I think you did the right thing.

kittensinthekitchen · 26/02/2022 23:16

Where does your 8 year relationship from last june fit in?

TabithaHazel · 26/02/2022 23:35

Has he even given you his real name?

ChickenStripper · 26/02/2022 23:50

Do you not have any concrete knowledge of this man - work, car reg that the PI can use to follow him if you are interested?

Murdoch1949 · 27/02/2022 00:00

You're wary of him, go with your instincts. If he's an okay guy he'll find a way to prove it to you. If he just disappears, that's your answer.

Changeee15467 · 27/02/2022 00:01

Why are PP being horrible to OP? This is a brilliant thread. OP if I was you I would get the PD to follow up - don’t you want to KNOW for sure?

Tallisimo · 27/02/2022 00:04

I don’t get it. Why go to all this trouble? Why not just dump the guy?! So much easier and a hell of a lot cheaper.

TheBigPeach · 27/02/2022 00:06

I think after going to that trouble and spending money on the pd, i would have to go check out this house and have a look in the windows or something 😂 curiosity would get the better of me

Journeynotdestination · 27/02/2022 00:06

So in this thread last June, you have been with your partner for 8 years

But now you have a new partner you’ve been with for a year?

C’mon OP. You are a fantasist.

Is that the same poster? That's Teddypicker with a capital T, this is a small t
Teenagehorrorbag · 27/02/2022 00:41

@bongobingo43

His whole behaviour sounds suss and I'd bet money on him having someone else....

Although I don't think the fact his ex lives in a 4 bed house means she's not single. I lm still in a 4 bed house I bought with my ex and can afford it in my own right

Before I got married I bought my dream home, on my own (back in the days when single people could....). I upgraded from a two bed terraced to a 4 bed semi with a huge garden and in a perfect location. It was old and had a downstairs bathroom and was a bit wonky, but I loved it. Sadly it didn't suit DH who likes garages and off-road parking so I sold it when we got together, but absolutely, single women can have 4 bed houses!

I had my bedroom, a study, a guest room and a laundry room. Bliss....

Sorry - not the point of the thread! Fair play for hiring a PD, sorry you didn't get anything more conclusive.

Bluemoonpinksky · 27/02/2022 00:42

Ask the PD for a refund, you got hardly any info!

Mrstwiddle · 27/02/2022 00:51

@debwong that made me laugh!

TheHoptimist · 27/02/2022 01:03

So by professional lady you mean prostitute?

LibbyL92 · 27/02/2022 01:06

I’d like to know how much you paid??

MMBaranova · 27/02/2022 01:12

I hope the PD didn't cost much more than a few credits on 192.com plus some triangulating web searching.
