DP ruining my holiday already.

DP has been having a hard time with his mental health recently. To exacerbate this he isn't really seeking help and has been drinking far too much. We're off on holiday with our son (18 months) tomorrow. I'm excited, first holiday together as a family.
I'm off work already, (teacher) but I have been in today to do things for gcse results, but I've also organised all mine and Ds's packing, cancelled the milk, got insurance, euros and made a bag of fun for DS in the plane.

"D"P has just come home at 8pm, dropped the fact that he hasn't washed any of his clothes and needs to do that and pack still, and has basically faffed around for 3 hours, drinking and looking for 1 t shirt. I wanted him to be on baby duty for a couple of hours so I could have a bath, shave my bloody legs and if I was lucky smush a bit of fake tan on. He's done nothing, he's sat here saying he feels that he doesn't deserve the holiday and he's stressed and anxious. I've carried on sorting and packing and now he's "gone out for a pint" so I'm still unbathed, non shaved, pasty white and bloody angry.

His behaviour is so erratic, self-involved and depressing. I read the thread recently about the woman on holiday with her Husband who was behaving horrendously but also had mental health issues and I'm just dreading going.

Not even sure there's an answer for this. Last time he went out at this time he was on a bender for 24 hours, so maybe I'll get to go alone anyway!

You've made me laugh on this thread @Mileysmiley. You're just so unapologetic about your views, which I don't agree with by the way but you've totally held your own against the outrage. You are derailing the thread a bit though. Another poster said start your own thread but no one would read it as it would be too boring, well I would read it and I don't think it would be boring, it would ruffle too many feathers to be dull reading Grin

HollysTeflonSeptum · 23/08/2019 07:07

No one gives a shit Miley.

I do hope OP hasn't been too put off to come back and update.

penmanship · 23/08/2019 07:08

@Mileysmiley

I am aware I am entitled to an opinion, thank you. I guess that's one of the beautiful things feminism has afforded us.

I have no idea how your work history and its gender divisions relates to my previous post.

Mileysmiley · 23/08/2019 07:08

@CarolDanvers

Thank you xx

I'm on my last day of our holiday and its safe to say husband has ruined it for me. I've tried to make it the best it can be for the kids. My husband has ADHD recently diagnosed so been a little chaotic, but yeah he has been a full on knob from the start, had a couple of nice days but he had already ruined it for me, then our last day was ruined. Now lieing in bed waiting to come home contemplating my life.

Mileysmiley · 23/08/2019 07:13

@Moondancer73

I am just a picky person and I need to make sure my family are fed have clean clothes etc.

DP ruining my holiday already.
showmethegin · 23/08/2019 07:19

Keeping everything crossed you're finishing things off and nearly out the door for your fab holiday OP, with or without him!

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 23/08/2019 07:20

I hope he came back op and that you have a lovely holiday Flowers

LittleFairywren · 23/08/2019 07:21

It ain't just Miley that's derailed the thread it's anyone that's responded to her. Well done, hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Op you already know you don't need to be doing so his washing etc for him. As you say he should be supporting you and helping to take stress away, not add to it. Time for a serious think after the holiday about where you see your life going and where he features in it. Why should you be doing all the housework as well as everything else?

FermatsTheorem · 23/08/2019 07:23

Sorry to hear that @lulabaloo. That's really crap. (My ex used to screw up my holidays - in a different way, but I'm coming to realise it's one of the weapons of choice of extremely selfish men.)

I hope OP has carried through with her plan of changing the booking and has left him behind but I fear one of two things wil have happened: either she's spent a sleepless night frantically stuffing his clothes into a suitcase while he sleeps off one five points and now he's hungover in the airport sulking; or he's been on such a bender that he's made it impossible to get to the airport at all.

OP in the unlikely event that you can make it through your seriously derailed thread, I hope things work out well for you. Remember you don't have to put up with his shit.

Alloftit · 23/08/2019 07:23

It ain't just Miley that's derailed the thread it's anyone that's responded to her. Well done, hope you're all proud of yourselves.
Exactly!! Tedious reading.

It’s too late for me to offer any sort of advice now op but I do truly hope you have a nice holiday, one way or another. Sounds like you more than deserve it!!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 23/08/2019 07:24

The main thing i've got from this thread is: judgeypants and a martyr bra. Think i'll log off now.

FredaFrogspawn · 23/08/2019 07:26

I do hope you’re on your way OP.
And that you can find a way to enjoy yourself when you get there. It feels like he needs to reach a point where he understands for himself that he has to stop drinking.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/08/2019 07:26

Well done, hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Is that judgeypants AND martyr bra or just judgeypants. I think we need to agree a scale... Smile

Neolara · 23/08/2019 07:36

Op - I hope the situation has resolved itself satisfactorily one way or the other. Either your dp came home early, packed his bag and sorted himself out. Or you left without him. Enjoy your holiday.

KatherineJaneway · 23/08/2019 07:38

@WhatHoliday

I hope that either with or without your dh you have a wonderful holiday.

blahblahblahblahhh · 23/08/2019 07:38

I'd say go on your own and enjoy your first hol with your little one.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 23/08/2019 07:39

This thread 🤦‍♀️
A partner can't win! I wonder, while the OP is marking books is her husband doing her washing?
Anyway OP I hope you have a lovely holiday with or without him Smile

ThatCurlyGirl · 23/08/2019 07:41

@WhatHoliday

Bloody hell poor OP is going to wake up and see the post count and think ooh lovely lots of people have got back to me / might have advice.

But nope it's the Miley Show! I mean? I know she's always been controversial but I definitely liked her better when she was still married to Liam tbh 😉

OP I hope you're ok - did he return last night? Thanks
