Husband said he will divorce me if I get Botox

....... and I got it on Thursday .....

I have wanted it for some time, and love it!
The effects haven’t fully started yet, but I mentioned a friend (who was with me) had it and he hit the roof!

Said point blank - if I fucked with my face he would leave me over it. No questions asked.

The only question I have is - should I pack his bags for him and tell him? Or just ignore him and continue making myself happy?!

You should do whatever you like. His attitude is odd, it's nice for him to think you look nice au naturel but plenty of people make improvements to their looks.

Serpenta · 05/06/2021 23:06

I'd hate for my husband to have botox. I think it looks awful on men. But I'd have to smile weakly and say 'your body, your choice'.

bellsbuss · 05/06/2021 23:08

I wanted to have Botox but OH said I don't understand why you want it you're beautiful. Bless him , I didn't bother in the end .

PrtScn · 05/06/2021 23:09

He probably doesn't want you to end up looking like Jackie Stallone Smile

OooPourUsACupLove · 05/06/2021 23:13

So you don't cut your hair , dye your hair , do anything to your eyebrows etc ?

Hahaha nope! Don't even shave my legs!

katy1213 · 05/06/2021 23:14

If you end up looking like Britt Ekland, I wouldn't blame him.

Serpenta · 05/06/2021 23:14

Funnily enough I was just reading about Britt Ekland yesterday and her plastic surgery regrets.

MrMeeseekslookatme · 05/06/2021 23:15

@Donotgogentle

You should see the chemicals in my hair dye.
Yeh, but I don't make a habit of having that injected into my face my someone who isn't properly medically trained. Do you?!
ineedaholidaynow · 05/06/2021 23:16

If people don't notice you have had it done, what is the point of it?

Hushabyelullaby · 05/06/2021 23:16

Your body your choice OP.

I'm waiting for Botox injections into my adductor muscles in my legs, and may ask them for the leftover to be put in my face Grin

MrsMaizel · 05/06/2021 23:18

@OooPourUsACupLove

How long is your hair ?
OooPourUsACupLove · 05/06/2021 23:21

About mid chest. It's half grey as well.

I might get it cut when I go back to the office though because it takes a long time to dry.

Lucyccfc68 · 05/06/2021 23:22

@toastjam

I got it today and am so happy. I have 2 babies under 2 and haven't slept in years and I wanted to do it for myself. I said to DH I wouldn't get it - but only if he dealt with every night waking. He said no so I got it 😀
Does Botox make your babies sleep?
intor · 05/06/2021 23:24

What I don't understand is super-rich celebrities look awful with it. Presumably they have access to the best people to do it. Certainly more than Jane from Accounts would. I'm thinking of Courtney Cox etc. They probably think they look great, and their friends aren't going to be able to tell them the truth after they start looking like a wax doll.

BackforGood · 05/06/2021 23:24

I'd feel as though my dh didn't want me to be happy in my skin and have more confidence.

How ironic Grin Grin Grin

MrMeeseekslookatme makes an excellent point

If people don't notice you have had it done, what is the point of it?

as does Ineedaholidaynow

Donotgogentle · 05/06/2021 23:26

Peroxide in hair dye goes where it’s intended. As does Botox into muscles.

The chemicals don’t bother me per se.

RaininSummer · 05/06/2021 23:26

I sort of understand him. It's not necessarily a form of control as I would leave my partner if they started doing stuff like Botox, tattoos, drugs. Just not stuff that I want to have in my life even if it's not my body. It's more of a ’values’ thing for want of a better word

EKGEMS · 05/06/2021 23:27

My son has severe spastic cerebral palsy and years ago when he was much younger he would get Botox injections (and another medication) into his legs and ankles to help with the severe muscle tightness, performed under general anesthesia. They also use it for migraine headaches and people with severe, excessive sweating here in the US. I personally would rather get my under eye bags from my severe allergies treated bad Botox but we are all different

Donotgogentle · 05/06/2021 23:27

@OooPourUsACupLove

I really respect that position, it’s just not one I’ve adopted.
oioisaveloy108 · 05/06/2021 23:28

You are perfectly reasonable to get Botox
He is perfectly reasonable to not like it

Sillawithans · 05/06/2021 23:34

@EKGEMS use pile cream for the bags under your eyes, no joke. In Ireland we have cream called Anusol, think that's what it's called an it's brilliant for bags. Conditioner is great for removing mascara, just melts off and lanacane anti chaff is the best primer for make up. Just thought I'd throw in those little hacks.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 05/06/2021 23:35

I just looked up Britt Eckland.

She has the same stretched mouth as Courtney Cox, Jennifer Anniston, Sharon Osbourne and numerous others.

Is this a ‘trend’? It’s really distracting. Not keen on that particular ‘look’ at all.

Serpenta · 05/06/2021 23:39

I think some stars like Leslie Ashe and Britt Ekland got lip fillers which were undissolvable and means they're stuck with these strange looking lips.

converseandjeans · 05/06/2021 23:42

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-9653697/Britt-Ekland-says-toll-cosmetic-injections-bitter-lesson-Instagram-stars.html

I think he's right to discourage you. It can look awful. Maybe he was being dramatic saying he'd leave you. But he is obviously concerned you'll end up like Britt Ekland, Jackie Stallone, Donatella Versace.

I personally don't find women having botox liberting. It's quite sad they feel the need to inject stuff into their faces just to feel good about themselves.

converseandjeans · 05/06/2021 23:44

serpenta

Golly yes forgot about Leslie Ash - she was so pretty before she got all those fillers.
