What is this? Anyone with any knowledge? Dentist etc? Suspect possibility of love bite. Left by other woman on purpose? He's prone to binge-drinking and falling over. How likely is it there's an innocent explanation?

It looks suspiciously 'pair of lips' shaped, to me.

Definitely doesn’t look like a love bite OP. Do you have reason to suspect that he’s cheating as that mark doesn’t scream affair to me.

I had a similar bruise on my arm recently from my iPhone armband.

Looks much more like an impact bruise than a love-bite to me.

Love bites don’t tend to have blank centres. It looks like something has been placed on the skin to create a love bite. Say a Hoover attachment.

Although red like a lovebite, the pattern doesn't fit so more likely a bruise. Lovebites cause bruise by the suction which is concentrated in the middle, so get a redness that is like a line and fades to edges but this has a gap and the red is on the periphery, so I'd guess more likely PFL ( pissed and fell over)

It doesn't look it, but is it swollen/bump under the skin? If not I think it's a love bite.

If it was a bruise, surely the whole 'bruised' area would be coloured IYSWIM, rather than have gaps as shown in the picture?

But the fact that it was your first thought suggests that there is more to this.

I often bruise like that if I have itchy skin - it's just how I'm prone to bruising. I frequently have patches on me that look like that.

I cannot IMAGINE taking a photo of my husband's back and posting it on here! Did he know? Did he agree? If so, that's JUST as weird!
