If you're ok with porn....can you please not be

So many people reply to messages on here about porn with"I'm ok with porn" can you please look at Rose Kalemba's fight to get her rape and torture removed from PornHub. This is what modern porn is. Stop being ok with it. And it's been going on for years because Traci Lords was underage back in the 70s/80s. Someone's right to masturbate shouldn't come before human trafficking and some people on here are part of the problem with their"porn is ok" stance. It's time to realise that unfortunately it's really not ok

It's really unsettling walking in on your husband wanking to porn when you're nursing a baby or dealing with a prolapsed peace of mind or you've had a heart attack or you're going through chemo or maybe none of those things
I mean if you’re in that situation then your DH/P should know better porn or no porn. Masturbation is healthy and normal and for a lot of people they can’t just use their imagination.

KnockDownNinjas · 24/05/2020 13:51

@QuentinWinters
I would say we need need sex in the same way we need clothes.
We could all completely abstain from indulging any sexual impulse in the same way we could just cut holes into burlap sacks and wear those. It's just not likely to happen. Food is a necessity, which is why I didn't mention food at all.

You're sort of conflating things here. Consensual sex with an adult woman is not abuse but doing the exact same thing with a child would be abuse. There is a difference between what adults and children can consent to in the eyes of the law (and most sane indidivuals).

Child abuse isn't acceptable. In fact it's illegal. Wherever you're going to see all of these videos involving underage actresses should be reported.

yesterdaystotalsteps123 · 24/05/2020 14:11

"slightly questionable descriptions" is minimising. It's promoting women as objects to exploit. It's misogyny. But it's becoming normalised to think of women in this way. I wonder if there is a study which analyses the key words that are repeatedly used to describe women in porn. And the thing about amateur couples is how do you know the "consent" was not coerced? How do you actually know 100% that before, during and after that person gave consent to the filming, sexual acts, uploading? You can't tell by looking

OP posts:
JasHarts · 24/05/2020 14:54

@yesterdaystotalsteps123 you don’t but you don’t know 100% that anything is consensual except the things that you do yourself. You don’t know if the people who make your clothes or clean your car are being exploited/forced to work. You don’t know for sure that marriages aren’t being forced. You don’t know for sure that people writing wills aren’t being coerced.

I’m shocked you find it so unrealistic and mind blowing that women might actually enioy making porn and enjoy the money that comes from it.i

I find that very hard to believe ^ anyone can write anything on social media

JasHarts · 24/05/2020 16:20

Again, it’s not a great source with no proof that it happened.
I’m not saying she is lying but what if she is? How do we know that she wasn’t anti-porn and created the story to encourage people to stop viewing it? Anyone could post a story on twitter and it could gain traction and from what I’ve seen on MN from a certain demographic of women, there are a lot of women out there who are anti-porn

Pornhub Reportedly Profits From Nonconsensual Videos And Real Rape Tapes—Here Are The Latest Examples

It’s no secret that Pornhub is one of the biggest free porn sites in the world. But what is lesser-known is exactly what kind of illicit and illegal videos this porn giant profits from.

The site has been in the news in the last few months for a range of reasons, but not for the reasons you might expect—they’ve gotten press from Kanye West’s porn habit confession to their “conservation efforts.”

In recent history, the tube-site has tagged their name to charitable efforts like planting trees, saving bees, and now cleaning up the ocean. Pornhub’s latest 2019 “Dirtiest Porn Ever” campaign asks consumers to watch an explicit video filmed on a garbage littered beach, and in return, this free porn website—one of the largest in the world—will donate to a plastic waste recycler. (The donation is an undisclosed sum. Chances are it’s similar to their “Save the Whales” stunt when they donated a penny for every 2K views. That’s $50 for 10 million views, in case you’re curious.)

Cleaning up the environment is no joke, but doing it under the guise of promoting a product with known harmful effects is virtue signaling at its finest. Pick up a trash bag and ditch the porn, we say.

Many people have praised Pornhub’s efforts to clean up one beach, but it doesn’t begin to make up for their abusive and downright illegal business practices. Story after story in recent news has also shown how tube sites like Pornhub profit from nonconsensual videos—including real rape videos, secret filming, revenge porn, upskirting, stolen videos, and child abuse videos of a trafficked teen.

And if you’re into Twitter threads, we’ve got one that compiles all of the following info:

Brace yourselves for a depressing list of the nonconsensual videos found on Pornhub in just the past couple of months alone. Note that for every known example, there are many more unidentified and other examples that aren’t public…yet.

Videos of underage sexual assault and rape victims
When Rose Kalemba was 14 years old in 2009, she was abducted by men driving around her neighborhood and reportedly raped by them for hours. Nearly losing her life and being stabbed multiple times, she was able to reason with the attackers and escape with her life.

She thought her nightmare was over, despite being victim-blamed and attempting suicide the day after she was released from the hospital.

A couple of months after the attack, Rose discovered a Pornhub link her schoolmates were sharing around—it was the video of her rape. There were 6 videos in all of the attack.

The video was uploaded under the titles: “teen crying and getting slapped around,” “teen getting destroyed,” and “passed out teen.”

Rose described the following days and months to the BBC in an interview. “The worst videos were the ones where I was passed out. Seeing myself being attacked where I wasn’t even conscious was the worst,” she said. Most of her peers in school saw the uploaded videos, and intense bullying from both male and female classmates ensued.

Seeing myself being attacked where I wasn’t even conscious was the worst,” she said. Most of her peers in school saw the uploaded videos, and intense bullying from both male and female classmates ensued.

In talking to Fight the New Drug about her story, the now 25-year-old Rose said:

“My assault itself put me in a mental prison, but PornHub gave me a life sentence. Millions of men watched the six videos of my assault. I have no way of knowing how many of those millions downloaded them and still have access to them even after PornHub finally removed them from its site after I pretended to be a lawyer… The porn industry made it so that my rape didn’t just end that horrible night, and my fears weren’t just that—they quickly became reality. Because of the porn industry, I was harassed, stalked, threatened, and so much more for years and years after my attack. I was followed multiple times when I was walking around, spit on, and groped, and touched against my will—by complete strangers and also some boys and grown men I knew.”

Every day, she had to live with the aching anxiety that everyone she met had seen her worst nightmare on video. “Had they seen it? Were they aroused by it? Had they gratified themselves to my rape?” she asked herself whenever interacting with a new stranger.

After discovering that her rape was broadcasted online for anyone to see, Rose spent 6 months periodically emailing Pornhub, asking for the videos to be taken down.

“I pleaded with them. I wrote, ‘Please, I’m a minor, this was assault, please take it down,’” Rose told the BBC.

Rose says she received no reply to her emails, and the videos stayed live on the site.

After months of unsuccessful petitioning—months of reliving the horror of her rape every time she saw a stranger knowing they could watch her filmed assault at any second—Rose set up an email account and contacted Pornhub posing as a lawyer threatening a lawsuit. Rose says that within 48 hours of this email, the videos were gone.

So the summary of this horrifying reality is that Pornhub ignored an underage rape victim for months but listened to a lawyer threatening to sue within 2 days. Let that sink in.

But Rose is far from the only one this has happened to. After Rose’s story went public, many people reached out to her, letting her know she isn’t alone. There is an untold number of people whose recorded abuse is still available to view and download on Pornhub. How is any of this okay?

Videos of underage trafficking victims
In November 2019, a sex-trafficked 15-year-old girl was found after a year of being missing after her mother reported to the police 58 videos of the girl being raped by her trafficker and other sex buyers on Pornhub.

“Police investigated and discovered nearly 60 pornographic videos of the Sunrise girl posted on Periscope, Pornhub, Modelhub, Snapchat and other websites, according to an arrest report,” reported the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

And to make matters worse, there are new reports emerging that the 15-year-old trafficking survivor was “verified” on Pornhub with a blue checkmark next to the account the videos were uploaded to, implying she was an adult professional. Given that anyone can be “verified” on Pornhub, no identification or age check required, this isn’t surprising, but it’s a new low for the giant porn site. Her story drives the point home that you can never know if content is truly consensual.

Christopher Johnson, the 30-year-old man arrested at the time of the girl’s rescue a few months ago, denies raping the girl—legally, she cannot consent to sex, so it’s rape—despite his appearance in the videos. The rape tapes that showed Johnson assaulting her were filmed inside his apartment, the girl told the police. The 30-year-old was charged with felony lewd or lascivious battery on a victim between 12 and 16.

At last, Pornhubremoved the official Girls Do Porn Pornhub channel. Despite complaints and a lawsuit against the production company, including a case put forward by 22 victims suing Girls Do Porn forforcing them to perform porn, the decision to remove the original uploads from Pornhub and affiliate site YouPorn only cameafterthe owners were arrested and federally charged with sex trafficking.

The victims of Girls Do Porn say that the videos on Pornhub resulted in them beingdoxed, and even though the originals have been removed, dozens of copies of individual videos are still scattered across the tube sites.

Nonconsensual hidden cam videos of university student locker rooms

A completely different collection of nonconsensual videos on Pornhub was discovered recently in a case of five different women’s sports teams who weresecretly filmedin the locker rooms at Limestone College in South Carolina. Hidden cam videos of at least five different women’s teams showering and changing in the locker rooms wereuploaded over the course of a year, according to reports.

Pornhub eventually removed the originally uploaded videos after they were reported and the police got involved, but as in all of these stories, removing the original doesn’t erase all existence of the videos online. They are still being re-uploaded either to Pornhub or affiliate porn sites, or both.

And consider how there’s no way for victims of hidden camera videos to know to look for these videos to report them—they were viewed thousands of times before being taken down.

Sassandfaff1 · 24/05/2020 16:36

There are rape tapes on the platform even today from over 5 years ago, depicting the assault of twenty women from a convicted rapist who was imprisoned years ago in a highly publicized case.

Taiwanese socialite and playboy, Justin Lee, wasconvicted of raping 20 womenand secretly videotaping his abuse. Justin Lee was arrested in 2012, sentenced to nearly 80 years in prison, but his case has popped up again as it was confirmed that Lee’s illegal videos can still be found online at—where else?—Pornhub.

A recent story from the UK movement #NotYourPorn revealed that Pornhub is not always compliant in cases of image-based sexual abuse.

One woman found videos of herself on the porn site and went to the police. Her ex-boyfriend secretly filmed their intimate moments and uploaded them to the website, and according to the police, they already had a case against this man. But in order to progress toward a conviction, the police required a statement from the tube-site describing the nature of the platform and the uploading process. After multiple attempts by police to get a statement, Pornhub failed to comply, resulting in the woman’s case falling through. The private images are still on the site, being viewed by thousands.

MORE than 70 Australian schools are targets for a perverse pornography ring of teen boys and young men secretly swapping and exchanging graphic sexual images of female students and other nonconsenting women.

News.com.au can reveal more than 2000 images have been posted or traded by Australian members since the group began operating in December last year.

Young men use the site to nominate the specific high school or region they are phishing for nude photos from, along with the full names of girls they are “hunting”. Hundreds of individual names have appeared on “wanted” lists, including the names of sisters and entire high school friendship circles.

Once a girl’s name appears on a list, other members of the group then “contribute” by posting identifying information about the intended victim, such as her full name, face, school, home address, and phone number, along with directives like “Go get her boys!”

Any “wins” (a colloquial term referring to nude photos) of the nominated target are then uploaded or offered in exchange for a trade. Some targets are so sought after that “bounties” have been offered for any user who can post a “win”.

In one case, one user offered to trade up to 300 nude images of other victims, in exchange for a single nude photo of the one girl he was currently tracking. Another user said he had been trying to unearth nude images of a particular victim for more than five years.

Here are just a few of the thousands of comments from the site*:

“Anyone have any Wenona wins?”

“Anyone have any Saint Clare Year 12 wins?”

“I’ve got heaps of Miami High girls. Kik me if you wanna trade!”

“I ripped these from a computer I was asked to fix a few years ago.”

“Who has nudes of this bitch? I hear she throws it around!”

“I’ll [upload] all [the nudes] I have if people start looking for Hunter Valley, Newcastle or Port Macquarie girls, or any hot sluts”.

“I’m posting pretty much all the hottest little teens I have. All high quality images from Maitland, Newcastle, Cessnock, Rutherford etc.”

“I have a fair few of *** including a few box shots of her.”

“What do you want for the * wins bro?”

“I’ll pay good money to see the rig under *, anyone have any of her?”

“Any ? I’ve hear she sucks d*ks”.

“Let’s make this huge!"

So far thousands of explicit, nude images of teen girls and young women have been uploaded or traded on the swap-meet site. Some high school girls are pictured performing sexual acts while wearing their school uniform. Other images on the site include graphic close-ups of victim’s genitalia and breasts, and photos of young women engaged in penetrative sexual acts.

The site has been reported numerous times to police for child pornography, but so far they say they are unable to act because the site is hosted overseas.

Since its creation, multiple victims have also posted on the site, pleading with the young men to remove their images. Their requests are mostly ignored, laughed at, or in some cases, men retaliate by calling on their “bros” to unearth and upload even more images of the victim.

One young woman who begged for images of her friend to be removed, then had her own name added to the wanted hit-list as punishment.

Another young woman who stated that some of the victims might be “suicidal” was told that it was her fault for behaving like a “slut”, and that her images now belonged “to the internet”.

Most victims, however, appear to have no idea they are even on the site. Users of the site have deliberately tried to conceal their activities from victims by writing the names of targets in a simple code which prevents the girls from searching their own names. “Ellie”, for example, might be written as 3ll13, or “Amanda” as @m@nd@.

School names are also written in code to prevent high schools from detecting that their students are being targeted.

Yet a review of the site has found that at least 70 Australian school names have been mentioned by users requesting “wins” of current or recently graduated students.

In total the site mentions 28 high schools in NSW, 18 in Queensland, 15 in Victoria, five in the ACT, two in South Australia and two in Tasmania.

The site also encourages users to post their “wins” based on location, so that men and boys can study nude images of girls and women who they might know in real life. The site has at least 55 distinct individual threads organised by regions in Australia from urban hubs like Ryde in Sydney to regional centres such as Orange and Cessnock.

‘BEHAVING LIKE A PACK OF HYENAS’

The discovery of the website follows a number of recent related scandals involving students at Brighton Grammar, Melbourne Grammar and St Michael’s Grammar School in Melbourne.

Users on this swap-meet website have also picked up on the media coverage of those scandals and have sought to uncover the original images which appeared on the Brighton Grammar “Young Sluts” Instagram account.

One website user, who admits to being a former Brighton Grammar student, comments that he finds the matter — including the exploitation of primary school girls — hilariously entertaining.

Sharna Bremner from End Rape on Campus says she felt “physically sick when [she] learned of the website and its contents”.

“These boys and men are behaving like a pack of hyenas hunting their prey, and then sharing the spoils with the rest of the group,” she said.

“They’re reducing girls to objects and trophies to be traded like nothing more than swap-cards in the playground”.

Ms Bremner says that charges should be laid against those responsible and that the mentality of these men closely mirrors that of a rapist.

“There are already plenty of consensual adult nude images online that are easily accessible. But these boys and men are not interested in that, because it’s not the nudity alone that they are after,” she said.

“What they are getting off on is the very fact that these images are not consensual and that the victims have no idea they are being exploited.”

Ms Bremner also notes that the users are not searching or categorising the images based on particular physical preferences or fetishes, such as a desire for “big boobs, or blondes, or redheads or whatever”.

“They are hunting women and girls who live in their area and sorting them according to geography. It’s the idea of proximity and accessibility that is considered arousing.

“The thrill is not just that they might see the girl who sits next to them in maths class, it’s also that they can put in an order for the girl from maths class. What these boys are really getting off on is the sense of power they feel over these girls, and the idea that they can own and obtain them like objects.”

Ms Bremner says that she can “absolutely see this [website] leading to acquaintance rape.”

“If you’re a young guy who has been told by your peers that getting images without consent is a good thing, that it gets you pats on the back, then just imagine the accolades you’ll get for physically taking advantage of a girl.”

“This group doesn’t just normalise the idea that consent is irrelevant and doesn’t matter, it actively encourages boys to ignore and violate consent.”

The NSW Sex Crimes Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Linda Howlett says that it “is a criminal offence to take, transmit or possess images that are considered child pornography”.

“This also applies to teenagers, who are reminded that the dissemination of any material depicting nudity or sexual activity involving young people could constitute a criminal offence,” she said.

“They should be aware they could be arrested and charged and, if convicted, end up with a criminal record.”

Police are encouraging any victims to come forward and report it.

I wish I could find the montage I had the misfortune to watch once of pornstar after pornstar crying, shouting 'stop' 'no' and 'you're hurting me', all the while the men just grabbed hold harder and carried on.
It was truly horrific.
I did post it on here at the time but I can't remember what user name I did it under.
I also posted a clip of Belle Kn ox, on her 1st set. She was being abused and the ending showed her face in absolute pain, but just zoned out, waiting for it to be over, with her mascara running down her face from where she had been crying.

KnockDownNinjas · 24/05/2020 19:25

@Sassandfaff1
I just searched for that name in PornHub. It returns no results and no suggested keywords that I can see. I would be shocked if searching for "child porn" returned anything other than a message stating that it was illegal but I'm not quite brave enough to try it.

Taking the story at face value, all of the videos were taken down within a day and many within hours. If that's a poor responses what would be a good one?

From their position, say I had a beef with a performer who makes their living uploading videos of themselves to PornHub. If they were to act without investigating, in cases where abuse is not obvious, I could put the spanner in the works of someone's livelihood saying they were underage.

A lot of what you're posting isn't porn-related and isn't new. I was in school were camera phones had just become a thing. These videos were being and recorded and shared before there was a reliable way to get them online. I still vividly remember one girl proudly showing our whole maths class a video of her getting eaten out by a boy of the same age.

Vretz · 24/05/2020 19:37

Probably worth mentioning Instagram has a lot of content from sex workers.
Same with WhatsApp. It's thorough work and seriously, well done, but look at pirating music...?

It was only when the music industry fundamentally altered it's methods that it destroyed it. Porn isn't going to be destroyed unless you legalise selling sex and hand the power over to women. Banning Pornhub would just mean people switch to another platform. It was Redtube 10 years ago.

For them not to be there in the first place. Anything else is an unacceptably poor response.

I can't believe it's accepted that Pornhub don't need to vet what is uploaded to their servers before publishing it. It's absolutely astonishing that it should run a business model that allows videos of actual rape and other sexual abuse to be published.

How is this justifiable? Ever?

TomPinch · 24/05/2020 23:35

Porn isn't going to be destroyed unless you legalise selling sex and hand the power over to women. Banning Pornhub would just mean people switch to another platform. It was Redtube 10 years ago.

This misses the point.

It is possible to block websites, ie, make them invisible in particular locations. It happens now. It's possible to detect and investigate where people are accessing banned websites.

While it's true that hardcore porn will always be around on the Internet, it's possible to make it more difficult and more risky to find. And therefore, the big sites like Pornhub present a very, very easy target.
