If there's a cloud next to an app... he's downloaded it before hasn't he?

BubbleTeaJunkie · 20/12/2020 16:11

Been together 15 years. Pure hookup anonymous dating on his iPad.. has a cloud next to it..

OP posts:
youvegottenminuteslynn · 21/12/2020 11:48

Be careful he's not at the start of the age old sequence of events, roughly as follows...

How could you think I would download them?!

Ok well I must have accidentally downloaded them

If that's not possible I must have been hacked

Ok I downloaded them but just out of curiosity (he's already done this excuse for tinder)

Ok I messaged some people but never organised to met up (as if that makes it ok)

Ok I organised to meet up but I didn't actually go

Ok I went but only because I didn't want to be rude and be a no show

Ok I went and we kissed then I realised it was wrong and deleted everything because I love you

Ok I slept with her but I felt sick after and told her we couldn't see each other any more
Etc etc

Ask him why hackers would hack his phone, download six hook up / dating apps then uninstall them, all without his knowledge...

Ask yourself that too.

Sorry OP he's full of shit and it's insulting he's treating you as if you're stupid.

Lougle · 21/12/2020 12:22

I would believe him and I think you'd be crazy to throw away this relationship because, essentially, other people have been cheated on and are suspicious.

I would cry if DH accused me of something that I couldn't prove I didn't do.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 21/12/2020 12:27

@Lougle

You genuinely believe that six dating apps were downloaded to his phone accidentally / by someone else / by hackers, then uninstalled? All without his knowledge? But that he did download tinder out of curiosity?
firecracker69 · 21/12/2020 12:38

"He said the private browser was part of a VPN, and he said it's possible he did download Tinder just out of curiosity when it first came out, but never used it."

So, he might have downloaded Tinder but not the others? Bullshit.
He's admitted a little bit of deceit in a wanky attempt to show he's supposedly being honest. Many liars try this tactic.

RainMoon · 21/12/2020 12:42

You told him before he came home so he had chance to wipe his phone?
Sorry, he has downloaded them and he is lying, even if it was years ago he has still cheated or wanted to, you can’t accidentally download 6 dating apps

DrizzleandDamp · 21/12/2020 12:44

My ex got emotional then I found his burner phone in his glove box. If you have his devices you have his email, reset the password on the apps using his email options or FB/Google log in and look what is on them.

Dating apps don’t just download themselves sorry it’s awful for you.

Flowerpot345 · 21/12/2020 12:47

The crying sounds like guilt, and the realisation he's been found out..
My friend always thought her husband was really genuine a good guy, a bit boring..
She was with him for 10 years, she described him as someone who had detested cheating after his Dad had cheated on his mother repeatedly.
She found he was on different websites sending filthy messages to multiple women.
They split up then got back together again after him promising not to do it again.
2 years later she found messages again, to random women and he was on different sites again.
Some people are just really good at being fake.
Sorry OP.

Mrsmummy90 · 21/12/2020 13:01

He is totally lying and is insulting your intelligence. He's using the same script as most guys do! "I was just curious" 🙄

Groovinpeanut · 21/12/2020 13:18

OP you've come on here to to ask for help and advice... Then you've minimised his behaviour by the fact that he's shed a few tears and pleaded innocent. Bottom line is, he's a cheat!
If I could have a £1 for everytime I've heard "He's a really good guy, he would never cheat or sign up for hook-ups"
in my working day, I could retire a very rich lady.
He's capable of anything, as are all humans.
You ask what to do? Well that's really up to you. Do you want to forgive him? Do you not feel he's taking the piss lying to you? Or that he's making silly excuses up that he did little bits out of curiosity. The my phone was hacked is just ridiculous.
iPhones don't go into overdrive letting all and manner of people hack phones and download hook-up sites!
The trust is something you'll ever have now. You'll always be on your guard. Yes it would be devastatingly sad to end a 15yr relationship. But you would expect someone to be honest, trustworthy and faithful after 15 yes. Your relationship obviously means less to him if he's been prepared to jepoardise it.
I'm guessing you'll stick with him regardless, only you can make decisions regarding your life.

Seatime · 21/12/2020 13:32

Sorry you are going through this. You don't deserve his deceit and cheating.

yetmorecrap · 21/12/2020 13:36

I’m so sorry OP— I had something quite unbelievable happen too - no one hacks this kind of thing— the fact it’s multiple ones points to someone who did this allat a similar time is likely to pointvto someone who saw an opportunity for ‘a bit of fun’ you were away, they were away etc— he may just have been nosey, never used it etc— problem is he left that trail that I bet he never thought of. If you keep bills, you might want to check back on mobile bills and see if strange numbers appear a lot . It’s up to you what you do, but he is lying for sure unless someone else has that phone at that time

Shoxfordian · 21/12/2020 14:32

He's downloaded these apps at some point. There is no innocent explanation. Sorry op

Sssloou · 21/12/2020 14:49

The worst bit will be him driving you insane for the next few days / weeks / months with gaslighting and lies.

That really, really destroys you.

You can omit this step if you like.

Aquamarine1029 · 21/12/2020 15:57

I really hope you don't fall for his absurd crocodile tears, and he is lying straight to your face. Does he really think you're stupid enough to believe that those apps just magically appeared on his iPad, or someone went out of their way to "hack" his account? Come on. His desperate excuses are laughable.

Alwaysandforeverhere · 21/12/2020 16:04

Download drfone and log in with his Apple details to download back up. Full restore of even deleted items including pictures, WhatsApp messages, app etc. All date and time stamped. Technically created for phone failures but perfect for these times.

ErickBroch · 21/12/2020 16:08

There is literally no other reason - he is lying to you. He's had the phone 10 years.... Tinder didn't exist 10 years ago (for example) so he's obviously downloaded it and nobody else. Do you really believe someone has 'hacked' his icloud account just to download dating apps?

Windmillwhirl · 21/12/2020 17:31

Of course he can't prove his innocence. He's crying because he has been caught out. I know you want to believe him but ask yourself why all the apps that were miraculously downloaded were all potential hookup sites? He's lying to you. I'm so sorry.

HavelockVetinari · 21/12/2020 18:50

The only way to properly check is to re-download a couple, enter his email address and see if there's an option to reset password.

BubbleTeaJunkie · 21/12/2020 19:06

He's admitted using chat roulette then searching for other apps similar.... took over 24 hours to 'remember' he had done that... wonder what he will 'remember' tomorrow!

Feel like 15 years of my life have been a fake lie. He told me he was speaking to people for around a month... it was just innocent mostly apparently and he was just looking....

Christ I need to have a stiff drink. Merry fricking Christmas indeed! Men are all pigs!

Chocolate1992 · 21/12/2020 19:15

At least it’s not Grindr Blush

Either way, he’d be straight out the door, he wouldn’t have time to make his story up. Wine

hocuspocus1922 · 21/12/2020 19:19

Op he's done everything you have found out about . My ex was the quietest loveliest non slim ball guy ever ten years later turns out it had all been a lie . On sleezy sites cheating . You make it . Even looking me in the eye bawling saying it wasn't him ! Get rid op

hocuspocus1922 · 21/12/2020 19:20

It's the quiet ones you want to watch

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 21/12/2020 19:28

He has an additional / secret email address. You’ll be able to ‘look’ at the apps he’s weeping about and you’ll see nothing. No useage, no profile. The ‘I was just looking’ / ‘I don’t understaaaaand’ excuse is watertight.

But they have been downloaded. I work in e-commerce. Look for another emails address.

What a shit.

MrsVogon · 21/12/2020 19:36

Oh yes...the quiet ones who people don't think would do anything unsaintly Halo are often the ones to watch. My ex was the same. People were shocked when they found out he had cheated as they thought he would be the last person on earth to do something like that. Ten years gone down the drain for 'excitement'.

He is drip feeding you and it's all the classic hallmarks of 'suddenly remembering' Confused that they had actually downloaded an app out of 'curiosity'. Total and utter bollocks. The looking in the eye and telling you he is being truthful is also classic...did he swear on somebody's life too?

I'm so sorry OP.

Kittykat93 · 21/12/2020 19:48

Can't believe you gave him a chance to clear his phone!! Mistake number one! But yeah he's a big fat liar. He's crying because he's thinking oh shit. He's already gone from completely innocent to admitting to being on tinder and chat roulette.
