Bizarre Evening!

Hi all,

I'm feeling a bit baffled and wanted to sound off to someone about this!

I have been dating someone, very new, saw him last yesterday.

I was on my way to his this evening, asked and confirmed by him and I told him when I set off. Called when I arrived and he said he'd nipped to the shop and would be a few minutes. Normal phone call, everything fine. So I wait... and wait... and check my phone and he has blocked me from WhatsApp! So I call him, nothing.

What has happened here?! I know nobody can tell me. It was a 30 minute drive each way, so 1 hour in the car.

Obviously it's done which is a shame but it is what it is.

Has this happened to anyone else?!

His wife came home unexpectedly?

RosesandPumpkins · 01/08/2021 21:43

What a total fucking knob. Why couldn’t he have lied about being busy before you left the house ffs.

I saw a bloke who had blocked me before the end of the date.

Fucking wanker

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 01/08/2021 21:44

Yeah married or partner turned up.

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:44

I would be surprised, I have slept over and he very clearly lives alone. Plus he's quite young so would be more unusual for him to be married.

How weird. Were you going to his house? Do you know the exact address?

FenceSplinters · 01/08/2021 21:45

X-post

Is it possible to tell if he is in or not?

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:46

Thats it, I wouldn't have given a shite if he hadn't invited me over and just blocked me?! He even texted and said "have you set off?" He easily could have said turn back etc, I get my messages through my car.

Possibly a gf turning up unexpectedly, he could still live alone and not have much evidence of a gf in his flat.
JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:48

I do know the exact address, I stayed over Friday night, however he lives in an apartment/flat complex so needed to buzz me in to park. I know which apartment is his and the lights were on.

It's a long shot but.. could he have blocked you by mistake?!

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 01/08/2021 21:48

He's text the wrong number and the person he was supposed to text has turned up

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:49

Definitely not blocked me by mistake, i like your optimism though Grin

I really dont have the girlfriend impression, suppose it could be, but surely more beneficial for him to make an excuse rather than just blocking me as I could have been waiting there ages.

OP posts:
FenceSplinters · 01/08/2021 21:50

Have you tried buzzing?

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:50

Not texted the wrong number, we were having a conversation on WhatsApp and had multiple messages about me going over, had I set off yet etc. Then obviously we spoke when I was outside as he said he'd nipped to the shop and would be a minute.

OP posts:
JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:51

I didnt buzz on, to be honest I was embarrassed and wanted to get out of there! I was worried he'd be watching me from the flat so I drove off after a few minutes.

SprayedWithDettol · 01/08/2021 21:52

It’s a game. He has enjoyed knowing you made the effort to drive over and then had to drive back. He is a grade A bastard.

Chickenyhead · 01/08/2021 21:53

He is a grade A wankstain.

I wager 4x🍩 that he will contact you in a months time with some lame are excuse.

Block this waste of skin.

Prick.

Yellowhighheels · 01/08/2021 21:55

How odd. I expect he's had second thoughts about dating (I would bet nothing you did as it's so new), he left it too late to tell you, or so he thought, and panicked. You say he's very young so he might not have had the maturity to have a difficult conversation, or just let you down gently at the last minute.

It reminds me slightly of a third date with a man I had got on great with. He invited me to his new place for a nice takeaway and a bottle of wine. It was some distance away but I was happy to go. I arrived, he greeted me but was very unsettled. I eventually asked him if everything was ok, and he admitted that he was sorry but an ex had got in touch to tell him she had met someone new and he'd realised he wasn't really in the place he thought he was for dating. He had received this message when i was on my way and he didn't like to ring and ask me to turn around. To be honest, I wished he had.

I wonder if it was something along those lines.

Noluthando · 01/08/2021 21:55

That's so bizarre and weird behaviour. Obviously you're well rid and it's better that you've found out what he is like sooner rather than later.

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:55

Thanks, I do get the impression he's just a massive cock as opposed to he has a girlfriend etc.

Im more annoyed about the waste of time. I would hav been fine if he'd have just called it a day but to block me while I was outside? Just odd behaviour. Who knows how long I'd have been sat there if I wasn't checking WhatsApp!

How do you know you were blocked? One grey tick on WhatsApp? Maybe his phone just ran out of battery when he was at the shops. Otherwise, what a total arse. Hope you're ok OP.

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 21:59

Thanks Yellow, it probably was something along those lines. My friend said he probably got overwhelmed, I just dont know what he would have got overwhelmed about?!

His own importance.

Prick.

JenuineGelly · 01/08/2021 22:02

His profile photo disappeared Dr, then I called and he didn't pick up.
