I've wasted money and made myself obsessed.

I've been a real idiot the last month. I'm currently wide awake as tonight was the night everything needed to stop.

I developed a strong intense crush a month ago. Was so sure the man felt the same. In my desperation I turned to a psychic who I've used before. I do trust her. She picked up he liked me and saw him opening up. She said he was recovering from a relationship though so was going to take a while to untangle things.

Then I discovered esty readers. How stupid am I! I've tried 8 this last two weeks. Absolutely every single one fed me different stuff.

I was so desperate to know. Then today I realised how stupid I've been. Nothings happened. He didn't approach me. . I left an honest review on a psychic page because she told me he'd give me his number. He didn't. She has since been private emailing me to say she will deal with my review publicly. Then she's tried to say he knows my address and just because I'm impatient doesn't mean it won't happen. Then she told me she didn't think my personality is nice like she read after all. Charming!!

Anyway I'm upset at my stupidity. But also I'm upset at how desperately obsessed I got over this man.

I went back to the psychic I trust tonight. She said a spirit is blocking him because he's too much like the men in my history. Apparently he's gone from being a sweet guy ready to open up but nervous. To abit of a player.

I'm so stupid.

Can we please be clear about the difference between a BACP registered counsellor and Auntie Nellie and her tarot cards,

A counsellor undergoes rigorous and indepth training lasting years. They have placements which are monitored closely. They , themselves are obliged as part of the course to undergo counselling. Once qualified, they are obligated to have regular supervision by a professional to ensure they are working in a safe and ethical manner.

At the beginning of therapy, they will outline their safeguarding procedures and explain confidentiality. They will be very clear on times, cost and endevour at all times to create a safe therapeutic space.

Therapy is hard work, its not for the faint hearted but it can help in my opinion.

randomer · 14/10/2020 12:05

@hoodathunkit, please direct me to websites of people offering this type of " therapy"

I would advise extreme caution in this respect as many BACP and UKCP accredited counsellors and therapists combine their counselling and therapy with tarot cards, astrology, "shamanism", past life regression, reiki etc

@randomer - Hoodathunkit is right, a lot of counsellors have an interest in reiki etc and other stuff, hypnosis, past life regression, whatever. But they wouldn't add anything to the session in an open way unless a client wanted it or came for it.

You can use this site to find a complementary therapist near you Grin www.therapy-directory.org.uk/

I can't believe people fall for this. We had a death in the family recently and a family member went to one to get some closure. She came out all relieved having been told things the psychic could never know. When she relayed this to me it was actually very general stuff that I expect gets spouted out to everyone and not very specific at all. The psychic was asked for a message to another family member and was told "oh no, he spirit can only speak to one person at a time and if they want to speak to them via me, they have to come themselves and pay the £40".

They are charlatans who should be held accountable for the emotional damage they do. What easy money, £40 an hour.

Marmalade414 · 14/10/2020 12:35

I was sucked in by the Amazon reviews. But then I bet most of these I hindsight were written after reading what they wanted to hear.

I told the psychic last night who's on Tele! That I had left her 2 stars as her prediction hasn't happened. She said most people wait a couple of weeks before condoning the psychic. I said to her why do I need to wait two more weeks when the opportunity has passed and he didn't do what you said. She then got rude. Called me impatient. Said she would respond to my review publicly. I said to her instead of trying to discredit by review to save your reputation why don't you tell me as your customer why it didn't happen and why you was wrong. She said he knows where you live your just impatient. That doesn't mean he won't do it.

So she's covering her arse with oh but he will put his number through one day but she then had the power to extend the time didn't she. She could say within six months. Because let's face it. Everyone has forgotten in six months. If you don't forget then she can say the energies changed.

I can see perfectly clear now.

Literally all of this could be avoided if you just walked over and asked him out for a drink or ask your friend to give him your number.

There's no shame in fancying someone and if you've misread the situation there's no shame in taking defeat with dignity.

Go for it, and who cares if he's with his mates all the time, they're men, they'll all be thinking "lucky bugger"

Marmalade414 · 14/10/2020 12:36

Amazing reviews not Amazon.

I can't just pop out for drinks. I am a full time mum. I can't really Jump straight into arranging a date.

Marmalade414 · 14/10/2020 12:38

Well that would depend on if they think I'm a weird minger across the road lol. But yeah I'm sure the banter would flow. But I'm not that confident unfortunately. I wish I was.

A BACP counsellor is interested in counselling. Its a profession.
It is not an " alternative" therapy.

So no one can watch you kids ever?

Sorry I don’t understand this. You don’t have to arrange a date right there while he’s working Confused

Understand if you don’t feel confident to approach...but as you said you had been exchanging greetings?

I just can’t get my head around why you would pay multiple conwomen/professional bullshitters to tell you such rubbish.

MotherOfChaos28 · 14/10/2020 12:46

Psychics are the actual worst. There is no such thing as a psychic you can trust. They’re con artists who prey on vulnerable people. Anyone else deliberately targeting bereaved or otherwise grief stricken people for money would be rightly vilified so I don’t understand why psychics are so popular. They’re leeches. OP I’m sorry you’re having a rough time but if you’re struggling with any sort of emotional issue please talk to a counsellor or a friend but please please stay away from psychics.

TableFlowerss · 14/10/2020 12:51

I do struggle to comprehend in this day and age why so many people believe some people are psychic!

What gets me mad though is the con artists that prey on vulnerable people (those that are bereaved) it’s absolutely disgusting and should be banned!

I'm sure this is true of some 'counsellors' but the question was are they BACP and UKCP accredited?

Personally I'd like to see any promotion of harmful pseudoscience being against the proffessional standards of all academic or medical proffessionals.

Christ almighty OP your updates... in the nicest way, you need to grow up! Your issue with these frauds is their poor customer service??

THEY. ARE. BULLSHIT. ARTISTS. It’s not even hard, watch a YouTube tutorial and you’ll be able to do it yourself.

They’re not regulated, because THEY ARE ALL FRAUDS making a living off ignorant and vulnerable people. If you regaukeyd physics not one would pass the regulation, because none would be Abel to demonstrate they are actually physic. Because they aren’t.

12309845653ghydrvj · 14/10/2020 13:02

Seriously, find something nicer to waste your money on.

A bunch of flowers. A scented candle. A bottle of wine. All have the benefit of actually existing.

12309845653ghydrvj · 14/10/2020 13:02

ANd of course they’re not enaggajng with you on prediction being wrong—they know their predictions are BS, they are laughing at you and taking your money. Have some self respect

SBTLove · 14/10/2020 13:04

Your update about the bad review is beyond nuts!!
How can you leave a bad review for something that is in your control and nobody else’s? I’m 🤣🤣 at you arguing with the psychic 🙄
Why dream about a romance when you claim being a mum stops you going out?
This must be one of the most batshit threads I’ve read in awhile.

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 14/10/2020 13:07

Why are you blaming them?

You went from psychic to psychic to psychic until you got the predictions you wanted, and now you're angry because they didnt come true? What else do you expect? Of course it wint come true.

Get yourself some help.

raddledoldmisanthropist · 14/10/2020 13:08

I'm not sure all Physicists are frauds. That Newton chap was obviously just taking the piss with the 'equal and opposite forces' bollocks but I think Hawking's idea that there are 23 dimensions but you can't see most of them because they are screwed up really small seems like common sense.

@raddledoldmisanthropist

😂😂😂 a nice reminder of why I shouldn’t type while on my lunchtime walk

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 14/10/2020 13:13

If you do get a date with this bloke, OP, I'd keep your predilection for spunking money on grifters very much off the table, conversation-wise . . .

Happyheartlovelife · 14/10/2020 13:26

They say people with a true gift would never charge you money

So there's your answer

Any psychic shouldn't make money out of their gift. That's what it says.

So any pushing asking for money for readings are not real!

Desmondo2016 · 14/10/2020 13:28

OP you sound intelligent and lovely, you just lost your way for a minute. Having a crush is cool, it's nothing to be ashamed of! Go on, do it. Tell your friend that you like him and ask her to suggest to him that he bangs on your door for a chat tonight. You literally have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.

Yeah he may be a player and a married man and a flirt. Or he may be single and just as taken by you as you are by him. You're already feeling shit about the whole thing so it would seem a shame not to risk a teensy bit more shitness for the potential of a hot date or even more!
